Plain and simple. Little known (or maybe not) facts about the Titans, any era.

Name three famous real-life singers who appeared at Donna Troy's wedding in Tales of the Teen Titans.

Posted by DrakeChase3004 on :

Tony Orlando, David Lee Roth and Tina Turner??

(btw DL, we look like two dangerous dudes with those new avatars -- the Titans' world is definitely a darker place)

Well, I seem to remember Gar saying he'd book Donna Summer and Michael JAckson...

Posted by Deathstroke Lad on :

CP got one of the three. Hint: The other two consist of a bass player from an Australian trio and the other is part of a different famous trio.

Luciano P. sang and Sting was among the guests. Can't think of an Australian, though.

Posted by Deathstroke Lad on :

My bad. I meant to type British and typed Australian for some reason. Sting was who I was referring to as was LP.

Now, which of CP's two guesses was correct?

Posted by RavenArcanna on :

Tina Turner and Tony Orlando

Posted by Blacula on :

Wasn't Michael Jackson there as well?

Posted by Deathstroke Lad on :

Michael was the third one.

LP sang, MJ appeared in one panel real quick sort of in-between takes, and Sting introduced himself to Vic and asked him if he was a football player.

Since LYL got 2 of the 3 she gets the next question.

Posted by Leap Year Lass on :

What are the names of Cyborg's paternal grandparents?

Posted by Blacula on :

Silas and Maude? Or was it Silas and Hattie? Or was Silas his Dad? Oh I don't know... oh wait wasn't his Grandfather Tucker? And then there's Maude... And then there's Maude! [Wink]

I think it was Tucker and Maude.

Posted by Leap Year Lass on :

Yep. Remember the mad Maude, she slapped Vic? (His parents were Silas and Elinore, by the by.)

Do carry on....

OK here's a gloomy one - Who was the first Titan/Titan ally to die?

(There could actually be 2 answers to this taking into account a later ret-con.)

Was it Gnarrk the caveboy?

I can't think of anyone dying before Golden Eagle.

Posted by Phantasm on :

Well, I think Terra died before Charlie. Also, Gnaark was retconned to die before any of them...

Posted by CM3 Vee on :

I think you might be right about Terra, Phantasm.

Posted by Blacula on :

Well done Phantasm. You got the two characters I was thinking of.

The first Titan we ever saw die was Terra I in Tales of the Teen Titans Annual #3 in 1984 (a long time before Golden Eagle in New Titans #72 in 1991).

However, as was revealed in New Titans #56 in 1989, the long-unseen Titan ally Gnarrk had actually been put into a coma many years ago where he lay for a long period of time before dying. What was never revealed though was whether this death had actually occurred before or after that of Terra I's.

My guess is probably before but either way Phantasm's up for getting both of them.

Posted by Blacula on :

Phantasm!?! Helllloooooo?

If he doesn't come back TheGreenActingBug should ask the nest question for being the first to get at least one of the characters right.

OK, I'll go next then...

What was the name of Speedy's band?

Posted by Blacula on :

I know the answer to this one but since it was my question that seemed to stop this thread dead last time I'll let someone else have a go.

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

Bullfrog?
Leapfrog?
Toadies from Hell?

I think it was Great Frog ?

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

And IF that's right, then the question is: Name all of Duela Dent's known identities.

Posted by SKR on :

it was indeed Great Frog.

Duela:
Joker's Daughter and Harlequin are the two I know of.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Didn't she also pass herse;f off as Penguin's daughter, Catwoman's daughter, Riddler's daughter and even Scarecrow's daughter in some of her first appearances?

yep, she did all that.
And there's still another one to go.

Posted by Future on :

She's also boasted to be the Wildebeest's daughter and Doomsday's daughter in some of her more recent appearances in the last ten years.

Posted by tneK on :

how 'bout Darkseid's daughter?
Vic Von Doom's daughter?
Merv Griffin's daughter?

So... who gets the question?

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

go for it, Invisible Brainiac! u got most of it

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Thanks. Um... in the Titans/JLA crossover, a misguided Cyborg tries to give each of the Titans his idea of their deepest fantasies. But what was so odd about Terra II's "fantasy"?

Posted by Bevis on :

It wasn't nice at all. She was on a great big pole type thingy being told she was guilty and getting upset because she wasn't Terra I.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

You got it, Bevis. Cyborg sure has a lot to learn, doesn't he?

Posted by Bevis on :

Yay me!

OK, probably quite an easy one here, but never mind. How many Titans have also been members of Young Justice?

Posted by Future on :

4? 5, if Captain Marvel Jr. counts somehow (I never read YJ). [Razz]

Posted by Vee on :

Robin 3 (Tim)
Superboy 2 (Conner)
Wondergirl 2 (Cassie)
Kid Flash 2 (Bart)

These for were original members of YJ. Later on Captain Marvel Jr did join as did Beast Boy and Flamebird (as temporary fill ins after Sins of Youth)

Posted by Bevis on :

I think Vee has them all. Supergirl turned up as well for a crossover but never actually joined, whereas CM3, Changeling and Flamebird all did.

Posted by Vee on :

The Teen Titans were originally composed of "sidekicks" of some JLA members. Name all of the "sidekicks" of adult DC heroes that have been members of the Titans in it's various incarnations.

Posted by Blacula on :

If I'm taking your use of 'sidekick' to mean 'junior versions of adult heroes' correctly then -

Robin I
Kid Flash I
Wonder Girl I
Aqualad
and
Speedy
are the obvious ones from the original team.

Robin III
Kid Flash II
Wonder Girl II
and
Superboy
are the obvious ones from the current team.

Golden Eagle
Captain Marvel Jr
Aquagirl
Robin II
and
Flamebird/Bat-Girl
could also all fall into this category.

Posted by Vee on :

I think you've got all the ones I was thinking of Blacula. The only other one that sort of fit (although admitedly it's a bit of a stretch) is Changeling/Beast Boy from when he was with the Doom Patrol.

Take it away B!

Posted by Blacula on :

Who were the only pre-Titans Hunt Titans that we never saw captured, or attempted to be captured, by the Wildebeest Society during the Titans Hunt?

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

Titans Hunt = Reason I Dropped the Titans, so my memory is a bit fuddled.

To be completely anal and tacky, the Wildebeests's skipped the dead ones, which at the time includes: Aqua Girl, Dove I, Robin II, Gnaark, Terra I.

Duela Dent, Protector (from the Anti-Drug issues & Who's Who), Speedy, Azrael, Flamebird, Hawk, Dove II, Thunder & Lightning, and Lillith were former Titan members/allies also absent from the Titans Hunt, I think (it's hazy - no idea how it ended).

Bumblebee, Herald and Chris King have the unique position of being mentioned in the thought balloon but never appearing on-panel in the rockets the Titans are strapped into. This stood out because they depict every other person mentioned, including (I think) Magenta, but skip on nude shots of Mal, Karen and Chris. (And of course I wanted to see how Mal was holding up with his former boxing title and all. For artistic reasons. Ahem.)

Andy - you should have kept reading! We got to see a naked Mal (as well as Karen and Chris and all the rest of the captured Titans) when the souls of Azareth posessed them and turned them against the last remaining "free" Titans at the end of the 'Hunt'! [Wink]

Unfortunately there were some handy plumes of smoke everywhere to protect everyone's modesty... but it was still pretty racy. Mal may have retired but it looks like he's definitely kept up his boxing training! [Wink]

There were 5 (still living) Titans that the Wildebeests never went for whom I had in mind for this question...

You got -

* Harlequin (who had dropped out of comics during this period)
* Speedy (who disappeared just before the Hunt started and then popped up again afterward as Arsenal)
* Flamebird (who's non-metahuman status meant she would have been worthless to the Wildebeests anyway, even though they still captured Mal and Karen - go figure)
and
* Lilith (who did appear during the 'War of the Gods' crossover part of the Hunt but for some reason was forgotten by the Wildebeests)

- I don't consider Protector a Titan.
- I wasn't thinking about Titan-allies like Thunder and Lightning, Azrael and Dove II when I posted the question but since other Titan-allies like Magenta and Chris King were included in the story I guess I should've. Kudos for remembering them.
- In the final issue of Hawk and Dove the Wildebeests were shown trying (and failing) to capture Hawk.

That leaves one (fairly prominent) Titan missing from the list. However, since my memory isn't as strong on him as it was the others, and since you got all the others anyway I may as well reveal him -

* Flash (I'm quite sure he wasn't one of the captured ones and I don't think we ever saw any attempts on him in his own series)

(By the way I almost included Troia on this list because she was away with Wonder Woman when the Hunt started, but then remembered that the Wildebeests went for her when she got back - only for her to be captured by the Greek Gods for 'War of the Gods' first. Phew! That girl can't get a break!)

Take it away Andy!

LOL -- u know that storyline was so befuddled and bewildering, the creative team barely kept track of it

(now i have to dig up Titans back-issues to see Mal naked -- it better be worth it, Blacula, or I'll have to Wildebeest-hunt you!)

Oh, and Mal and Karen have GOT to have some kind of latent meta-gene -- popping out of comics limbo in a steady stream of meta-related kidnap stories (i desperately hope their meta-gene isn't that they were the only black people who could join the Titans pre-Wolfman, which historically *might* be considered a superpower considering the era)

Now, for my question...
Dr. Light was a common JLA foe who went up against the Teen Titans. What other JLAer Rogues battled the Titans?

Posted by Vee on :

Hmmm, I can only think of Gorilla Grodd and Vandal Savage.

Posted by Blacula on :

- The Royal Flush Gang are JLA villains who fought the Titans.
- IQ and the Gentleman Ghost (Hawkman villains) also popped up in one story.
- Blue Devil's villain, Shockwave, appeared during Faerbar's run.

... that's all I can think of for now.

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

gorilla grodd & vandal savage are perhaps the biggest
Royal Flush Gang, IQ, Gentleman Ghost are definitely there
Shockwave counts in a minor way even though he's utterly lame & blue devil's league membership was completely forgettable IMO
There's a key Bat-villain missing from your list:
Blacula or Vee - whichever one of you gets it, gets the question

Posted by Blacula on :

I've been racking my brains trying to think of who this might be... and I finally got it!

And its so obvious too - TWO-FACE! That issue that had him on the cover holding his gun to Duela Dent's head was the first issue I ever bought of Teen Titans vol. I. I don't know how I forgot it.

Assuming I'm right I'll go ahead with the next question, and I'll make it an easy one too -

Who were the original members of the Fearsome Five?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Dr. Light, Shimmer, Mammoth, Gizmo, & Psimon

Posted by Blacula on :

Correctamundo. You're up Quislet.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Which Titans were featured in the 1967-69 animated foray?

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

yes, blacula, you got it
i was kinda surprised you missed 2-face
one of my favorite issues, he had a great gang of meta-powered twins (Flamesplasher and Splashflamer were particularly priceless) PLUS it was the big reveal of Duela which was also cool (as i thought Bumblebee, Wonder Girl and the Joker's Daughter were the best things about comics at the time -- and yes, i wanted to hang with them, not date them)

QUISLET - that was in the series of goofy (fabulous) cartoons that seemed to move by some strange constantly repeating backgrounds and posing, right? it was Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Aqua Lad and Speedy, i think
(never knew why Robin was absent in this version of the TT)

That's the one Andy and the Titans. Apparently there were only three made. I assume they didn't use Robin because he was appearing in the Batman cartoon at the time.

thanks, quislet

Who would have been the 1st gay Titan?

Posted by Kent on :

Aqualad?

Posted by Blacula on :

Jericho?

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

Perez has been pretty clear Jericho isn't gay in interviews (the way he talks, Joey could be some kind of personal avatar representing Perez himself in his imagination -- i shuddered too)

and while Aqualad's creators are often 'in the life', he's firmly established (as much as aquatic types can be) as hetero
personally, I always find it a bit TIRED when the boy i likes runs off to join the married couples & parents establishment ... i have to wait longer for his return ... sigh

i'm thinking of someone who WOULD have been a Titan who's gay (as in was a proposed member of a Titans team)

t's not Hero Cruz is it? He's the only Titan that I can think of who is definately gay (as stated in the comic) but I'm not sure he even really counts as a full Titan.

Posted by Bevis on :

Oh hang on, hasn't Phil Jimenez said that Terra I (or possibly II, I forget) was meant to be gay but they never revealed it before Zero Hour came along. Is that who you're thinking of? A character who wasn't stated to be gay in the comics but the creators have confirmed that they were intended to be.

Hero Cruz it is! He was supposed to be part of a new Titans West, but Jay Faerber never got his new series off the ground.

OK time's up. I'm just gonna ask the next question to get the game moving again -

Who built the original Titans Tower?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I am thinking HIVE originally built Titans Tower.

Posted by Vee on :

Cyborg's dad.

Posted by Blacula on :

If memory serves - H.I.V.E. agents may have been disguised as the construction workers of the Tower at the beginning of Devin Grayson's series (and don't get me started on how stupid an idea that was) but, as Vee guessed, the original Tower was indeed built by Cyborg's Dad, Silas Stone.

Vee - Go Go Go!

What was the codename of the Japanese super youth that the Titans encountered during their first run (similar storyline to the Leonid/original Starfire/Red Star one) and where/when did we see him again?

Posted by 235 - Andy S on :

which first run are you referring to?

there was Bushido who later appeared in Faerber's Titans LA attempt at the back-end of an Annual
but his first appearance was recent (at least as i would consider recent)

Nope. By first run I meant...well their first run [Big Grin]

(Just messing with you Andy. I'm refering to the original Teen Titans series in the 60s-70s)

No idea what the answer is but can't wait to find out! Hats off to you Vee - didn't think there were many Titans-related questions that could stump me. Damn those holes in my Teen Titans vol. I run!

Posted by Vee on :

[Embarrassed]

Based on the two posts above, I went back to find the issue number I was referring to in my question...only to discover that I've completely deluded myself!

Let me explain. I was recently rereading the entire Crisis on Infinite Earths series and noticed an exchange involving the new Doctor Light and another Japanese hero (Sunburst). Sunburst dies defending the world from Shadow Demons. (Crisis #12)

This exchange reminded me of (what I thougt was) Sunburst earliest appearnce. Unfortunately, there was no such appearance. I now realize I was confusing Sunburst in my mind with the very first appearnce of this guy...

and confusing one super powered teen group with another.

My apologies for the confusion and for stalling the thread. I guess I shouldn't trust to (obviously faulty) memory when dealing with obscure references.

Blacula, I'll give the next question to you since your response got me to do the research and discover my error.

[LOL] How funny! And there I was thinking how globe-trotting the original Teen Titans were. Guess they didn't make it to Japan after all. [Smile]

But don't worry Vee. I don't know how many times I've asked a question and then said a secret prayer that someone wasn't going to come along and say that my answer for it was completely wrong. [Big Grin]

OK next question (and from an era we haven't really delved much into in this thread so far) -

The H'San Natall bred 9 children to be their sleeper agents on Earth. Of these 9, 6 have been identified. Name them please.

Posted by Danny Blaine on :

Speaking of that era, when the identity of Omen was revealed, the Titans saw him/her as various former Titans. Who were those Titans?

Posted by Blacula on :

I can think of 3 of them - Lilith, Raven and Phantasm. Can't remember who the 4th was though. I'll guess... Mal?

Posted by Blacula on :

[Bump] to remind Danny Blaine.

If not Mal, I'll guess... Kole?

Posted by Blacula on :

OK look like Danny Blaine's gone AWOL. Since I know I got 3 of the 4 right I'll just ask another question to get this thread moving again.

Which Fab 5 Titan is related to a Golden-Age hero? Name them both please.

Roy (Speedy) Harper is related (cousins or unlce/nephew) to Jim (Guardian) Harper

Correctamundo Quislet. Your question.

The Titans gave up their superpowers after causing the death of a man of peace. They then got a mentor/benefactor. What was the mentor/benefactor's name?

Animal Man (Beast Boy)
Aquawoman (Aquagirl II)

So come on everyone and join in the fun!

Whoever wants to ask the first question - go ahead!

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Who was the first super-villian the Wolfman-Perez Titans fought?

Posted by Calybos on :

Trigon?

Posted by legionadventureman on :

Didn't they battle a protoplasmic creature in the DC NTT tie-in?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Not Trigon, although presumably that is why they were gathered together by Raven.

And yes they first fought a protoplasmic creature, but I wouldn't classify the creature as a super-villian. It didn't have a name and not even a thought balloon. So there is doubt to it sentience.

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Well, in the first issue they fought the Gordanians, but they were a race, not a villain.

My guess would be the Ravenger (Deathstroke's son, Grant Wilson). I believe they fought him in issue #2.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

That's the correct answer Spellbinder.

Posted by Spellbinder on :

This one might be a bit of a challenge:

In the original Teen Titans series, the Fiddler appears to kidnap two of the acts competing in the Battle of the Bands. Name either (or both for extra credit [Wink] ) of these two acts. Hint: they are based on real-life acts that were popular at the time [Smile]

One was the Woodworkers ( a version of the Carpenters). I forget what the other band was called but it was a version of Paul McCartney & Wings. The surprize ending was that both bands were the same people.

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Okay, so it was no challenge whatsoever [Wink]

You're up, Quis! [Smile]

What was the name of the sorceress who was allegedly Aqualad's "girlfriend" but, who had him under her spell?

Posted by Blacula on :

I think it might be time for a clue here LAM. If this is a refernece to that unresolved story in Teen Titans #36 then I know the story you're talking about but I have no idea what her name was... and titanstower.com doesn't have it listed either!

Posted by legionadventureman on :

Give u a tiny hint, Blacula - her surname was McDuff... [tease]

Posted by Blacula on :

Oh wait - I know the story you're thinking of now... I think.

I remember a story where it was revealed that Aquaman had sent Aqualad to attend boarding school in Scotland (and in retrospect, how random is that!). I can't remember the details but if her name was McDuff then she must have come from that tale.

I'll have to look up the answer and get back to you LAM, unless someone else can beat me to it.

This should be pretty easy: Who (or what) was Phantasm revealed to be at the end of the Titans Hunt?

Posted by superboymddjr on :

Danny Chase? and then Arella + Danny Chase + people of Azarath thats what I believed at the end of the story where evil lesbian Raven "killed" him...?

Yes, and at that point we might as well have been reading Alpha Flight, so the hell with it.

Moving on....

Posted by Vee on :

[Bump] for superboymddjr to see [Big Grin]

Posted by Vee on :

Well, in order to get this thread moving again, I'll throw out a new question.

Who was the Protector and how did he come into existence?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

The Protector was actually supposed to be Nightwing in a "don't do drugs" give-away issue of the Titans. For some licensing reason, they weren't able to use the Nightwing character, so they re-inked the issue and called Nightwing "Protector"

Posted by Vee on :

Absolutely correct, Quis! You're up.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

hmmmmmm

Ok this might be obscure.

The Teen Titans appeared in an issue of Brave & the Bold with Batman. In the story, Wonder Girl uses a power that she really doesn't have. This power was only shown on the Wonder Woman TV show. What is this power?

Flight?

nope

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

nope

Posted by legionadventureman on :

She uses her lasso to make felons tell the absolute truth??

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Nope

A hint: in the TV series, Wonder Woman was shown to have this power, but it was never a power she had in the comics.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

No other guesses?

Posted by Calybos on :

Telepathy?

Posted by Quirhino, Esq. on :

Nope.

Shall I flip all the cards and reveal the answer?

Posted by VeeRhino on :

Yes please. *sad little puppy eyes*

Posted by Quirhino, Esq. on :

In this issue of Brave & Bold, Wonder Girl was shown imitating someone else's voice. In this case, the villian's. The Batcomputer identified it as Commissioner Gordon's. (Batman then deduced that the villian was using a taped versionn of Commissioner Gordon's voice)

Wonder Woman did this a couple of times on the TV show and never in the comics (as far as I know).

OK, someone else can ask the next question

Posted by lancesrealm on :

What issue of B&B is this from?

Posted by Quirhino, Esq. on :

I believe it is issue 149

Posted by Vee on :

Okay, guess I'll ask a question to get things moving again.

Lots of Titans have gone through changes over the years (and we won't get into Donna's history! [Big Grin] ) but Victor Stone has changed quite a bit even for a Titan. How many different versions of Vic have we seen? Describe them please.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

There was the original Cyborg. Half man-half machine. Then there was the fully robotic one. (that one was a winner) Then there was the one where he was part alien metal (and could look fully human)

He's back to the original form now. I don't know how and I don't care.

Posted by Calybos on :

And for a brief period, he had plastic implants that made him look entirely human.

And we saw his original, fully human form in flashbacks.

Was the alien-metal phase the same as the all-gold guy? And there was the cyber-planetoid, Cyberian I think it was called.

Posted by legionadventureRhino on :

Cyborg/Vic also had a different look during the Grummett/Vey run - is this also relevant?

Posted by Vee on :

I think Quis & Calybos covered all of them (or at least all those I can remember) Since Calybos got the more obscure ones, I'll give the next question to him.

Posted by Calybos on :

Here's a softball: Name five or more of the future-based Team Titans.

Posted by legionadventureman on :

Terra, Mirage, Redwing, the vampire-looking guy and Kilowatt?

Posted by Calybos on :

Yes, but we'll need a name for the "vampire-looking guy," or else another Team Titan.

Posted by Vee on :

The vampire looking guy was Dagon and there was also Battalion, Prestor John and, Deathwing and the other teams of Team Titans.

Posted by Calybos on :

Correct. Your turn.

Posted by Vee on :

Okay, here's an easy one [Wink]

Who were the heroes in the original Titans West? (Teen Titans v1 #50-52 I think.)

Lash could answer this in a heartbeat! [Big Grin]

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Hawk & Dove
Flamebird (aka Bat-Girl)
Golden Eagle
Beast Boy
Lilith

Posted by Vee on :

Good but you're missing at least two that i can think of.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Are you thinking about Mal & Bumblebee? Because they were part of Titans East when Titans West first appeared.

The only other Titans West member I can think of would be Gnaark (sp?)

Posted by Vee on :

Gnaark would be one! [Big Grin]

HINT: The other one I'm thinking of is a huge favorite of Lash's

Posted by Blacula on :

Duela Dent (aka Harlequin) was definitely part of Titans East during this storyline if that's who you were thinking of Vee. Here was the breakdown of members -

Titans East :

Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Speedy, Mal, Bumblebee and Harlequin.

Titans West :

Golden Eagle, Lilith, Hawk, Dove, Beast Boy, Gnaark and Flamebird.

Posted by Vee on :

I was thinking of Duela, but I checked and Blacula is right. So Quis is up since he got all of them.

Thanks for correcting me Blacula. I shouldn't depend on memory alone after all these years

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

OK

What other comic book series spun out of the Teen titans? (By "spun out of" I mean, the character first appeared in the Teen Titans and then got his/her/their own series) I can think of 2.

Oh and I don't mean characters created just to be spun-off into a new series (i.e. Team Titans)

Deathstroke The Terminator?

You are correct for one title.

Posted by Vee on :

Damage?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Nope. Damage had his own title long beore joining the Titans.

Posted by Vee on :

Are you being sneaky Quis? Could the other series be Nightwing? [Big Grin]

Posted by Calybos on :

Nightwing certainly qualifies.

Beast Boy and Donna Troy also got their own minis, but I doubt you're counting miniseries.

BB wouldn't qualify anyway: he first appeared in Doom Patrol years before joining the Titans.

I'm not sure if the Donna-Troy-version of Wonder Girl was original to the Titans or not ...

Posted by Blacula on :

Vigilante (Adrian Chase) and Anima are 2 Titans related characters that graduated to their own series'.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

How is Anima related to the Titans?

If it really fits the citeria (which if I wasn't clear is: the character originated in the Teen Titans series (thus I really wouldn't count Nightwing) and then got their own series (not mini) and as I said, I am not counting characters that were introduced in order to start a new sries (i.e. Team Titans) )then Blacula gets the question. The two I was thinking of were Deathstroke and Vigilante.

Posted by Vee on :

Didn't remember Vigilante.

Good question Quis.

Posted by Blacula on :

Anima first appeared in the New Titans Bloodlines Annual.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Well I don't think of that as a true spin off, do you?

You and Vee both got one correct. So you can fight over who gets the next question.

After Crisis on Infinite Earths most but not all of the Team Titans were wiped from continuity. Which ones remained and what explanation was given for their existence?

Posted by legionadventureman on :

Zero Hour

It was then revealed that the Team Titans leader in the future was the villainous Monarch - who created a false future world so he could train meta-humans (The Team Titans) to act as sleeper agent assassins. He knew of the impending time crisis, and wanted a super-powered army at his command. The time-villain Extant commanded all the Team Titans to attack the heroes who were trying to unravel this time crisis. His plan was thwarted; the heroes contained the Teamers. Time continued to collapse, erasing the false timelines that had emerged. As a result, all the Team Titans were erased from existence.

Strangely enough, three people remained unscathed from Monarch's false timeline: Tara Markov (Terra II), Miriam Delgado (Mirage) and Deathwing (who was believed to be a future Dick Grayson). Terra and Mirage remained members of a new Titans team, led by Arsenal (Roy Harper). Shortly after the team was reformed, a strange orb appeared, with messages for Mirage and Terra.

The orb was sent by the Time Trapper. The Time Trapper revealed that Mirage, Deathwing and Terra were from this timeline, not an alternate timeline, as they had thought. All three had been implanted with false memories by the Time Trapper and turned into "sleeper agents" who would fight the villainous Monarch in the coming Zero Hour event.

I'm not certain, Kent, but I think Godiva (who looked a little like Quicksand-with-a-white-streak-in-her-hair) debuted around the same time as Danny Chase did - or did his debut occur first?

Introduced in NTT 17, she was a young girl who found she had the ability to attract magnetic fields. She and Kid Flash had a sort-of relationship which fizzled quickly in view of Wally's infatuation with Raven. Later, when Frances aided the Titans against the minions of Brother Blood, she adopted the code-name of "Magenta" and wore a costume which obscured her face...and...

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Does that mean I was right?

When the Titans met the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who was the only Titan to meet "War" and who were the only 3 Titans to meet "Famine"?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Well, I doublechecked the last answer last night and it turns out that it was Miss Wickersham, not Miss Wickham. Magda Wickersham, AKA Magda Drachwyck to be precise.

This question has stagnated long enough. The answer is:
Kid Flash was the only Titan to meet War and Lilith, Mal, and Speedy were the only ones to meet Famine.

Here's a followup question. What was ironic about the backup story in that issue (TT #37) and no, I don't mean that they miscolored Green Arrow/Robin Hood's costume with Speedy's colors.

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Is anybody else still playing this game?

It is just that recalling particular stories by issue number is not one of my strong suits.

I'll read the story...and try to answer it, Jim.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

OK, just read it. Umm...it is ironic that Oliver Queen went to school in Smallville?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Nope.

By ironic, I mean in how it relates to the lead story.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Jim, are you referring to the fact that all of the bad guys were horsemen?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

You're on the right track but there's more to it than that.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Dammit Jim! I'm a doctor, not a comic-book geek! Oh, wait a minute...

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Okay, I'm about to split and won't be back here until Monday, so I'll spill the beans and give Lance the next question.

In both stories, the heroes faced each of 4 legendary horsemen, one at a time, each of whom rode a different colored horse and carried a different weapon. 3 of the horse colors were even the same (red, yellow, black) and 2 of the weapons were too (sword, torch). Okay, in the 2nd story it was crooks disguised as legendary horsemen, but you get the drift.

I wonder if this reprinted story was chosen specifically for this reason. It's hard to believe the powers that be of the day had that much on the ball, but why else would they reprint a Superboy/Green Arrow story in a Teen Titans comic?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Jim, I suspect the Titans story was cannibalized from the Green Arrow story. This would explain the similarities.

Back with a Titans question as soon as I steal one from earlier in the thread...

Posted by Lance's realm on :

OK, here we go...

When Beast Boy first tried to join the Teen Titans, he was not allowed to join. Why not?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

His guardian refused to give his permission.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

That's it, Quis. I picked this issue (TT #6, I think) up cheap last weekend. Your question, sir.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

OK, I picked up the Showcase Presents: the Teen Titans.

In the first appearance, Robin, Kid Flash, & Aqualad fight Mr. Twister. Mr. Twister was making a demand on the town of Happy Harbor. What was the specific demand and what was to be the replacement if the specific demand was not met?

Posted by Calybos on :

By the terms of the original contract with Twister's ancestor, the town had to give him a passenger pigeon feather every year.

If that was not supplied, the town had to provide "a youth" for a year's service to him. By the time Twister showed up, a LOT of feathers or kids were owed since the last payment.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Yep, that's it. Also the story mentions the fact that the passenger pigeon became extinct in 1912.

Your question Calybos

Posted by Calybos on :

Okay, here's a trick question: In an early adventure, the Titans met a displaced-in-time youth known as the "Million Year-Old Teenager."

What was his name?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Gnaark?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Garn

Posted by Calybos on :

Quislet's got it; he took a more modern name too (which I forget--Hans something?).

Gnaark was the distraction; he's the Titans' most FAMOUS caveman associate, but not the "Million Year-Old Teenager."

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Quislet seems to be MIA, so until he rejoins us, I propose a new question:

Which Titan has met the Loch Ness Monster?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Well, I'll guess Aqualad, but that's too obvious...

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Obvious but correct. I thought that would be an easy one. He met the monster in the 2nd Mad Mod encounter I believe. Odd that he didn't mention that to the other Titans when they were hunting the monster in issue #40(?) . . .

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I'll let Lance continue as I don't have a good question (heck I don't even have a bad question)

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Actually, neither do I, Quis. Look, I am just gonna leave the floor open. First person who wants to ask a question gets it, ok?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Where did the Titans first meet Lilith and what was she doing there?

Posted by Bevis on :

Can't remember what it was called but she was a go-go dancer in a club in an ever so groovy kind of way.

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Close enough. I believe it was the Canary Club disco and she danced in a cage. Carry on.

Posted by Bevis on :

Dammit, now I have to think of a question...

What was Flamebird's perfect world as created by Technis had captured all the Titans?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Not familar with the story, but I would say her perfect world would have included her being married to Robin/Nightwing and/or being the tennis champion of the world.

Posted by Bevis on :

So very, very close, but not quite...

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I think it was her playing tennis against a whole bunch of Robins. And winning, of course. (Not sure about that last part, it just seemed to fit [Smile] )

Very true. As a mod here, I'll PM Bevis; if we don't here back by Sunday (that long only because there is not currently a rule and I'm hesitant to be too unilateral), then it's IBby's question.

I'll also consult Nightcrawler and my fellow mods, and hopefully announce a standard rule for all trivia threats tout de suite.

Okay, it's now been 14 days since the last question. I'm taking the law into my own hands in order to get this thread moving again:

Who was Cerebella?

One of the Hybrid?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Nope.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Sounds like a cheap female knock-off of the Brain.

But I have no clue

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Did Lilith go by this once?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Sort of. Can you be more specific?

Posted by jimgallagher on :

Okay, time is up. Cerebella was the Lilith of an alternate timeline inadvertantly created by Kid Flash and Mal when they traveled to the past and accidentally killed the historically significant Gnarrk. Why the timeline reverted to normal when Gnarrk was brought into the future instead of killed makes no sense to me, but those are the breaks.

Hey! Maybe they're the ones behind all this reboot madness!

Lance, your turn at bat.

OK...a 2-part question...

In what comic did the Teen Titans originally appear?

In what comic did the New Teen Titans first appear?

I don't need issue numbers, just the title of the comics.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

The Original Teen Titans (Robin, Aqualad, & Kid Flash) first appeared in Brave & Bold. I believe that the trio was joined by Wonder Girl in Showcase next.

The New Teen Titans first appeared in a special preview insert in DC Comics Presents.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

That's it, Quislet. Take it...

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Name the Titans who have also been members of the Justice League.

Posted by jimgallagher on :

The Atom, the Flash (Wally), and Kyle Rainor (Green Lantern)?

Posted by Bevis on :

Plus Nightwing during the Obsidian Age rubbish. I'm pretty sure Starfire and Troia have been shown in panels where they call in the Reserves as well but I don't think either of them have actually been given full JLA membership as part of a story.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Jim & Bevis do have them all. In one sense, I would count Nightwing as a partial right answer seeing as his membership really only covered one story. I tend to think you aren't truly a member of a group unless you appear in several stories. And definitely not a member when they have a big fight and you are a called in hero.

Also Starfire was a "member" of the JLA: Justice League of Aliens. I can't remember if Donna was in the Justice League of Amazons and/or Garth in the Justice League of Atlantis. Again, I would not count these as they were just a one story gimmick.

Seeing as Jim got the most and the main ones, it is his question.

Okay, it's been 3 days and no one's even touched this question.

Nirka McDuff was a sea witch who enthralled Aqualad by order of her father in TT #40.

Somebody ask a new question.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Jim, I knew where this could be found; unfortunately, I do not have that issue. I'll ask an easy one:

Who were the original 3 Teen Titans?

Posted by Vee on :

Robin, Kid Flash & Aqualad

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Yup. Your go, Vee...

Posted by Vee on :

The Teen Titans were ofetn called the Junior JLA in the early days and it's original membership consisted exclusively of sidekicks/protoges of major DC heroes. As time progressed that format morphed to include non sidekicks. List all the sidekicks that have been members over the years.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Ok, I'll take a stab at this, but I haven't read Titans in years. Anyway...

Robin - Batman
Kid Flash - Flash
Aqualad - Aquaman
Speedy - Green Arrow
Wonder Girl - Wonder Woman

Posted by Vee on :

Great start Lance but there are still more

Posted by Calybos on :

Also the new Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark), the new Robin (Tim Drake), the new Speedy (Mia Dearden), the old Batgirl, Flamebird (arguably a teen sidekick to other teen sidekicks!), Duela Dent (ditto)...

Beast Boy, of course, was a sidekick to the Doom Patrol. Kid Devil tried to be Blue Devil's sidekick. Superboy wasn't technically a sidekick, but he was a "junior Superman" of sorts. Some of the Team Titans were teenagers, but unless you count their mentors Deathwing and Monarch, they weren't sidekicks to anyone.

Let's see, Aquagirl was an honorary Titan only. Impulse was a sidekick Flash for a long time. Golden Eagle was mentored by Hawkman briefly, so he might count. And Captain Marvel Jr. was even a Titan when the teen Atom led the team. I don't recall Bumblebee or the Herald ever doing the sidekick bit, so that's all my guesses.

Posted by Vee on :

Excellent Calybos you got most of the ones I'm thinking of but not all! [Big Grin]

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I would say the Flamebird (aka Bat-Girl) was the sidekick of Batwoman. But who was Duela Dent a sidekick to? I actually don't see Impulse or Golden Eagle as sidekicks because I don't remember them actually taking part in the adventures of Flash or Hawkman (respectively) Ditto Donna Troy.

More sidekicks:

Supergirl
Ravager (Deathstroke's sidekick)

Posted by Vee on :

Those were the one's that were missing Quis. Good job!

I'll give the next question to Calybos because he got the largest number right. BTW, I wouldn't count the Team Titans as sidekicks, nor Duela Dent but I would count Impulse (both as a sidekick of Max Mercury and Flash (Wally).

You're up Calybos

Of the "Founding Five" (Speedy, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, Robin, Kid Flash), whose given name was revealed last (in 1984)?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

um...Aqualad's?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

um, scratch that..you must be referring to the "Who is Donna Troy?" story, so I'll change my guess to Wonder Girl.

Posted by jimgallagher on :

I think you were right the first time, Lance. Donna's name was given in TT#22 I believe, which came out in '69. Aqualad's name, Garth, wasn't revealed until much later.

Posted by Calybos on :

Yes, Lance was right... although Donna's name WAS withheld for a long stretch after her first appearance. But nothing compared to Garth's.

Your turn, Lance.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

UM, ok, even though I think it should be Jim's question because I changed my answer. Oh, and I don't think we found out that Donna's given name was really Donna until the "Who is Donna Troy" story - but I could be mistaken. Here we go...

Who was the first person to try to be a Teen Titan, only to be rejected?

Beast Boy

That's it - take it Quis...

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

OK let me think of a good question and I'll post it tomorrow. (My usual internet access is unavailable and I am on the Boston Public library's 15 minute access)

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

OK Name all the Titans who had a villian for a parent.

I am thinking of three of which there is no question and three in which ret-conning effects the answer.

Posted by Calybos on :

Gar Logan's adoptive father, Steve Dayton, was a villainous Mento, but I'm not sure that counts.

Jericho's and Rose Wilson's (Ravager's) father is the Terminator, of course. And Raven's the daughter of Trigon.

Joker's Daughter, Duela Dent, was originally "revealed" to be Two-Face's daughter; then later announced it was impossible; then retconned into perhaps being Wildebeest's daughter; now nobody knows for sure, except that she IS the daughter of some villain or other.

Bart (Impulse, Kid Flash) Allen is the son of Don Allen, one half of the Legion's onetime foes the Tornado Twins. But they weren't really villainous.

And finally, Toni (Argent) Monetti is the daughter of a wealthy drug dealer. Not a supervillain, but definitely a bad guy nonetheless.

P.S.: Whoops, almost forgot! The late Superboy was the genetic offspring/clone of Lex Luthor as well as Superman.

Calybos, you got the three that I said were no question (Jerico, Ravager, & Raven)

You are right about Duela Dent, but not the other ret-con ones. I knew Argent was the daughter of a drug dealer, but like you I don't count that as a villian (in comic book terms) Nor would Bart's father count as a villian (or even a foe really) And I am not counting his mother who is supposed to be a member of the Reverse Flash family.

I would say that Mento was not so much villianous as affected by his helmet (Although the same can be said about Two-Face not being villianous but suffering from mental problems)

I also forgot about Kon-el.

So there are two more ret-con effected characters that I am thinking about. Does anyone want to guess?

In regaards to the question/game, Calybos did answer the lion share and has the next question.

I'll take a stab at it and guess the final two are Lilith (mother Thia of the Titans of Myth) and Baby Wildebeast? A third possibility (hedging my bets [Big Grin] ) is Golden Eagle (son of a Thangarian renegade)

Golden Eagle is the other I was thinking of. Lilith & Baby Wilderbeest are not the ones I was thinking. And wasn't Baby Wilderbeest a clone with no identified genetic parentage?

Shall I say who the last one is?

I'd say you stumped us. Go ahead.

I really hated the ret-con on Wally's parents because I really loved the scene with his parents in the "Day in the Life of..." issue.

Sorry, folks, I'm busy at school today. If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll post a question; otherwise, someone feel free to take my turn.

Here we go!

In what Titans issue or story did Michael Jackson appear?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

TT #50 - the wedding of Donna and Terry?

Posted by Calybos on :

Correct--and in record time! Well done, Lance.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

OK....an easy one...

Who was the mastermind behind Flamesplasher's crimes?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

OK, a hint...Flamesplasher had a twin...

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I don't remember either Flamesplasher or his/her twin.

As for the mastermind, I'll guess Deathstroke

Posted by Lance's realm on :

nope...Flamesplasher appeared near the end of the Titans first run. Blatant hints tomorrow if no one get it by then.

Posted by Vee on :

Twins gives it away for me. Though I don't recall the name Flamesplasher, this had to be one of the 2 groups of costumed villains organized by Two Face to attack NYC and Gotham.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

That's it! It was Two-face up to his dual shenanigans. Take it, Vee! (I thought the twins part would give it away...)

Posted by Vee on :

Getting the answers wrong is easier...then I don't have to come up with a good question! [Big Grin]

Be back in a little bit with one.

Posted by Vee on :

Over the years the Titans have had more than their share of loses. How many Titans have died in the line of duty and who are they?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

For sures:

Kole
Pantha
Baby Wilderbeest
Bushido (he was the other guy Superboy Prime offed, right?)
Danny Chase
Joto
Kon-el

Iffies:

Donna Troy (although she got better)
Don (Dove) Hall (retroactively considered a Titan)
Hank (Hawk) Hall (ditto on the retroactive part. also didn't actually die in the line of duty)
Jericho (although didn't he become evil when he died?)
Terra (although she was a Titan when she died, she didn't exactly die in the line of duty)
Raven? (didn't she die and get better?)
Supergirl/Matrix (did she die or is she still around?)
Aquagirl (an honorary member)

Posted by Vee on :

Quis, I think you got all of those I can think of save two, so you will definitely have the next question.

Regarding your "iffies"

I would count Donna, Don, Jericho (because he was a long time Titan even though he was evil at the time of death), Terra, and Aquagirl. Not counting Hank since it was long after he ceased to be Hawk. Not sure about Raven and I honestly have no clue as to whether Matrix is still around or not but I wouldn't count it in the line of duty.

Hmm who were the other two?

Question time.........

What was the setting for the first meeting between the Teen Titans and Speedy? (that is Roy Harper, not the current Speedy)

Without going too long into the complicated history of Matrix/Supergirl (who apparently is no longer in continuity, grr)she's not dead. The Matrix aspect of her is sort of remerged with the Earth Born Angel of love and/or Twilight (I forget exactly) while Linda Danvers (who no longer has any part of Matrix in her physical make-up) retired as Supergirl but still kept her powers. So neither of them actually died, although the Matrix construct sort of did a couple of times (but only after being evil I think).

You have part of the answer. So which country was it?

It was Japan.

Your question. Although I should have made you pick one or the other.

Posted by Vee on :

Next question: Just as there have been a number of incarnations of the Titans over the years, they have also had a variety of headquarters. List (or describe) all of the Titan HQs.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Well first they had that cave behind the billboard for the Batman TV show. Would you say that Mr. Jupiter's compound was one of their headquarters? Then there was the disco in New York State (I forget the exact town - New Carthage maybe?) Then of course the original Titans Tower in New York City. I think the group lead by the de-aged Atom meet in a penthouse. I never really read the era with Pantha in it so I don't know where they had their headquarters. Finally the current Titans Tower in San Francisco.

Posted by Vee on :

Still missing a few...

Posted by Spellbinder on :

The Titans Lair cave
Gabriel's Horn disco
Titans Tower I, New York
I wanna say the Dayton Estate temporarily after the destruction of Titans Tower I
The USS Argus Satellite & the Liberty Island base (during the Arsenal years)
Mr Jupiter's Solar Tower building
Then the arcade (?) after Lilith was revealed to be Omen
Then the new Titans Tower II when the Fab Five reformed the team
Then the current Titans Tower III on the West Coast

You got them all Princess. Next question is yours.

Why did the New Teen Titans go to Paradise Island?

Bonus point if you know which God had the hots for Donna while they were there [Wink]

hmm...I think they went there to resurrect Gar? and Donna had the hots for...um...what-his-name...I vaguely remmeber this...I am gonna say Eros?

That's close enough [Smile]

The Amazons used the Purple Ray to heal Gar, who was badly injured.

The god was Hyperion, the Titan God of the Sun.

Ok, here we go...In the first appearance of the New Teen Titans, the adventure is apparently someone's dream. Whose?

Posted by Vee on :

Dick Grayson

That's it, Vee. Your question...

Posted by Vee on :

Who were the original members of the the Atom's version of the Titans and what brought them together?

Posted by Spellbinder on :

The original Titans were Atom, Risk, Argent, Joto and Prism.

I wanna say that they were hunted down and captured by those aliens that were responsible for them having their powers, you know the ones who experimented on their mothers. I can't remember what they were called, though...

Posted by Vee on :

Good enough Princess. You're up.

Next question: WHo designed and built the original Titans Tower?

OK, here we go...

In the Titans' original cave headquarters, the entrance was covered by a billboard. What was advertised on the billboard?

Posted by Vee on :

Wasn't it for the Batman TV show?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

That's it, Vee!

Posted by Vee on :

Let's see who is the fastest.

Who was Donna's first roommate?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Sharon Tracy?

Posted by Vee on :

Correct sir!

Posted by Lance's realm on :

OK, another easy one...where was Wonder Girl living before she moved into the apartment with Sharon?

At Titans headquarters, I believe

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Well I don't have a question, so take it away Spellbinder

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Hmmm... off the top of my head...

In New Teen Titans, Robin began the quest to find out "Who Is Donna Troy." Her birth mother had died of cancer, but not before Donna was adopted.

Who were her adopted parents? (Name either or both)

Posted by Vee on :

Fay Stacey Evans? I think it was during her first marriage, but Donna considers Fay's kids from her second marriage to be "step-siblings" per se.

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Sorry! I was on vacation and totally forgot about this thread!

That's correct, Vee [Big Grin]

Posted by Vee on :

Vacation?

[Confused]

What's that? [Wink]

Posted by Vee on :

Simple one since I'm at work and can't look anything up easily...

Which Titan has had the greatest number of different codenames on the team?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Hmmm.. Most that I can think of is various Titans having two different code names, so none of them could be the one with the most.

I was thinking of Duela Dent, who went by Penguin's Daughter, Riddler's Daughter, Catwoman's Daughter, Joker's Daughter, & Harlequin. Although only the last two were as a Titan.

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Another option might be Donna Troy, who has been Wonder Girl, Troia, Darkstar, Donna Troy, Harbinger and now Wonder Woman, although she wasn't an active Titan for all of them.

Posted by Vee on :

Both good guesses but each of them only served on the titans under two names (at least that I'm aware of.)

The person to which I'm refering has served as a Titan under three names (maybe four, depending on how you count them [Big Grin] )

Now I remember his third name.

Mal, Mal Duncan, Hornblower, & Guardian

Posted by Vee on :

You got it Quis. His identities included: Mal (Mal Duncan), Guardian, Hornblower, & Herald. Now of course he is known as Vox (but he's in the Doom patrol not the Titans,at least for now! [Big Grin] )

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Mal was an idiot. I mean, getting into a rocket that is supposed to be unmanned is just plain stupid.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

OK, Of Nightwing, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Changling, Cyborg, Starfire, & Raven, which had jobs outside of being a Titan and what was the job?

Posted by Vee on :

Wonder Girl (I assume you mean Donna) was a fashion photographer; Starfire was a fashion model; Changeling might still have been doing movies (not sure); I think Nightwing was a policeman towards the end of their run. Those are the only ones I can think off. Wally didn't become a police mechanic until much later and I don't recall Vic or Raven ever being shown to have jobs.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Wonder Girl and Starfire were the ones I was thinking of. Gar had definitely given up his acting career when he was a Titan. I don't believe Dick became a policeman until after the Titans. And Seeing how he only took that job as part of his work as Nightwing, I would not consider it an outside job.

Kind makes the Titans like the "Real World" roommates who don't need money to live.

Your question Vee.

Posted by Vee on :

The Titans are always cannon fodder for any DC event (at seen in IC) so...name the Titans that are still alive.

Posted by Vee on :

Okay, Ive stalled the thread long enough with that question so let me change it up in order to get this thread moving again.

Who was the first Titan ever to die?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Terra?

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Gnaark?

Posted by Calybos on :

Well, Wonder Girl, Aqualad and Kid Flash all died temporarily when fighting a gargoyle creature that ruled an evil-spirit realm.

But I'm guessing you mean a more permanent-type of death, lasting more than one story?

Posted by Vee on :

Gnaark is the answering to my question. His death is revealed in the Donna Troy wedding arc (in 1984) during a conversation between Mal & Karen with Lilith.

You're up next Princess!

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Red Star's fiance, Maladi, was infected with a virus and sent to America. She ended up dying from the virus at the end of the story. What was the significance of the day she died?

Who was Lilith's father?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Loren Jupiter? And wasn't her mother the Greek goddess/titan of the sun?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Dunno about her mom - but you are right about her dad. Wonder who came up with that idea? Anyway, take it, KK.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Argent and Freddy Freeman had an ill-fated romance that ended almost before it began. What went wrong on their first date?

He wouldn't say his name?

I know that's always been a problem for Junior....

Heh! No, but that would've been good.

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Didn't he not show up? I can't really remember, but it seems as though he didn't show up for some reason.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Why didn't Supergirl originally join the Teen Titans?

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Because only one token female is allowed in a super group? Or because then it would be even harder to find ways to make Aqualad useful?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Nope and nope

Posted by Lance's realm on :

And I was so sure it had to be one of those...hmmm...was Donna jealous since she wouldn't have all the guys to herself? (The little tramp!)

Posted by Spellbinder on :

Was she even still a teenager when the Teen Titans were formed?

I was!? Wow! I mean, of course I was! I knew it all the time!

Supergirl was interested in Kyle and didn't want to be around him and Donna?

I also blame him for poor life-choices I've made in the past... [Big Grin]

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Blame Lance's Realm then.

To clarify, I am talking about the original Teen Titans (Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, & Aqualad)

I really thought this would be an easy question.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

No problem, Krypton Kid. I'll take the blame. Hey, maybe that could be my codename - Scapegoat Kid! Wonder what my powers are...?

Was afraid she would overpower the group? I really don't remember this story...

She was already in the LSH?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Nope. But you are getting closer to the reason.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

OK, I think I've sussed it. At the time of the formation of the Teen Titans Supergirl was still Superman's "secret weapon".

Hm, except I think that qualifies as "story related". Well, I'll put it out there anyway.

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

I thought of that as well, but then I realized Supergirl's "debut" was a couple of years before the Titans first came together.

You guys are getting close, but not quite right.

The Superman's secret weapon answer is story related.

The TPTB answer is fairly close.

I'll give it til tomorrow then flip over all the cards and reveal the answer. (obscure "What's My Line?" reference)

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Does it have something to do with Weisinger's control of the character? Maybe that he was trying to mature her into an independent character, and sticking her in with the "teen sidekicks" group wouldn't be conducive to that?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

That is the answer. I don't know if it was for the reason you stated. Back in the days all the Superman titles were under the editorial control of Mort Weisinger. Teen Titans was under the control of a different editor who didn't have the "rights" to use Supergirl.

How different both the Titans and Supergirl would have been.

Sorry for the wait, I ve been having a hard time coming up with a good question.

Name the Titans that have had relatives of theirs' become Titan adversaries?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Starfire
Raven
Dove
Superboy
Jericho
Rose Wilson
Terra*
Wonder Girl
Kid/Flash
Magenta
Duela Dent...?
Atom

Its a start, but it might be easier to name those that didn't. I didn't list Arsenal because I don't think he a Chishire were married, and I can't recall the Guardian clone ever being an actual adversary.

Posted by Vee on :

Good start KK. I would have counted Cheshire but I think you're correct that she and Arsenal are not married. I can think of at least 2 more that need to be on this list.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Starfire
Raven
Dove
Superboy
Jericho
Rose Wilson
Terra*
Wonder Girl
Kid/Flash
Magenta
Duela Dent...?
Atom

Lilith
Kole
Baby Wildebeest*

Posted by Vee on :

Lilith is one of the two I was looking for. I wouldn't count Baby Wildebeest because to my knowledge his orgin was never fully explored and I'm not sure who you're thinking of that would be a relative of Terra's and an adversary of the Titans.

I did not remember the incident concerning Kole's parents, but that definitely would count as a valid answer, so I stand corrected.

Since you got 99% of a rather long list, I'll declare you the winner and turn over the next question to you.

The last relative I was counting belongs to Gar. Steve Dayton battled the Titans while in his crazy Mento persona.

Take it away KK!

Titan Golden Eagle was introduced in JLA #116-117 (1975). What was the title of #117?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Too political?

A: "I Have No Wings and Must Fly!"

New Question:
In Harlequin's first appearances she posed as the daughter of five Batman villains. Which dastardly DNA did Duela Dent dissimulate?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

She did Penguin's Daughter, Riddler's Daughter, Catwoman's Daughter, Scarecrow's Daughter, & Joker's Daughter.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Correct.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Not bad from memory.

Which Titans have been or are now members of another group? (Young Justice and Titans West do not count)

Posted by Calybos on :

Beast Boy/Changeling was in the Doom Patrol. Mal "Herald" Duncan has joined the Patrol as Vox, and so has Karen "Bumblebee" Beecher (in addition to working for STAR Labs).

Flamebird was in the Bat Family, but that's not really a team. CM Junior was likewise a member of the Marvel Family. Duela Dent/Joker's Daughter went undercover in the crime organization MAZE, posing as Card Queen.

Donna Troy was a Darkstar after being raised as a "Titan Seed" and an Amazon; Kyle Rayner was in the Green Lantern Corps.

I'm assuming we don't count the futuristic Team Titans either, right? Because several Titans are former-future members there, as well as Hank "Hawk" Hall, in his identity as Extant.

The original Terra was technically a HIVE employee while working with Slade.

Jericho worked for Searchers, Inc. (his mom's company) and also led the Wildebeest Society.

The original Robin--Dick Grayson--was in the Justice League (and the Outsiders), and Wally West was too, as well as JLX.

Roy Harper/Speedy/Arsenal was a CBI operative and member of the Outsiders. Danny Chase was a government agent too.

The Atom, of course, has been a longstanding JLA member. Lilithy Clay was briefly one of the Children of the Sun, and several Titans (including Raven) have been temporarily-brainwashed members of the Church of Brother Blood.

The revived Golden Eagle joined the Thanagarian army. Red Star was an employee/agent of the Soviet government (as was Pantha and Baby Wildebeest). Cyborg was merged with the Technis society for awhile. Damage is currently working with the Freedom Fighters; Jesse Quick was CEO of Quickstart and also worked as business manager to the JSA.

To my knowledge, the Supergirl who was with the Titans was Matrix; she's not the current Supergirl.

Whew! That's all I'm aware of.

I guess I should have been more specific with the term "group". I did mean another superhero team.

But you got all that I had except one (Starfire was a member of the Outsiders ) but got a couple I forgot (Kyle Rayner, Atom, and Donna Troy as a Darkstar)

Your question

Posted by Calybos on :

Here's a straightforward one: Where and in what condition is Steve Dayton, Changeling's stepfather?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

He is in the Prague with his new helmet and considers himself to be "the Master of Mentality".

Or has that changed?

Posted by Calybos on :

Yep. I didn't know how many people had seen how Infinite Crisis revised his status from "floating in cyberspace."

Your turn.

Hmmmmm.........

Who was Bethany Snow?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Snow was a TV news reporter and investigative reporter who was secretly a member of Brother Blood's cult. She led a smear campaign disgised as an expose about three members of the US Congress. These Congressmen were defeated and their seats were taken over by Blood supporters. That answer was from memory, so I might've given too much info for my own good.

Short answer: Bethany Snow was a royal b****!

I'll post a bit later, hopefully with a less mediocre question than my usual fare.

You are correct. I am having a tough time coming up with good Titans trivia, but I like to keep answering.

Go on, Vee.

go, vee.

Posted by Vee on :

At one point, gar's cousin decided to hold a recruiting drive in order to start a new Titans West. Name 3 of those who turned up for the meeting (which turned into a beer blast)

Posted by Bevis on :

Gar (natch), Flamebird, Hawk and Dove (the ones with the wings who were in a band), Blue Devil, Bushido, Dollman and Dollgirl, Dial H for Hero (and his boyfriend), Mary Marvel and CM3, Terra (I think) and some others that I forget. Plus Harlequin crashed the party as well.

Posted by Vee on :

That's more than enough. You're up Bevis.

Posted by Bevis on :

I was quite pleased how easily I remembered that off the top of my head. [Big Grin]

Linked to the above question, the recruitment drive did indeed turn into a kegger. It was pointed out which of the characters present were the only underagers there and as such weren't drinking. Who were they?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Mary Marvel and CM3? I think those were the only ones....?

Posted by Bevis on :

There's one more as well as those two.

Posted by Bevis on :

Hint: The other udnerager isn't actually someone who has ever been associated before or since with the Teen Titans but does fit in terms of their age.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

The Dial H for Hero guy?

Posted by Vee on :

Th girl that gets drunk?

Posted by Blacula on :

One of the Doll People?

Posted by Bevis on :

Nope, nope, nope.

He's a character introduced in a JLA issue who is a JSA member.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Oh Jakeem.

Posted by Bevis on :

That's the one. As far as I'm aware it's the only time he's ever been linked to the Titans though.

Not sure who gets the next qeustion. Quis got the one that was stumping everyone but KK got the other two, so...

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Go for it Quis.

[Color Kid]

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Oh I was going to have you go for it as you got more correct (and I also needed a hint) But, I'll post an easy question just to keep the thread moving.

What was Adrain Chase's job before he became the Vigilante?

Posted by Calybos on :

Wasn't he a D.A.?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Yes he was. Your question Calybos

Posted by Calybos on :

Here's an easy one. What was the name of Mal Duncan's club after he left the Titans?

Posted by Vee on :

Gabriel's Horn?

Posted by Calybos on :

Correct. Your turn.

Posted by Vee on :

Name all the memebrs of the JLA that have been Titans.

Posted by Bevis on :

Vee, I think we might already have had this question earlier. It certainly sounds familiar. That said without going back and checking, off the top of my head:

Nightwing
Green Lantern
Atom
Arsenal
Flash (Wally, obviously)

erm... I'm assuming we're not counting any of the JLAmazon/Atlantic/etc. groups from that sucky crossover a while back. Otherwise I think Donna Troy, Starfire and Tempest probably count as well.

Posted by Vee on :

Hmmm...don't remember us having the question before but it's certainly possible. In any case, you got all the ones I can think of. You're up, Bevis.

Posted by Bevis on :

Oooh, I didn't actually expect to get the answer right. [Big Grin]

OK, we may already have had this one as well, but...

Name at least three real people that attended Donna Troy's wedding.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Marv Wolfman, Len Wein, & Jeanette Kahn

Posted by Bevis on :

Wolfman was certainly shown, Wein I think was on the guest list but didn't appear in an actual panel. Did Kahn appear? I don't remember ever seeing anything with her or her name, but I could be wrong.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Well, I looked up the answer (and disqualified myself from future guesses) Wolfman is a correct answer for being there and drawn in. I could argue that Len Wein is a correct answer as you only asked who attended and signing the guest book is proof of attendence. But Jeanette Kahn is incorrect.

Posted by Bevis on :

Yeah, I agree about the arguement for Wein. We never saw him, but if we go by the guest book he was certainly there so he does count. There are quite a few others though (a few who actually were shown and loads who signed the guest book) so the question is still open. Actually, one of the other real attendees is actually quite obvious when you think about one of the ones you've already mentioned Quis.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

OK, that was a long time ago, but based on the clues:

Wolfman, Wein, and...George Perez?

Posted by Bevis on :

Yup, Perez was the other obvious one I was thinking of. Sting, Pavarotti and Michael Jackson were also there 'in person' and people that signed the guest book included Mike DeCarlo, Michele Wolfman, Jessica Wolfman (daughter of Marv and Michele), Todd Klein, Rob Liefield, Dick Giordano and John Costanza, plus a whole load of others.

So, I guess it's KKs turn.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

[Quislet]

You aren't seeing the beautiful bean footage? It's been running in a loop as part of my signature. [Wink]

Name all the Titans that have been adopted or wards.

Posted by Calybos on :

Gar Logan/Changeling, obviously. And Dick Grayson/Robin. And I believe Roy Harper/Arsenal was adopted by an Indian tribe. Donna Troy's been a ward or adoptee too many times to count.

Bart Allen/Impulse/Kid Flash was a ward of Max Mercury. Aquagirl (possibly not officially a Titan) was a foundling, and Garth/Aqualad/Tempest was Aquaman's ward. Charley Parker/Golden Eagle was adopted and moved between foster homes. Gnarrk was a STAR Labs ward. Kon-el/Superboy, of course, was adopted by the Kents.

Cyborg's parents died, so he was adopted by his grandparents. The Secret was a DEO orphan when she met Young Justice, but she never became a Titan. When Danny Chase's parents were unavailable, he was a ward of the CBI. Baby Wildebeest was a ward of Red Star and Pantha, and Lilith was adopted by the Clays. When her parents died, Kole became a ward of Adeline Wilson.

Bushido's parents are dead, but I don't know he ever became a ward or adoptee. Let's see... Did we ever learn anything about Duela Dent's family situation (other than her various parentage claims)?

Posted by Vee on :

Calybos certainly got the lion's share of them...here are the only others I can remember.

I believe Red Star was a ward of the state and may have been adopted by Dr. Raskov, his father's best friend.

Damage, of course, was raised by the Emersons who were not his real parents. He later found out that he was the son of Al Pratt, the original Atom.

Captain Maarvel Jr, was raised by his grandfather when both his parents died.

Aquagirl 2 (Lorena) lost her parents in the San Diego catastrophe. Aquaman took her in and she joined him in protecting Sub Diego's residents

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I'll give it to Calybos. Although I don't think Cyborg was adopted by his grandparents as I think he was at the age of majority when his father died. And Roy was the ward (ala Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne) of Oliver Queen.

You forgot Tim Drake who has been adopted by Bruce Wayne

Posted by Calybos on :

This should be easy.

For awhile, Lilith was chased around by an amnesiac guy with wings, dressed in gold armor.

What was his name... AND who gave that name to him?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Ariel? Raven?

Posted by Calybos on :

Nope. Think "Smurfs."

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Pretty sure it was Azrael...I have no idea who named him though.

Posted by Vee on :

The name was Azrael.

Although your clue makes me wonder if he was named by the Guardians of the Universe ("Smurfs") I'm pretty sure that it was actually by Mother Mayhem of the Church of Brother Blood, who tells him he is actually the Angel of Death, Azrael.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I looked up the answer after making my guess. Azrael and the Church of Brother Blood are the correct answers. The Smurfs reference is to his name "Azrael" which is the name of the evil cat in the Smurf cartoon.

Posted by Calybos on :

Correct, Vee... and thanks for clarifying, Quislet.

Posted by Vee on :

The parents or family members of Titans tend to be an interesting group on their own. What happened to Kole's?

Her father experimented on her mother to turn her into a praying-mantis type hybrid, and when the Titans confronted him, some of his equipment overloaded, presumably killing him and all his creations.

Hehehe! [Smile]

Let me dig up a question....

Posted by Vee on :

Pre-crisis, how did Hawk & Dove get their powers?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

some mysterious god-like voice came out of nowhere and offered it to them, as I recall.

Posted by Vee on :

Right you are, Kent! Take it away

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Who did Dick and Kory see in line ahead of them while waiting to get into a Broadway musical?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Hint: it was someone who later had their own series.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Adrian Chase?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

you got it.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

How many Titans have changed their superhero name?

Posted by Bevis on :

Robin/Nightwing
Kid Flash/Flash
Aqualad/Tempest
Speedy/Arsenal
Wonder Girl/Troia/Donna Troy/however many millions of names she's had
Beast Boy/Changeling
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)/Ion
Rose Wilson/Ravager (not really a name change but certainly a new identity
Lilith/Omen (again same as with Rose)

I'm sure there must be more though.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

There are 4 more that I can think of.

I wouldn't count Rose Wilson/Ravager, but would Lilith. My reasoning is that Lilith worked as a superhero/Titan under Lilith, but I don't think Rose Wilson did. (yes I know she was the official babysitter as Rose, but I don't count that as working as a superhero/Titan)

Posted by Bevis on :

OK, thinking more about this.

Starfire/Red Star

Are you counting Matrix/Supergirl asa superhero name change? I'm not sure if they wouldn't actually count as two personas rather than just identities. Same for Cyborg/Technis.

D'oh. And of course Impulse/Kid Flash/Flash.

I can't think of any more though, which probably means I'm missing someone really obvious.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

oops Starfire/Red Star is one I was thinking of but then forgot. I'm going to give it to you Bevis. You did come up with the lion's share.

I didn't think of Matrix or Technis

The others I thought of were:

Joker's Daughter/Harlequinn
Mal/Guardian/Hornblower
Slag/Joto

Edited to add:
Bat-Girl/Flamebird

Posted by Bevis on :

Did Bette ever actually change her ID from Bat-Girl it Flamebird or was that just a straight retcon (so that in effect she'd never been Batgirl)? I shoulda remembered Joker's Daughter as well and probably Mal but I didn't know Joto ever went by a different name. Mind, I've never really read any issues that featured any of that team so I can be forgiven for that. [Smile]

Right, new question...

Name all the characters that have been members of both the Titans and Young Justice.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Superboy
Robin
Impulse
WonderGirl
CM3?

Posted by Vee on :

I think that's all of them KK, though Bevis will have to confirm. I couldn't decide if CM3 was actually a member of Young Justice or just an ally myself so I didn't get around to posting the reply [Big Grin] .

Posted by Bevis on :

There are a couple more as well. At least two were official members and there were probably a few who turned up in issue... #50 or so where they went to the island that Empress came from. I think they probably count as the YJ reserves though so i wouldn't count them.

CM3 was indeed a full member at teh same time as the other two members that I'm thinking of.

Posted by Vee on :

I'm thinking Kid Devil may have been one, along with Beast Boy and Flamebird. And Damage, Risk and Terra were in issue 50 also, I think. So I guess they are part of the reserves.

[ November 19, 2006, 08:25 AM: Message edited by: Vee ]

Posted by Bevis on :

Beat Boy and Flamebird were the other two full members that I was looking for. Damage, Risk, Terra and Kid Devil are indeed all in the big group from issue 50 (I don't think it ever states they're just the reserves but nor are they really full members so I'd call them reserves). I think that's all the ones that are left.

Not sure who should get the next question. KK answered first but Vee got the slightly more obscure ones.

Posted by Vee on :

KK was first and got most of the actual members so I think he should go.

A side note...can anyone tell me who all those other Young Justice allies were? Besides the Wonder Twins, Spoiler, Lagoon Boy and one or two others I don't think I had ever seen most of them.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I think the post-ZH Inferno was one of them too, but haven't a clue who the rest are.

Posted by Bevis on :

From the cover of #50? I can't name them all, although I think most of them get named in the issues that they appear in, but from looking at the cover I can name:

Terra, CM3, Grey Lady (I think), Jakeem Thunder, Wondergirl, the Wonder Twins, Stargirl, Ray, Robin, Spoiler, Superboy, Secret, Sweet Sixteen, Damage, Arrowette (sort of), Lagoon Boy, Impulse, Empress, L'il Lobo, Risk and the rest of the Point Men (again, I think that's what they're called but I'd have to check back through the issues to be certain). Plus possibly those New Gods ones. The Tomorrow People? Something like that. Oddly no Beast Boy or Flamebird though.

Gods I'm a geek...

Posted by KryptonKid on :

I'm not sure who has the next question, but whomever wants to jump in is fine with me.

[PhantomGirl - Animated]

Posted by Vee on :

What Titans were on the mission in which Robin 2 (Jason Todd) joined the Titans for an adventure in Switzerland?

Posted by Blacula on :

Flash (Wally)
Wonder Girl (Donna)
Speedy (Roy)
Aqualad (Garth)
and
Hawk (Hank)

I loved seeing all those old 60s / 70s Titans in an adventure together again in that story but it was *mondo-weird* having Jason Todd along with them as their Robin!

And it was pretty depressing seeing how dysfunctional that group was as a team. But then again - that whole era was pretty depressing anyway, really.

Posted by Vee on :

Right you are Blacula! You're up with the next question.

Posted by Blacula on :

OK - The Titans are currently on their third 'Titans Tower'.

The first one was destroyed twice before being abandonded and the second one only once. Please tell us the three villains who destroyed them.

Posted by Blacula on :

Gee and I thought this question was gonna be too easy.

Here're some big clues -

The first Tower was destroyed at the beginning of the Baxter run and then for a final time during Titans Hunt.

The second "Tower" was destroyed during Jay Faerbar's run.

Posted by Blacula on :

Clue #2 time -

The names of the three villains who destroyed the Towers start with T, W.S. and E respectively.

Anyone who gets 2 out of 3 can have the next question.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Trigon
Wildebeast Society
Elephant Man
?

Posted by Blacula on :

Close enough Kent. I figured Faebar's much-maligned run would be the one no on remembers. It was Epsilon not the Elephant Man who destroyed their hologram Tower/base in that series.

Over to you.

Thank, B. Forgot about this (I guess I assumed I was wrong, other than Trigon).

Rather than delay this with lots of research, I'll ask an easy one.

Name the first two Titans to share a beverage with Slade Wilson (on panel).

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Terra and Changeling?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

you are correct. Joseph no doubt did before they, but not on-panel (by that point at least).

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Ok here we go...

Who was the first Titan the join the group?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

?
you may want to clarify - join the existing group? or all the original founders?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Hmmm.... This seems like a trick question.

I would say Wonder Girl. She was found (aka retconned) to be a Titan. I don't think any other member was a Titan. Plus one could say that the formation of the group was the teaming up of Robin, Kid Flash, & Aqualad. So, when Wonder Girl showed up, she would have been the first to join.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

That was the answer I was going for, Quis. Take it...

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Going from their dates of birth, which Titan is the oldest?

Posted by Vee on :

Gnarrk

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

yup. I was thinking of just asking which Titan was the oldest.

Posted by Vee on :

Name all the Titans that have married

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Donna, Starfire (to that guy on her planet), Wally, Garth (to Dolphin, right?), Mal & Karen, I think Lilith was married to Gnarrk, but that may have been ret-conned out, and if you count him as a Titan, Ray Palmer.

Posted by Vee on :

I think that's all of them (at least all of the ones I recall) Good job Quis! You're up

Although from the current line-up, did Ravager (Rose Wilson) appear in another comic before Titans?

You also have Miss Martian, Zatara, gee I am forgetting all those new Titans that appearred in flashback.

I'm giving it to you, Vee, because you have the majority.

Would have been easier & shorter to answer which Titans first appeared in another series before joining! [Big Grin]

Rose first appeared in an issue of Deathstroke if I'm not mistaken.

How did Damage come to the Titans attention?

Posted by Vee on :

Oops! Double post

Posted by Blacula on :

(I might just be being anal but I've got this quick addendum to Quis' previous question - Starfire, Raven and Cyborg first appeared in an issue of DC Comics Presents and Argent, Risk, Joto and Prysm first appeared in one of the Superman titles before any of them appeared in a Titans comic.)

Well I know for a fact that Starfire, Raven, & Cyborg were part of a special Teen Titans insert and not part of the regular book. So I don't consider that appearing in another comic. Although that is a valid take on the question I asked.

I assume the same thing with Argent, Risk, Joto, & Prysm.

Sorry for taking so long!

I'm not a Titans expert, not by a long shot, so let's do an easy one.

During JLA/Titans, that lucky Dick was being checked out by at least 5 female heroes. Who were they?

No need to wait for confirmation [Smile]

Posted by Blacula on :

Starfire, Flamebird, Mirage, Huntress and... Oracle?

Posted by Blacula on :

Well I'm pretty sure I got 4 of them right so I'm just gonna go ahead and ask the next question...

Which Titan once had a father who was President of Sun Publishing?

Posted by Vee on :

Lilith?

Posted by Blacula on :

Correctamundo! You're up Vee.

Posted by Vee on :

I'm pretty sure you're correct KryptonKid. Go ahead and ask the next question.

She was Donna's roommate in college (I think) and then a Bridesmaid at her wedding.

Yup. Although the college roommate was a ret-con. Originally she was just became Donna's roommate when the other Titans found out the Donna was sleeping at the headquarters.

Posted by Blacula on :

Beast Boy, Pantha, Jericho (and Mas) are correct Bevis but you get demerit points for leaving off the final character - who happens to be my favourite Titan of all time! For shame!

[Maximilian G Odd]

Posted by Blacula on :

Nope. You and Bevis are both very close though.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Raven?

Posted by Blacula on :

Nope. It wasn't one of the regular 5.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Mal?

Posted by Blacula on :

Ding! Ding! Ding! Quislet has it! Mal (as Herald) was indeed the other Titan who took down the Brotherhood at the end of the toon.

Next question is yours Quis.

Posted by Blacula on :

Bump for a Mr Quislet Esquire.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Hmmmmmm.........

The original Teen Titans West consisted of who?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Let's see if memory serves. Bat-Girl was playing tennis on a flying aircraft-carrier...
Bat-Girl,Beast Boy,Golden Eagle, Lilith, Gnark, Hawk, and Dove. (When I first read this story as a boy in California I realized that almost every super-hero lived on the East Coast of the USA.)

This is from memory, so I must wait for confirmation.

[Color Kid]

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

That is what I remember too. Your question KK

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Who gave Kid Devil his powers?

[Maximilian G Odd]

Posted by Caliente on :

Neron, right?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

That's it!

[PhantomGirl - Animated]

Posted by Caliente on :

Okay, hmm... which of the original five wasn't present in the original Teen Titans v1 #1?

Posted by Reboot on :

Speedy

Posted by Caliente on :

Guess that question was too easy. Your go, Reboot.

Posted by Reboot on :

Crap. I clicked on this by accident, and didn't actually notice which trivia thread this was...

Why did Inferno quit the Titans tryouts?

Posted by Reboot on :

Right, that's a full week, so I'll just say that "Impulse turned up" was the reason and that next person to post gets the question.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Kara noticed that there was no Super Woman in the adult Titans. Whom else did she say was missing?

Posted by Blacula on :

Clue time me-thinks.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Hint #1:The other Titan who didn't have an adult version was also female.

Posted by Blacula on :

Miss Martian?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Ravager?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Ravager it is. Yerrup, Q-t!

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

During the Silver Age by what nickname were the Teen Titans also known by?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Junior Justice League?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I was thinking of a more slangy nickname, but Junior Justice League fits. So, it is your question. The nickname I was thinking of was "the Fab Four" stolen from the Beatles.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

What was the defining philosophical characteristic of Aqualad's people?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Pacifism?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

That's what I was looking for! Take it, Quis.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

What was the impossible rent demanded by Mr. Twister of the citizens of Hatton Corners?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Shot in the dark:

$500/month?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Nope. That, at the time, might have been outrageous rent, but not impossible. Hint: it was not a dollar amount.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

He...wanted their teenagers...?

Where was MSNBC?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

The teenagers he took was because the town wouldn't/couldn't pay this rent.

Hint: at the time his ancestor made this rent agreement with the town, the rent would have been easily gotten, thus making for a cheap rent.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Jeeze, I read the issue, but it was decades ago. I must assume the the villains motive was diabolicly groovy.

I think I own this comic, but it is in storage...maybe.

A: The groove funk of their collective guitars.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Nope. Mr. Twister knew the rent was impossible, but was using it as a pretext to get control of the town. The question again is: What was the impossible rent Mr. Twister demanded of the town of Hatton Corners?

A clue can be found in the cover to the story
 -

Posted by Lance's realm on :

He wanted one passenger pigeon feather.

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

That was the rent. When his ancestor made that the rent, passenger pidgeons were very common. But by this time, they had become extinct.

You are up, Lance's realm.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Ok, here we go...

Who was Holley Hip, and which Titan really wanted to investigate Holley Hip?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

I'd guess she was a co-hort of the Mad Mod and I'll guess Kid Flash wanted to investigate her.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Gotta be Speedy. He loved undercover investigation.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

No and no.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Ok, Holley Hip was a singer, and the only female member at the time was the one who flipped for him. If you can name her, go ahead and ask the next question. Don't even bother waiting for confirmation.

Posted by Lance's realm on :

Ok, the answer is Wonder Girl. The next Q goes to whomever wants it.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

To get the game restarted, I'll give an easy one.

Don't even bother waiting for confirmation.

Which Titan was said to have been created by Marv Wolfman to die, and did indeed meet her end not long after her introduction?

She would reappear again a little later, but was explained away as a time anomaly.

Posted by Blacula on :

That would be the lovely, killed before her time KOLE.

(Though the clues also kinda fit TERRA who was always intended by Marv to die a villain less than a year after she arrived and would later resurface under weird, never really unexplained time-traveller/clone/resurrected/time-anomaly/earth elemental circumstances as Terra II.)

Sticking with Kole - in both the DCU and the animated Titans universe she had close, semi-romantic attachments with different fellow Titans. Who were they?

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

In the Animated Universe, she was tied with Gnarrk. Don't remember for the DCU. Jericho?

Posted by Blacula on :

Yes and Yes, Quis. Your question.

Posted by Blacula on :

Since the Titans are getting lots of love in their own forum again these days, I thought I'd bump this thread again too!

So Mr Quislet Esquire - I believe we've been waiting nearly 3 years for your question. You must have come up with a good one after all that time to think about it. [Big Grin]

What television show did Gar Logan star in?

Posted by Karl Earl Nick Tain on :

Space Trek 2022!

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

That was it. Your question Mr. Tain

Posted by Karl Earl Nick Tain on :

dang. now I gotta ask something. [Frown]

From New Teen Titans vol. 1, what incorrect legal technicality came up at Deathstroke the Terminator's trial, probably the result of Marv Wolfman mixing up/misremembering his own stories?

Posted by Power Boy on :

that he was defending himself ... the titans were harassing him?

was a long time ago haha

Posted by Karl Earl Nick Tain on :

nope

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Did he claim self-defense?

Posted by Power Boy on :

oh oh, that they didn't know it was actually Slade Wilson because Deathstroke is masked.

Posted by Karl Earl Nick Tain on :

no, and no.

Posted by Power Boy on :

he can't be tried twice for the crime.

was this when gar busted up the courthouse ....

nope. this has something to do with Wolfman mixing up two of his Wolfman/Perez stories.

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

He wasn't actually responsible for his crime, that it was Terra? (When in actuality it was him but Wolfman forgot?)

Just a guess...

nope. Again, it has more to do with Marv mixing up two stories than anything related to individual characteristics.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

I think we need a hint or a new question.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

people haven't made use of prior hints, and there isn't much more to say without giving it away. slackers, the lot of ye!

okay, then....

Who was the first real-life comics artist to be "killed" in a Titans comic?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

not even a single guess?

hint:
George Perez drew the issue in question.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

no guesses after a full month? damn, you people are slackers!

another hint: She appeared under her maiden name.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Romona Fredan?

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

uhhhh... bump?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

good guess! but nope.
(aside: I've actually been to Ramona Fradon's house!)

hint: the woman in question had not yet done any art for DC at the time of this story (at least not professionally, or under her own name, that I'm aware of. And I followed her work a lot back i the day).

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Kim Yale?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

nope.

hint: she is best-known for a creator-owned comics venture, not for work for the Big Two (although she has done some).

Posted by Dev Em on :

Colleen Doran?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Wendy Pini?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Wendy Pini, in-story called by her maiden name Wendy Fletcher, was killed by Brother Blood back during his very first storyline.

go, Quis!

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Hmmmmm....

I can't think of a really good trivia question, so I'll ask a real easy one.

What hid the Teen Titans first secret headquarters?

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Wasn't it a cave? ...bushes?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

a letter column! [Wink]

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

rickshaw, the headquarters was a cave, but what hid the cave from prying eyes?

Posted by Blacula on :

An advertising sign. (Or am I thinking of the Batman TV show?)

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

It was an billboard advertising the Batman TV Show.

Your question Blacula

Posted by Blacula on :

^ Oh. Haha. Pop culture swirls around in my brain now creating a strange mish-mash.

Which Titan's real name was only revealed after their death?

Posted by Future on :

Hmmm. Pantha?

Posted by Blacula on :

4 minutes! Next question to you quick-draw Future.

Posted by Future on :

Holy cow. I actually don't even know what her real name is (though I suppose I can now look it up on Wikipedia without feeling like I'm cheating).

Rosabelle Mendez. Huh. Fun fact! Good one, Blacula.

Posted by Future on :

Hm. Okay! I can think of eleven (possibly twelve?) Titans that have served on both a Titans-related team and as a member of the Justice League (America, International, Task Force, or otherwise).

Name them!

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Hunh.

Nightwing
Donna Troy
Aresenal
Flash (wally)
Supergirl
Powergirl?
Damage?
Cyborg
Thunder ?
Lightning?
Kyle

No real clue

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

dadblam it... Starfire

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Nightwing
Donna Troy
Arsenal
Wally West
Tempest (Justice League of Atlantis)
Starfire (Justice league of Aliens)
Cyborg
Beast Boy (Justice League of Adventure)
Kyle Rayner
Jesse Quick
Atom

Posted by Future on :

Hmm. I wasn't actually considering the different Justice League of A's, though I suppose those do work. Since I wasn't 100% sure on my list being all-inclusive anyway, I'll go ahead and turn things over to Quislet, Esq for guessing the most correct.

rickshaw got 8 of the ones I was thinking of while Quis got 9. The ones I could think of were:

Nightwing
Donna Troy
Red Arrow
Flash (Wally)
Cyborg
Starfire
Green Lantern (Kyle)
Atom
Jesse Quick
Captain Marvel Jr / Shazam
Supergirl

Damage was recruited by Justice League Task Force, but never joined up to my knowledge. He and Bart Allen just helped out on an adventure.

And technically Tattooed Man, though really he's just with Deathstroke's Titans and his time with the League was, if I'm not mistaken, rather honorary and short-lived during Final Crisis?

There's probably a ton of possible exceptions if we really get into it, so I'll bow out and hand things over to Quis!

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I had forgotten Jesse was with the titans. I really only vaguely recall it now that I'm reminded.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

And I had completely fogotten Ray. Quis, let us have'it ma' man.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Future,

Regarding Captain Marvel Jr. I don't think he was in the JLA. He was in Cry for Justice (aka Cry for a Better Story). But the characters in that, while featuring a few JLA members, wasn't really the JLA.

Oh coming up with another question. Think, think, think, think...

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

This might be an easy question too.

Where did Speedy first meet the Teen Titans?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

In Japan?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Yes in Japan. You have the question, but for bonus, what were they doing in Japan?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Attending the Olympics. The issue is a flashback (which is odd, because in the next issue or so it is referenced as though it were a recent case).

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

You have the question Eryk

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Bump for EDE's.

Posted by Power Boy on :

wonder girl.

Hint: This occurred in the second appearance of a fan fave Titans villain!

Posted by Blacula on :

^ That clue could only mean Goth ( [Big Grin] ), so... Argent?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

No way, ducky!

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Robin?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Bingo!

Robin was trapped in the Tower of London during the second appearance of the Mad Mod, thus requiring the other Titans to face the Criminal of Carnaby Street without the brains of the team!

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Your "ducky" made me think of the Mad Mod. And as Kid Flash & Wonder Girl would not have been trapped in the Tower of London and Aqualad would have died if he had been trapped there for a night, that left Robin (Speedy already being ruled out)

This might be an easy one.

What Titan worked for STAR Labs?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

No guesses?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

I'm tempted to guess, but I really don't want the next question, given how my last two went.

Posted by Blacula on :

That would be Karen Beecher-Duncan.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Yes it would be. Your question Blacula

Posted by Blacula on :

Here's a fairly easy one -

Before the New Teen Titans series started it had a preview in an an issue of DC Comics Presents. Who was Superman's guest-star in that issue?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

I think it was Green Lantern

Posted by Blacula on :

Quis, your thinking is correct.

Your question.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

I had it somewhere, but then I got the bright idea to take it out and have it be its own comic.

I also got the bright idea to get a Teen Titans number 1 signed by wolfman and perez, not knowing it would devalue the book. still, I bought it to read, not collect, so I don't really care.

[LOL]

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Having an issue autographed by the writer and artist devalues the book??????

OK, what do Kid Flash, Hawk & Dove, and Starfire have in common? (aside from being Teen Titans)

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

all had multiple incarnations, different people using the same names, with some sort of connection to the Titans?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Not the common thread I have in mind. You are on the correct track in thinking about something the characters have in common.

If there are no other guesses in the next two days, consider the question yours.

Posted by Blacula on :

I'm gonna go with a loopy guess and say that this is a trick question and that when you wrote Starfire you were talking about the now Red Star and say that all have been shown to have political views of some kind.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Nope, that is not it. And by Kid Flash I mean Wally West, Hawk & Dove are Hank & Don Hall, & Starfire is Princess Koriand'r.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

I am going to give this to Kent. His answer, although not the one I was looking for, does apply to those characters.

My link was that Wally West, Hank & Don Hall, and Koriand'r all had both biological parents living when they first joined the Titans.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Excluding Dick Grayson/Robin's prophetic visions of the future New Teen Titans, what other two reoccurring characters also appeared with Dick in the New Teen Titans insert preview inside DC Comics Presents #26?

Posted by Blacula on :

Jenette Klyburn?
And the Police Captain (whose name I'm forgetting) - Hall I think?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

nope and nope.

but you are on the right track in thinking of an African-American and a STAR Labs scientist.

Posted by Blacula on :

Your clues reminded me of a very obvious one I can't believe I forgot about since the whole story kinda revolved around him - Cyborg's Dad, Silas Stone.

The other one has me stumped.

... Alfred?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Silas Stone, yes.

not Alfred.
wrong gender.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Silas Stone & Bethany Snow?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

too early for Bethany. and wrong hair color.

We have Silas Stone for one.
other guesses have focused on other supporting characters.

HINT: supporting characters are not the only kind of reoccurring characters.

Posted by Blacula on :

Clues -

* Re-occuring character
* Female
* Younger than Cyborg's Mum
* Not a brunette

Did the 'African-American' and 'scientist' clues pertain to her too Kent or was that just for Cyborg's Dad?

I'm trying to think through the events of the story - Robin gets called to S.T.A.R. Labs to deal with a shooter holding hostages. While there he has a weird vision that's a mixture of the future (with him as a member of a new group of Teen Titans) and the past (with the team battling the monster that turned Victor Stone into Cyborg and killed his Mum) brought upon him by the mysterious girl in the shadows - Raven.

Who, now that I think about it, is surely the answer to this question.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Raven it was.

Glad you got it, Blacula, as I won't be around to keep tabs on this thread.

Posted by Blacula on :

I can't believe I didn't guess Raven straight away since I knew she was in the story. I think I was focusing on supporting characters too much.

I'm super-busy at Uni at the moment so I won't have time to monitor this thread too much either.

So I'll ask a really easy question and whoever gets it first can just go ahead and ask the next one.

Rather than as her side-kick, early Wonder Girl stories actually depicted her as the junior version of whom?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Wonder Woman herself

Another easy question. Wally is related to Barry (Flash) Allen how?

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

nephew by marriage, he's Iris' nephew by blood.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Yup, ask away

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

This was the first JLA'er that guest starred in New Teen Titans in a solo guest spot after the first meeting of the groups.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

I don't think so. At least it is not the Neil Rischards I am thinking of.

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

It is the Mad Mod.

Excellent.

Name the Titans' story that featured the characters Eddie Tallbow (who WG thought was dreamy) and Old Sourdough Anson Larson (who referred to the Titans as "youngtimers").

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Is that the story that has Wonder Girl turned into a witch on the cover?

Posted by Jerry on :

It is not.

Posted by Jerry on :

Hint:

Eddie Tallbow was a ski instructor.

Posted by Jerry on :

Looks like time is is up?

I think this thread is dying. I am going to ask an easy question and see if anyone responds.

Which Teen Titan hails from Blue Valley?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Wally West?

(er, I may not be representative of the posters here. I haven't actually been active!)

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

It is Wally West.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Thanks!

Poor Kole had a very short run with the Titans, but to DC's credit, they often give her cameos (or even a line or two!) when they revisit the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Kole appeared in the DCU: Legacies, but she also appeared in another miniseries where a Justice League member was shown being quite taken with her.

Who is that Justice Leaguer?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Hmmm, hope it's not too hard.

Hint 1: Joined after the Satellite Era

Hint 2: That Leaguer also appeared in the original Crisis

That should narrow it down [Smile]

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Firestorm?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Nope, EDE. The answer joined a little bit later in JLA history.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Vibe?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Crap! You said "after" the Satellite Era! I thought you said "during"!

I'll try Steel!

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Good guess too, EDE, but Quis got it! It was indeed Vibe, who was so busy staring at Kole that he didn't even here Harbinger's speech.

You're up Quis!

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

How did Psimon of the Fearsome Five get his powers?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

He was transformed by Trigon?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Oh sorry for not checking sooner. You are correct IB.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Thanks for reminding me too Quis!

Something fairly easy...

Name two villains whom Kole fought.

If I remember right, there were only 3 real villains... not counting her parents, whose status is arguable.

One is Titans-related (and now a good guy)
Another is not really considered a Titans villain (and was arguably a good guy for a while)
The third was a goddess and definitely Titans-related!

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

That was during a time when I had taken a brief break due to ... negative fiscal accounts. I never saw her in anything other than the death in Crisis.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

She did fight someone in Crisis, though, and made quite a good showing, since that someone was thrashing the heck out of two other heroes!

Posted by Blacula on :

Good question IB!

1. She turned Black Adam's arm into crystal in Crisis (who at the time was pounding on Robotman and... Dove I believe. Or was it Mento?)

2. She fought Thia (who had been holding her captive or something) in her introduction storyline.

3. And did she fight everyone's favourite cry-baby Azrael while he was trying to kidnap Lilith?

4. I guess you could also say she fought some Shadow Demons too... but we all know how that turned out. [Frown]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Oh man, I totally forgot about this thread.

Great answer, Blacula. I didn't think to include 3 and 4. The third answer I was thinking of was her fighting a deranged Mento.

You're up!

and yes, I miss Kole too [Frown] An example of a character death done right - They made us care about her and gave her a heroic death.

Posted by Blacula on :

Here's an easy one sticking with the Kole theme -
In only her few appearances in the Titans comics and animations worlds, Kole has been closely romantically linked to two different characters. Please name them.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Jericho and Gnaark?

Posted by Blacula on :

Yes and Yes. Back to you IB.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

My bad, was out of town for the weekend. Got stranded on an island, too! That'll teach me to take a boat out in a storm.

Continuing with the Kole theme...

Kole was summoned once by Kid Eternity. When she was back, which new Teen Titan complimented her on how cool she was?

Posted by Future on :

This sounds like a job for ... Miss Martian?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Sorry, nope! The Titan in question was a member at the same time, though.

Posted by Future on :

Kid Devil?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

You got it, Future. You're up!

Posted by Future on :

Donna Troy sure attracts the redheads. Name three redheaded lads who have thought she was just the grooviest.

Posted by Blacula on :

Wally
Roy
Terry
(and her son to make 4)
?

Posted by Future on :

Perfect, Blacula! I thought of including her son but the wording would have been weird. I also would have accepted Starfire, just because. [Big Grin] Whoops.

Your turn!

My question is on this cover -

Donna and Kory, mmmmmmmm. [Big Grin]

I think Trident was killed by his two partner Tridents?

Posted by Blacula on :

Yes he was IB. Over to you again.

Another Kole question...

Name at least 10 non-Titans heroes whom Kole has interacted with in the Crisis. By this, I mean exchanged dialogue with or specifically fought alongside. No fair naming heroes just because they were in the Crisis.

Posted by Blacula on :

I'm gonna purposely limit myself by not mentioning anyone from the team Kole and the Titans teamed up with in issue #3 to see if I can think of 10 others.

I'll start with the obvious ones -

1. Robin (Earth 2)
2. Huntress (Earth 2)

They died with Kole in issue #12.

3. Mary Marvel

Was there with them then and witnessed their deaths.

4. Robotman

I think it was he and Dove who teamed up with Kole to bring down Black Adam in issue #9 or 10.

5. Blok
6. Martian Manhunter
7. Azrael (if he counts as a non-Titan hero)

I think it was this group of heroes and Kole who went to the Charlton Earth to protect it.

8. Peter Cannon Thunderbolt

Am I right in thinking her crystal might have stopped him from running into the antimatter wave?

9. Batman (Earth 1)
10. Superman (Earth 1)

These two kinda teamed up with the Titans and the other team in issue #3.

My memory's pretty hazy of the Crisis (I really need to treat myself to the Absolute edition this Christmas) so I won't be surprised if some of them are wrong.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Blacula,

you have 1-4 right. 9 and 10 are right too! You also got Dove, I'll give you a point for him. So that's 7. 5-8 are wrong though; Kole was elsewhere at that time.

Posted by Blacula on :

I'm remembering my mistake now - she went to the Freedom Fighters Earth didn't she? Earth-X.

Or was it Earth-S, the Fawcett Earth?

I used to know that series so well.

Random guesses -

Flash I (Jay Garrick)
Northwind
Black Canary

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

It was Earth-S, Blacula - meaning you got Black Canary right.

You've already gotten 8/10, so the question will go to you no matter what. I won't reveal the other heroes though, since I'm thinking you might want to challenge yourself and guess them.

Back to you [Big Grin]

Nope, not Wally.

Changling?

Posted by Jerry on :

No, not Changling.

Hint: This may be a bit of a trick question as Lori never appeared in an Issue of Teen Titans proper. However, she should be familiar to Titan's fans because she appeared in the story that introduced a character who became a member of the team.

Not Damage.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Oh, wait, I think I remember reading a comic about that... Tim Drake?

Not Tim, but getting closer.

Not, Superboy. Closer in another way.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Dick Grayson?

Posted by Jerry on :

Yes, Dick Grayson dated Lori Elton while he attended Hudson University. She was created by Bob Rozakis, appeared in a couple of issues of Detective and several issues of Batman Family, including the issues with the Joker's Daughter story line.

Cool. I love it when these trivia questions turn into logic puzzles too, even if it's just a simple "closer, closer" thing.

Hmmm... I didn't really follow the Titans a lot, so I'm limited in what I can ask.

How about...

In Titans/Legion, the Legion had to take on the brainwashed Titans. Which 4 Legionnaires were inexplicably left behind when the team split up to engage the Titans?

PS I'm going from memory here. I remember the Legion splitting into four teams. I can't remember if Star Boy was on a team or not, so I'm not including him in the 4.

Also, allow me a minor rant - this miniseries was awful, most of the Legionnaires weren't used properly, and most of the decisions by the Legion, the Titans, and even the villain made little sense. Bah! The art was the only thing that was pretty.

Posted by Future on :

Hmm. Star Boy was on the second Atlantis mission I think with Thunder, Apparition, and Kid Quantum. Though I think that mission came later, seeing as how there was a previous Atlantis mission where Cos and Argent were thought lost. Anyway.

My guesses:
Kinetix, Kid Quantum II, Invisible Kid, and Brainiac 5?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Yes, Star Boy was on a mission, but that came after the Legion split up to fight the Titans.

You got some of them right, Future.

Posted by Blacula on :

I'd try to answer this Q but, like you IB, I thoroughly disliked this mini and have done my best to forget everything about it.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Wow Blacula, we have such good taste!

Posted by Future on :

Guessing again:
Kinetix, Kid Quantum II, Brainiac 5, Spark?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Sorry, Future, still one wrong.

Btw, I did some checking, and Star Boy was indeed also left behind. He just wasn't shown on-panel discussing the Titan's actions.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Hmmm, I stalled this thread too long. Future, you get the next Q! The 4th Legionnaire was Gates.

Team-ups were:

Pacific Ocean

Argent, Tempest vs. Cosmic Boy, Spark, Sensor, Chameleon and Element Lad

Mount Washington

Donna Troy, Arsenal and Starfire vs. Triad, Thunder, Monstress, Karate Kid and Ferro

UP Headquarters

Flash, Omen and Universo vs. Live Wire, Ultra Boy, Violet and XS

Titan

Starfire (cause Omen sent her - WHAT!) and Brother Blood vs. Saturn Girl, Umbra, Apparition, M'Onel and Invisible Kid

Reserve at Legion HQ

Brainiac 5, Kinetix, Kid Quantum II, Star Boy, Gates

Rant: Sending Spark underwater?? I'm no science major, but I know electricity + salt water = electrolysis. Why not send a Legionnaire whose powers would work unimpeded underwater? And Sensor never once used her illusion powers during the battle, which could have won them. Element Lad just whined about how his transmuting powers wouldn't be fast enough. what??

Rant 2: Sending a team with nearly identical powersets against Donna, Starfire and Arsenal? What??? If they'd sent Kinetix or Kid Quantum or Star Boy along they would have done so much better. Not dissing any of the 5 Legionnaires on that team, but come on! Super-strength and karate against... super-strength, energy blasts and archery?? Even if you argue that Thunder would be a match for Donna, what would the rest do to even the scales?

Rant 3: And suddenly Starfire appears on Titan too. Because Omen sent her. Okay, why? Just... why?

Rant 4: Just the fact that many of their more powerful (Kinetix, Kid Quantum, Star Boy) were left behind is plain stupidity. The excuses given (oh the Titans are heroes under mind control!) were silly - even Kinetix points out], in-story, that they outnumber the Titans 3-to-1 and should easily win. Bah, I say!

still, the art was very pretty, and I enjoyed looking at it immensely [Big Grin]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

PS - odd thing, but both Live Wire and Monstress died in that mini. Foreshadowing for Legion Lost, whose first issues came out concurrently?

Posted by Future on :

The funny thing is I mis-remembered Gates as being on the Titan mission - but now I remember you're correct and he was simply their teleport transit back to base. Karate Kid also died in the mini I believe, which wasn't foreshadowing so much as maybe a play on all the KK deaths past.

Back to the Titans!

Former Team Titan member Mirage always assumed she was from an alternate reality with the rest of her team. She was shocked to discover she was actually from the DCU we all know and love, having originally been a runaway street urchin from what country?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Brazil?

Posted by Future on :

Correct! Back to you, IB.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

When Cyborg got the Titans back together one time, several members commented that Cyborg was exceptionally thorough. Which four overlooked Titans made them say that?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Anyone?

Hint: This took place in a crossover involving another DC team.

Posted by Future on :

Ah! That jogged my memory. Is this from the JLA/Titans mini-series back in the 90s that pre-dated the first "The Titans" series?

Was it ... Flamebird, Bumblebee, Herald, and Omen?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Got it perfectly, Future!

Luckily, these four "forgotten" Titans have since proven themselves in battle, and I daresay they have earned greater respect within the DC superhero community (and among fans, too).

Posted by Blacula on :

Wait - I'm confused. Was that question asking us which 4 Titans Vic forgot to gather to take on the JLA? Because I'm sure I remember scenes of Mal and Karen (having dinner or something with her parents) and Bette (playing tennis with Dick) in his fake fantasy world - which suggests to me they weren't overlooked. Am I remembering things wrong?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Sorry, I guess the word "overlooked" was confusing in this context. By "overlooked" I meant that these 4 Titans were usually overlooked by the rest of the hero community, which was why their inclusion this time elicited comment.

A better word would probably have been "underestimated".

Posted by Blacula on :

Ohhh I get it now. I misread the question. But it has inspired me to re-read that book - probably the high-point of Devin Grayson's run on the Titans (and maybe even her time at DC) and some great art by Jiminez.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Nah, my fault for picking the wrong word. But yeah, it was a great mini, and they made it great WITHOUT killing anyone off.

All the participants were written well (although I remember Joto didn't get a single line, but he was the only one - even Flamebird, Bumblebee, Mirage got good moments!)

Posted by Future on :

The phrasing did take me a second, but I'm glad for that because likewise it made me go back and look at the book. I forgot how great it actually was - and groundbreaking creatively and in the great use the characters received. Funny how 10-some years can actually change which Titans are considered "obscure." You think it'd be the older ones, not the somewhat recent ones.

Next question/challenge. Name 12 Titans who have had solo series.

A hint: you could technically name 12 Titans while only naming 11 titles.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

My guesses:

Robin (Tim Drake)
Nightwing
Cyborg
Starfire
Raven
Beast Boy
Hawk
Dove
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Supergirl
Atom
Superboy
Impulse

Posted by Future on :

Quis, you got 9 out of 12 correct!

Beast Boy had a mini-series, but I should clarify and say I'm just looking for ongoing titles. Surprisingly, Cyborg has only ever had a one shot while Raven and Starfire have never had series. Although research showed me that DC did have a short-lived series called "Starfire" in the 70s which had nothing to do with the character but looks interesting enough.

Hint #2: One of the Titans Quis didn't guess has more appearances under their belt than any other Titan of any era, save for Dick Grayson.

Posted by Blacula on :

I think Quis got most of them (though I don't remember Starfire ever getting her own series) but for good measure I'll throw in Arsenal, Wonder Girl (Cassie), Blue Beetle and Static.

Posted by Future on :

Blacula got two more of the potential answers I was thinking of: Blue Beetle and Static.

Arsenal and Wonder Girl did have mini-series!

Hint #3: Another potential answer had a short-lived series before they were a Titan, going on to serve in two completely different incarnations of the team.

Posted by Blacula on :

Future - Raven and Cyborg both had minis a few years ago. If you're having trouble finding them at the grand comics database I think they were officially called DC Spotlight [Cyborg] or something.

But now I realize that you're not after minis they (along with my additions of Arsenal and Wonder Girl - and Tempest whom I've just remembered) won't matter anyway.

Posted by Blacula on :

Just remembered Son of Vulcan as another mini-haver before he joined the ill-fated Titans East, and Anima had her own short-lived series before she joined that same team.

Posted by Future on :

I thought I remembered Raven having a mini, but couldn't find it right away to clarify. Thanks, Blacula! Now that you mention Cyborg as well, that rings a bell.

Anima is indeed someone else I would count, as her series was ongoing.

That brings our total to 12, so I'll reveal who my hints were also referring to: #2 was for Wally West's run as The Flash while #3 referred to Damage.

I'll give this one to Quislet since he got the most correct and if we included mini series, he did get 12!

Posted by Blacula on :

I can't believe I forgot Wally West's many, many solo issues! <slaps forehead>

Who found Starfire when she first came to Earth?

Posted by Blacula on :

The Gordanians?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

The Gordanians were who she escaped from and they were looking for her, but they were not the first person(s) who found hr on Earth.

Posted by Blacula on :

Oh haha. The print on my iPad is so mini I misread your question as asking us who "fought" her.

I know who the boyfriend of the answer to your question is but I can't remember her name.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

IIRC, although we first see the boyfriend and girlfriend together with Starfire, the conversation indicates that he found her by himself.

Posted by Blacula on :

It's been soooo long since I've read those issues I couldn't quite remember the details.

I'll guess Grant Wilson then.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

It was indeed Grant Wilson.

Posted by Blacula on :

Who is/was Haze?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Jarrod Jupiter, the son of Titans benefactor Loren Jupiter?

Posted by Blacula on :

And half-brother of Lilith, yes!

Your Q, IB.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I can recall exactly one Titan who had no speaking line in the Titans/Legion crossover, which was somewhat impressive considering that every Titan (and some allies) up to that point had appeared.

Who was that Titan?

Posted by Blacula on :

If I'm understanding the question correctly, this is a Titan who appeared in the book but didn't speak (rather than a Titan who didn't appear and didn't speak).

I don't remember Mal Duncan speaking (or appearing) in that book so I'll say him.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

That's right, Blacula. So this Titan basically had a cameo appearance.

Mal appeared as the Herald, and he did speak at least twice that I can remember, though.

Posted by Future on :

I'm guessing this is one of the "killed" Titans who was later revived by timestream hijinks. Unless we're actually talking the Titans/JLA mini.

Jesse Quick?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Oh my gosh!

I posted Titans/Legion, when I meant Titans/JLA.

Note to self: proofread all posts made after a 12-hour workday.

So no, it wasn't Jesse Quick either - she wasn't a Titan yet at that point.

Sorry, guys [Frown] Reposting the Q:

I can recall exactly one Titan who had no speaking line in the Titans/JLA crossover, which was somewhat impressive considering that every Titan (and some allies) up to that point had appeared.

Who was that Titan?

Posted by Xben on :

Joto

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Correct, Xben! You're up.

Posted by Xben on :

I have to confess here, Invisible Brainiac, that my Titans knowledge is so slim that I don't even know who Joto is. I got the answer only because you commented on this very piece of trivia on this thread about two pages ago.

But for my question, in the famous XMen / Titans crossover from 1984, who are the seven and a half characters who appear on the front cover? (Hint: 3 of them are Titans)

Posted by Blacula on :

Joto was a member of the Jurgens Teen Titans, Xben. You may know him better as his current name Hotspot.

I haven't read that crossover but I'll guess -

Storm
Wolverine
Colossus
Jean Grey
Robin
Changeling
Raven
and
Galactus?

Posted by Xben on :

Nope - not familiar with Hotspot either. I know Jurgens had a run on Titans with the (annoyingly) de-aged Ray Palmer. Was it any good?

You have 3 characters correct, including one Titan.

Posted by Blacula on :

Hotspot was also in the Teen Titans Go! cartoon and comic, 52 and made some appearances in Geoff Johns' One Year Later Titans era.

The Jurgens era was hit and miss. It had great art and some great guest appearances (including Postboot Inferno as I recall) and I liked some of the stories... but I didn't really like the main two spotlighted Titans at the time, Risk and Argent, (though I like them well enough now) and, tellingly, the team never really felt like a proper Titans team to me.

They're an interesting blip in Titans history but one that will probably be forgotten in the DCnU.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

My Titans knowledge is pretty limited as well. I like many of the characters individually, but they never grabbed me as much as the Legion or Justice League did. There are several runs that I've never read as well, including Jurgens.

I did read Wolfman-Perez, but annoyingly, a lot of those issues are a jumbled blur in my memory.

Posted by Xben on :

Just realized that I had put 1984 in my question. Not that it makes any difference, but it actually came out in 1982. I'd just put '84 in as a placeholder until I had a chance to check, but forgot to until now.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I'll guess:

Jean Grey
Cyclops
Professor X
Wolverine
Storm
Changeling
Starfire
Cyborg

Posted by Xben on :

5 correct, including one Titan.

Just curious, IB - did you know that you had just mentioned your trivia question on this thread a couple of pages back?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Xben, yes I did. My Titans knowledge isn't particular deep, so I just went with that. I was also pretty tired then and didn't want to stall the thread any longer than I had to.

Reguessing:

Jean Grey
Cyclops
Professor X
Wolverine
Kitty Pryde
Changeling
Jericho
Wonder Girl

Posted by Xben on :

Now 4 correct, including one Titan

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Cyclops
Robin
Wonder Girl
Storm
Jean Grey
Starfire
Professor X
Nightcrawler

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Hmmm...

Changeling could be the correct Titan, since he was in Blacula's guess too. But I'm stumped as to who the other 2 Titans are.

Let's try:

Jean Grey
Cyclops
Wolverine
Storm
Changeling
Wally West
Lilith
Darkseid

I feel like the half-character was a villain but I don't know enough X-Men villains.

Wolverine
Jean Grey
Cyclops
Nightcrawler
Storm
Robin
Starfire
Wonder Girl

Posted by Xben on :

Quislet has it correct! The half character was Professor X, and technically, it was actually Dark Phoenix as opposed to Jean Grey, but I thought that was close enough.

Interesting for me to note that Wolverine wasn't put front and center on the cover - I guess it was before the days of his uber-popularity? Of course it was a wrap-around, so the rest of the characters (including the other half of Professor X) were on the back.

Oh, I know who Trident is. He/they are one of my favourite Titans villains. The black one is the only one who ever fought the team again if I recall correctly.

The villain also appeared in the Teen Titans Go TV series and as the major antagonist in the Teen Titans strip in Wednesday Comics but, weirdly, it was a radical re-imagining of the character on both occasions.

Old school is the best school IMO.

I still don't remember what their real names were though. haha

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Old school Titans rock - I also love Flamebird, Bumblebee, Herald, the criminally neglected Tempest, and poor, poor Tula. Plus the somewhat never Kole.

Er, is the answer "Sammy" and Val? I'm really just guessing here [Razz] I think Blacula should get the next Q no matter what, though.

Posted by Power Boy on :

Ok, the question goes to Blacula because he loves Trident so much.

IB has it with "Sammy and Val". Val was possessed by Starro when he was the Trident.

I really like the Trident too for some reason, His death shown above was pretty gruesome for those days. Now it's nothing ...

I want a Trident, that would be useful.

Next Blacula!!

Posted by Blacula on :

Sticking with the Wolfman/Perez era -

When the H.I.V.E ruling council were finally defeated by the Titans and all commmitted suicide/were murdered by their leader, only one member's identity of that council was ever revealed - and it was the villain of a Justice Leaguer.

Major bonus points if you can name the villain but, since they only ever had one appearance before their death here, they are ultra-obscure - so just naming their Justice Leaguer enemy will suffice.

And someone finally gets it!

I was hoping this character would go all the way to being the last character guessed but Kent just pipped the post with his correct guess of...

Wonder Woman!

Which, along with Batman and Aquaman, was one of the obvious answers all along when you think that Wonder Girl, Nightwing and Aqualad were the only characters there who could have identified a JLA member's obscure villain.

The villain in question was...

Professor Torgo!

Who had made one appearance before his dead body appeared in this issue and that was all the way back in Wonder Woman #46 in 1951!

Here's the cover -

http://www.comics.org/issue/8761/cover/4/

Talk about an obscure character to mine for a one panel cameo. I love when writers did that kind of thing!

R.I.P. DC continuity.

Your question Kent.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

okay, then... what was the first contemporary real-world event to be depicted/referred to on the cover of a Titans comic?

Posted by Blacula on :

Hmmm... I think the Titans were meant to be at the Olympics on the cover of issue #... 4(?). The one that first guest-starred Speedy.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

you got it!

Posted by Blacula on :

In a fairly obvious Romeo and Juliet homage once, which Titan played the role of Juliet?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Lilith?

Posted by Blacula on :

Yes it was!

Here were the issues in question -

http://www.comics.org/issue/24555/cover/4/

http://www.comics.org/issue/24697/cover/4/

Over to you Quis.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

an easy one because I can't think of anything else

What color are Aqualad's eyes?

Posted by Blacula on :

Violet.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Right, although I heard it as purple

Posted by Blacula on :

Which Titan villain was Roy much later shown caring for/checking in on to see how they were doing?

Posted by Blacula on :

No guesses?

CLUE #1 - This interaction was revealed during the Meltzer/MacDuffie era of Justice League of America.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Cheshire?

Posted by Blacula on :

Hmmm. That's not who I had in mind but now that I think about it there might have been scenes between those two which fit the above description.

I can't think of any specifically though so I'll disallow it and refine the question more.

---

Which early Titan villain, after seemingly reforming, did Roy keep tabs on / deliver food to during the Meltzer/Macduffie era of Justice League of America?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Roulette?

Posted by Blacula on :

Has Roulette ever fought the Titans? Either way, not who I'm thinking of.

CLUE #2 - This character is a male.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

The Mad Mod?

Posted by Blacula on :

Not Mad Mod but that's the closest guess so far.

CLUE #3 - This character had more than one villainous identity during their career.

Posted by Blacula on :

CLUE #4 - When I said that this was an "early" Titan villain, you actually couldn't get any earlier than this villain.

Posted by Blacula on :

Hmm. People don't know who the first villain the Titans ever faced was?

OK. So I mentioned earlier that this villain has had two identities...

The first is two words and they both rhyme with each other.

The second is a building adornment that Batman is fond of standing on.

Either will do.

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Mister Twister?

Posted by Blacula on :

^ That's the one. He was the villain in the unofficial first appearance of the Titans when Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad went up against him in Brave and Bold #54. He later became the Gargoyle and tangled with the Titans a few times in that identity.

He wasn't seen for many years until he popped up retired and destitute and being delivered food by Roy in JLA (before being kidnapped by the Suicide Squad and sent to that prison planet for that execrable Salvation Run series). It was a nice bit of character work for Roy though I thought.

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

I didn't know (or remember) that Mr. Twister was the Gargoyle!

I also didn't know about the other stories, but I do remember Mr. T's carnage in Hatfield Corners (I think), USA! Good question, Blacula.

I'll be back in a day or two with a new question.

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

OK, if Mr. Twister was the Titans' first villain, who was their second?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Do you mean the giant Seperate Man?

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

No, though that's a good guess.

I'm thinking of a retconned story.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

The JLA?

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

You have the right story, Kent, but I'm looking for the "villain" behind the JLA's actions.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Antithesis

since they technically fought the JLA before they knew of Antithesis, as I recall, I figured the JLA could be counted as #2 and Antithesis as #3.

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Well, I did say "villain" (singular), so technically you could say it was Batman (or any of the individual JLAers since their crimes seem to have been committed at the same time).

Of course, it was just Robin who fought Batman, Aqualad who fought Aquaman, etc., so technically the Titans didn't exist yet; nor did they exist until the end of this story, so that means neither Mr. Twister nor the Antithesis count. [Smile]

Anyway, it was Antithesis I was looking for, so you won.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Okay. What movie was being screned on a drive-in movie screen once during the original Perez run?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

I remember this! But I don't remember the answer, exactly. Was it "Cannonball Run?"

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Nope!

Posted by KryptonKid on :

"Star Wars?"

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Closer in genre... But nope.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

A hint in which only the blanks will point you in the right direction: Carmine Infantino ____ _____ ____than Irv Novick did.

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Random guess for the blanks: "drew more Flash".

So, the answer: Flash Gordon?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Not Flash Gordon. Good guess on clues, but one word off. Which Flash?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

"Jumping Jack Flash"?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

You're getting colder.

HWW's response to the clues had two correct words for the clue. Think 'which flash?' in terms of comics, not movie titles - there is no 'flash' nor anything close in the movie title. The blanks clue does not relate to the movie title at all, but will point you in the right direction.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Further info: the movie in question was released after Flash Gordon but before Jumping Jack Flash.

I went wirh the blamks clue because any other clue I've thought of as of yet would be too easy.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Woody Allen's Annie Hall?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Nope.

New hint: the title is more than three words long. If abbreviated to an acronym, you need only two letters, both repeated at least once.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"?

I don't see the "Flash" connection, though.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Not Chitty. Again, there is no Flash connection in the title. Either look at HWW's guess or ignore the blanks clue, as everyone but HWW seems to leap the wrong way using that hint.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Or if you do use the blanks clue, look not for a movie title, but rather a different sort of name.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Yeah, sorry, Kent. I wasn't trying to put a Flash connection in the title. Instead, I scanned info on the film's cast, crew, and production staff looking for "Allen", or "Barry", or "West", or "Gerrick", etc. I couldn't think of a movie that fit both clues. I overreached in a subject that I knew was not my forte, and apologize for it.

Posted by Dev - Em on :

"Drew Barry More"

ET

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Once again, Dev to the rescue!

Also, ETTET, ET The Extra-Terrestrial; the other clue.

Posted by Dev - Em on :

Leonid Kovar had a fiancee, what was her name.

Posted by Dev - Em on :

btw Kent...that was an awesome clue. I laughed out loud when I read it.

I didn't go through the pages to see if it had been used...but you are indeed correct.

It's hard to keep track in these games sometimes. I'm sure this question has probably been asked before too...

Which Green Lantern villain played an important role in the origin of a Titan character?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Starfire?

Posted by Blacula on :

Hi Quis. It's actually the Green Lantern villain I'm looking for.

(But working out who the Titan character is too will be a major clue. Hint: it's not Starfire.)

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Doctor Polaris?

Posted by Blacula on :

Doctor Polaris it is. Who, of course, played a role (much too complicated to summarize here) in the origin of Magenta aka Frances Kane.

Over to you.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Another villain also played a role in the origin of another Teen Titan. Who is the villain?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Trigon.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Not the villain I am thinking of. I suppose being the father means playing a role in the origin. And you could argue that Trigon gave Raven her powers. But I am looking for a villain that had a more active role in the origin of this Teen Titan.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Komand'r aka Blackfire?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Nope, not Blackfire.

Posted by Blacula on :

Thia (with Kole)?

Posted by Blacula on :

Actually, I think I'm wrong on that. Just remembered that she got her powers from her parents; Thia came along later.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Luthor (Kon-el)?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

No Thia nor Luthor

Hint time: Both the villain and the Teen Titan existed before Crisis on Infinite Earths

Posted by Xben on :

Tony Zucco and Robin.

Just kidding. I'm assuming that's not who you had in mind.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

You are correct ..... that Tony Zucco & Robin is not who I was thinking of.

Hint 2: The Teen Titan in question was not one who regularly appeared.

Note: I am still looking for the villain's name, not the Teen Titan

Posted by Blacula on :

This might be kind of obvious but... either Deathstroke or Ravager (the second one) with Jericho?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Seeing as Jericho was a regularly appearing Titan, the answer in no.

recap of the hints. Both Teen Titan & villain predate Crisis and the Teen Titan did not appear regularly.

3rd hint: The villain is not normally associated with the Teen Titans.

4th hint: The Teen Titan's origin has been retconned taking this villain out of it.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Vandal Savage?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

No, not Vandal Savage.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Matter Master?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

That's the villain. He gave (unintentionally) Golden Eagle his powers

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Okay, then...

What real-life landmark was shown in the Titans comic as being surrounded by scaffolding, at around the same time it was in the real world, too?

Posted by Blacula on :

I can't believe I forgot Golden Eagle when I was listing all the pre-Crisis Titans in my head. I have that Matter Master issue of Justice League of America too.

Totally random guess for Kent's question - the Statue of Liberty?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Yes!
Statue of Liberty it was!

Posted by Blacula on :

Fairly easy question this time -

Which team of villains once infiltrated the construction crew rebuilding the Titans Tower?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Hive?

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Fearsome Five?

Posted by Blacula on :

Quis has it. The H.I.V.E. infiltrated the Tower's reconstruction crew at the beginning of Devin Grayson's run.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

In the "A day in the lives" story (New Teen Titans #8), what was Raven doing when she discovered the bombers?

I have a vague memory of her visiting a school.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Close enough. She was touring Manhattan College in her astral form to see if she should attend classes there.

Posted by Blacula on :

Bump.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Who built the first Titan's Tower, where, and why?

[Robin - Tim Drake]

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Vic's father (Silas?) as a way to try to get back into his estranged son's life before he died.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Yep, and it was built on a small island in the East River, NY.

Sir Kent, proceed.

[Wonder Girl - Cassie Sandsmark]

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

yep! Every time I used to take the 59th Street Bridge, I'd see this little stony islet with a navigational marker on it and think, "That's where the Titan's Tower would be."

okay, hopefully an easy one:

Posted by Blacula on :

Clue - it was another Titan.

Posted by Future on :

Nightwing?

Posted by Blacula on :

Nightwing did don the Wildebeest costume to infiltrate the organization during the Titans Hunt, but he was not the person in the costume in this issue/story.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Changeling?

Posted by Blacula on :

Not Changeling. (But closer.)

Posted by KryptonKid on :

I don't think this is closer, but...

Pantha?

Posted by Blacula on :

Not Pantha either. This issue occurred prior to the Titans Hunt which introduced her.

Posted by KryptonKid on :

Cyborg?

Posted by Blacula on :

Yes it was!

And here are the covers to the next two issues -

I really loved that period (from 'Who is Wonder Girl?' up until the end of the 'Titans Hunt') in Titans history.

nope!

Hint: this story stars the classic seven 'new' Titans, and only features three other people (one being the villain).

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Igor Igorigorigorivitch (or something like that)?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Yes!
The Titans, Igor the mad scientist, and Marv Wolfman and George Perez themselves comprised the main cast of this back-up story!

http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/914145.html

(okay, I forgot about the lab assistant, and the cameos by other DC peeps. so sue me)

Go, HWey!

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Ah, praise the glories of a misspent youth that I actually remember that story!

Be back in a day or so with a new question.

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

OK, I found a question much quicker than I thought.

Which Titan liked to listen to The Doors?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Lilith?

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Man, that was quick!

Yep . . . in Teen Titans # 38, Lilith is listening to "When the Music's Over" ("We want the world and we want it now"), much to the consternation of Dick, Donna, and Mal, and especially Mr. Jupiter.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

It was a guess.

Which Titan would routinely use the full name name of the other Titans? i.e. using Timothy instead of Tim.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Raven?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Yup. Dick was Richard, Gar was Garfield, and Wally was Wallace

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

okay, then.

How did Starfire learn Russian?

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

By kissing the Russian Starfire?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

From his parents, I assume.

Oh you mean the other Starfire.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

HWey: no, but you re on the right track.

Quis: ha!

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Um, by kissing some other Russian? [Smile]

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

yes, but which one?

Posted by He Who Wanders on :

Details, details. [Wink]

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Hint: It was during the original Perez era, but he did not draw this story.

Posted by Blacula on :

Mikhail Gorbachev?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

nope! Not a real person, but someone well-known to comics fans.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

another hint: Like Blacula's guess, the character in question was not one to whom DC holds copyright.

Posted by Blacula on :

So a fictional Russian character but not one that DC holds the copyright to? Hmmm - weird. Why don't I remember this?

Having trouble thinking of any so...

oh wait - was it Colossus?

(I've never read that crossover which would explain why I don't remember it, if so.)

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Colossus it is! In the titans/xmen x-over.

Posted by Blacula on :

Here's an easy one -

Which Titan shares a name with a famous jazz musician?

Posted by Blacula on :

Gosh. I thought this question would be easy.

Clue - this musician played the saxophone and is more commonly known by his nickname.

Posted by Blacula on :

Clue the second - this Titan is pre-Wolfman/Perez.

Posted by Shining Son on :

Well Doc West plays drums not sax, so reversing my lines of research and now looking for a more famous musician and a less famous Titan...

Golden Eagle!

Posted by Shining Son on :

a.k.a. Charley Parker.

I guess both of them were better known as birds.

Posted by Blacula on :

Charley 'Bird' Parker and Charley 'Golden Eagle' Parker it is!

Your Q, SS.

Posted by Shining Son on :

Which Teen Titans adversary shares a surname with most of the classic Fantastic Four?

Posted by Blacula on :

Well it seems obvious that this can only mean Storm or Richards depending on how 'classic' we're getting, but I'm stumped as to who fits that bill.

I'll guess... Disruptor?

Posted by Shining Son on :

I don't recall Disruptor, what was his name?

Posted by Shining Son on :

And as far as "classic" I mean the original lineup, but I now realize that neither name ever applied to "most" of the classic four. But yes, it is one of those two surnames.

Posted by Blacula on :

Disruptor was the red/gold clad villain in the 'Dear Mom and Dad' issue of the Wolfman/Perez NTT series.

Not sure of his name. Was hoping it was Storm or Richards? [Big Grin]

(P.S. Just googled his name and it was Beldon.)

Posted by Shining Son on :

I tried googling Marvel Disruptor but didn't get any name. But now I see the flaw in that. We're not talking about a "Disruptor" at Marvel Comics. I confused myself with all the talk about Fantastic Four. But hey, it's after midnight here!

Anyhoo, not Disruptor.

Posted by Blacula on :

No idea so time to start guessing randomly -

Ding Dong Daddy?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Mad Mod? (since I also have no idea)

Posted by Shining Son on :

Forgot it was my question or I would have been adding clues in the silence, but IB got it.

Mad Mod's name is Neil Richards.

Posted by Blacula on :

Bump.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Wow, lucky guess. Thanks for the bump, Blacula, and sorry guys. Had no idea.

Okay, hmmm....

During the Breakdowns storyline of the original JLA/JLE (Giffen era), one member resigned off-panel (if I remember right). Which one was it?

Posted by Blacula on :

Ummm... did you forget which thread you're in IB? [Wink]

(As for your question, I'll guess... Blue Jay?)

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

I was wondering that, too. Doesn't seem like a Titans question. And I don't know the Titans of the Breakdowns era well enough to venture a guess.

Posted by Blacula on :

(^ The only Titan I can think of that was involved in the Breakdowns JLA/JLE story was Wally West Flash - so anyone who guesses him has a chance of both being correct and making this question relevant. [Big Grin] )

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Whoops. I got confused and thought this was the Non-Legion thread [Razz]

Ok, change question...

In the Superman storyline Panic in the Sky, a grand total of two Titans were involved. Who were they?

Posted by Blacula on :

Panic in the Sky! Now there's a story I haven't thought of in a long time!

RIP Draaga.

As for a guess, I'll say...

Flash and Nightwing?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Correct, Blacula!

It was quite an enjoyable read.

Posted by Blacula on :

I remember enjoying it too. I enjoyed that whole era of Superman actually. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for it at the moment. I think im gonna give it a re-read one of these days.

Question - Which Titan was present when Celsius of the Doom Patrol died?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

It was a nice era with a rich and well-developed supporting cast. Made Metropolis almost as, if not even more, rich as Gotham.

Re your question... Cyborg?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

might as well go for the obvious: Changeling/Beast boy?

Posted by Blacula on :

I'm afraid neither of those guesses are correct.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Donna Troy?

Posted by Blacula on :

Not Donna Troy either, sorry.

Posted by Blacula on :

Clue:

Knowing where Celsius died will make it completely obvious which Titan was present.

Posted by Blacula on :

Another clue: Celsius' death occurred during Invasion!.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Aqualad?

Posted by Blacula on :

^ Winner!

Celsius died underwater in the Arctic circle during the Invasion!. Aqualad, Aquaman and a few others were present.

Your Q, Kent.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Who was the first JLA member to cameo in a Wolfman/Perez Titans story?

I do not mean people who later joined the JLA; someone who was a member at the time.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Batman?

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

c'est il! As Bruce Wayne, but yes, in NTT #1.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Oops, sorry, I'd forgotten I'd made a guess. Thanks to Blacula for reminding me.

In JLA/Titans, all the surviving Titans at that point were captured by Cyborg's drones. All except one who wasn't supposed to be dead at that time.

Who was this Titan?

Posted by Blacula on :

I feel like I might have known this at one point in time but if I did, I've forgotten it now.

Guessing - Phantasm?

P.S. JLA/Titans was a really good mini. Thanks for reminding me of it IB. I really need to re-read it soon. I would also argue that what made it so good was the sense of history that all the characters in it shared, and the high emotional stakes that that history instilled in the readers.

Shame that it's all gone now with the DCnU. [Frown]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

No, Phantasm was quite dead at that time. At least, Danny Chase was, while I believe the "souls of Azarath" version had been dispersed or had gone back to Azarath.

Yes, I agree with you on both points, Blacula! In addition, JLA/Titans is one of the few minis where the writers managed to give every character something to do, and all of them were treated with the respect they deserved.

Kole maybe? (Whose fate was left undetermined at the end of the Team Titans series. Though I lean toward the idea that the 'Kole' we saw in that series was just Monarch playing tricks on the team.)

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Bumblebee was present, and helped Raven, Steel, Herald, Omen and Changeling "download" Cyborg's soul.

Kole, although I greatly wish she were still alive, was listed as deceased at that time (although I believe a search by the Wildebeest Society showed her fate as "results inconclusive", but for all purposes I'm counting her as dead).

Posted by Blacula on :

I can't remember Hawk's status at the time of this mini - Monarch? Extant? Dead? - but maybe he's the one you've got in mind?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

No, not Hawk either. Though you're right, I checked the issue and the files have him lasted as "alive", as Extant.

Since your answer meets the requirements of my Q, over to you, Blacula!

The Titan I had in mind was Minion, who was by all accounts alive somewhere in space - though his one-panel appearance shows him unconscious :/

Posted by Blacula on :

I was thinking of Minion for this question but kept deciding against him for some reason.

Hmmm - question time?

OK - Who were the 5 members of Donna's bridal party (not including the flower girl)?

Whoever names the 5th one wins.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I'd guess Starfire, Raven, Lilith, Sharon Tracy and Wonder Woman.

By the way, anyone interested in a Titans Idol game? [Razz]

Posted by Blacula on :

You have 4 of 5 correct IB - Raven was not a member.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I guess Terry Long's daughter at that point was the flower girl.

Hmmm... Donna's "sister" in the Hinckley family?

Posted by Blacula on :

^ That's the one IB! And I'm glad you just called her "Donna's 'sister' in the Hinckley family" because I can't remember what her name was either! haha

Over to you.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Ms. Hinckley! I don't even know if I spelled their surname right, Blacula!

Hm... Who sent Kole to her death?

Posted by Blacula on :

Earth-II Robin?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Nope! He didn't do the sending [Razz]

Posted by Blacula on :

Hmmm... Earth-II Huntress?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Nope.

You have the right story, though.

Posted by Blacula on :

Well it doesn't take a 12th level intellect to work out that Kole would have been ordered to her death by... one of the characters in the story she died in. [Wink]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Oh, you never know, I could be referring to the character who ordered her to leave Olympus... [Razz]

Posted by Blacula on :

That would have been very sneaky of you if you had! [Wink]

Posted by Blacula on :

Another try - Batman?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

No, not Batman either.

Think female [Smile]

Posted by Blacula on :

Mary Marvel?

I remember her being there but don't remember her giving any orders.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Yes, it was Mary Marvel! She was the one who told Kole to separate Robin and Huntress from the shadow demons (as if Kole hadn't already gotten that idea). Alas, poor Kole... Come on, Mary Marvel! I'm sure you were fast enough to have rescued Robin and Huntress before the demons got to them!

Over to you, Blacula!

Posted by Blacula on :

[Big Grin] Well, Mary Marvel ended up suffering a fate worse than death by becoming one of the main characters in *shudder* Countdown... so I think Kole got the better end of the stick in that deal. Haha

...

I had another question ready to go related to Kole's death in Crisis but I think it's probably more of a Non-Legion Comics question than a Titans Comics question so I'll save it for that thread.

For this thread, an easy one -

A big deal was made about there being a traitor on the team during Johns' One Year Later era....

Who was that traitor?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Bombshell?

Posted by Blacula on :

Yes it was.

You're up IB.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

When Titans LA "formed", a handful of other heroes also showed up but never "joined". Name three of them.

Hawk and Dove are right, but Bushido was shown with the intent of joining. Many fan sites consider him to have become a member.

Doll Man (who seemed more like Doll Boy to me) and Doll Girl are correct, but Hero Cruz also joined up and is considered by many fan sites to have been a member.

Hell yeah! The working people's Titans!

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Well then...

Hawk
Dove
Doll Man
And as an added bonus Doll Girl.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

[LOL] Over to you, Quis.

The others I do remember are the Ray and Jakeem Thunder.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

This will probably be an easy one.

Why did Gar say he chose the name "Changling"?

Posted by Power Boy on :

because he was an orphan?

Posted by Blacula on :

It had been market-tested in front of a focus group by Steve Dayton?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Blacula has it.

I like Changling better than Beast Boy. But Beast Boy is not a bad code name.

Posted by Blacula on :

^ When Gar was called Changeling, I kept thinking to myself "Beast Boy is such a cool, retro, better name." But as soon as he changed it back to that I thought "No, Changeling suits him better now."

(I loved the Beast Boy mini though.)

Probably an easy question here -

Which were the only 3 Team Titans to survive the Zero Hour purge?

Posted by Power Boy on :

Wally West
Nightwing

uh ... Donna Troy?

Posted by Blacula on :

umm... Did you misread the question, PB?

I'm looking for TEAM Titans that didn't get erased in Zero Hour.

Clue: Wonder Boy was not one of them. [Wink]

Posted by Power Boy on :

uh OH ... who are Team Titans again?

[LOL] [LOL]

Posted by Power Boy on :

*ahem* ok then ...

Terra
Prestor John

and

Mirage ?

Posted by Power Boy on :

I blame Nam'Lor.

Posted by Blacula on :

I need to read Nam'Lor's Legion appearance so I can get those references!

Terra and Mirage are correct.

Prestor Jon was erased as far as I recall.

One to go!

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Deathwing was the last [Razz]

Blacula, the joke is that when Nam'lor appeared, he fell in love with one of Duo Damsel's bodies. However, his aura (which gives him his powers) turned her evil, causing Lu (and Chuck) to have to fight Lu.

Posted by Blacula on :

^ Yes he was.

And wasn't he a great character that was totally worth saving! haha Would so have rathered Redwing or Killowat being spared instead.

P.S. Ohhhh that's Nam'lor. I've actually got that issue but had totally forgotten that was him.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Yes, Redwing and Killowat were both much more interesting. Ah well, door's not closed for them coming back [Razz]

So since I know you usually give the next question to the one who got the last correct answer...

Another easy one -

Who got jealous of Flamebird's closeness to Beast Boy?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Terra?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Which one?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

The first and traitor

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Nope, as far as I know, that Terra never met Flamebird.

Posted by Blacula on :

I'll say Terra II then.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

And you're correct. This happened in the Titans issue where Titans LA was "formed". Over to you, Blacula.

Posted by Blacula on :

Everyone remembers the original Titans West.

And some may remember the very short-lived Titans L.A. that pop up in a lot of IB's questions ( [Wink] ).

But how many people know that there was supposed to be another Titans West in between them?

In the late 80s/early 90s Marv Wolfman and George Perez had plans to create a sister-title to the New Teen Titans that would have starred a new version of this team.

First person to tell me who the 5 pre-existing Titan characters that would have formed the core of this team are wins.

Posted by Future on :

I actually had no idea there was almost another West team, though I find it fascinating. Given the time frame and who was popping in and out of the book in that era, I'll guess...

Aqualad, Bumblebee, Herald, Red Star, and Speedy

Posted by Blacula on :

^ I know, right! I only just found out about this almost-team too and now I'm rueing what might have been.

Apparently, it was a toss-up between this book and Teen Titans Spotlight and editorial chose TTS instead which is super-annoying because a) how good would another Wolfman/Perez Titans book have been?; and b) TTS was really boring.

As for your guesses, you only have one correct.

1.
2. Red Star
3.
4.
5.

Though I imagine Herald and Bumblebee would have had to make a guest-appearance or two since Wolfman had just established them as living on the West Coast around this time too.

Posted by Jerry on :

1. Lilith
2. Red Star
3. Golden Eagle
4. Hawk
5. Dove

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I remember reading the article on this. Hmmm...

Thunder and Lightning
Bat-girl/Flamebird
Cyborg?

Posted by Blacula on :

Sorry, Jerry - none of your new guesses were correct.

But IB must have read the right article because we now have 4 of the 5!

1. Cyborg
2. Red Star
3.
4. Thunder
5. Lightning

Whoever gets the last one, wins!

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Chris King?

Posted by Blacula on :

And that was the last one!

It was probably pretty easy once you realise the team would have been formed by most of the characters who had guest-starred in the main book around that time.

Strange that there were no females on the team but maybe Marv and George were going to create some new ones just for it?

And what a shame we missed out on them if so! Raven, Starfire, Terra, Kole... those two guys proved they could create interesting and unique female Titans!

Back to you IB.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Hear, hear. When Marv said he regretted killing Kole off, I was hoping he'd bring her back permanently.

I was really going mostly from memory as well. I can clearly remember thinking that the proposed team was both powerful and versatile.

Which Titan had the most number of simultaneous girlfriends?

Posted by Blacula on :

There was a horrible gay-panic period where Jericho suddenly seemed to acquire about a dozen girlfriends so I'll say him.

Posted by Nam'Lor on :

so many studs in not so Teen Titans.

Garfield Logan, ladies like the Beast Boy!

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Roy?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Nightwing?

Posted by Power Boy on :

I was going to guess Nightwing.

Starfire?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

In War Games, there was a page where the Titans warn their loved ones about an impending attack.

Besides Jericho's mom, guess who else he warned?

At least 7 girlfriends were shown in-panel (and there was one more at the start of the story). All the girls had a picture of herself with Jericho.

*mutter grumble mutter grumble* I feel it weakened Jericho's character. As a sensitive person, he should have known better than to maintain so many girlfriends. Friends, yes, but these girls certainly seemed to have a romantic interest in him, and may have thought it was both mutual and exclusive.

In any case, back to you Blacula!

Posted by Blacula on :

What was War Games again, IB? The only story I know by that name was a terrible Batman crossover from the mid-00s.

I don't recognise the plot you mention either. But I do remember an issue from shortly after Jericho lost the mutton-chops and replaced them with a mullet that implied he had a bevy of women coming and going from his apartment. I think they were all hypnotised by his sensitive new-age music and paintings. Gah! That character made me want to vomit at times.

New question to come soon.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Rats. Sorry, Blacula, I meant "Teen Titans: Games". Somehow I remembered it as War Games.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

Must have been those Matt Broderick and Ally Sheedy appearances.. [Wink]

Posted by Blacula on :

Oohh I really need to buy Games. I've been waiting for it to come out in TPB. I wonder if that's happened yet?

Hmmm... question time...

OK - What do Roy (Arsenal) Harper and Thomas (Catman) Blake have in common (that no one else also has in common with them)?

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Both slept with Batman?

More seriously, thinking about it, did both sleep with Chesire?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

And make Cheshire pregnant? *gasp*

Posted by Blacula on :

Quis - you were half way there but it's highly doubtful that Roy and Thomas were the only men to do that with Jade.

However, IB got the last part in that they were (as far as we know) the only two men to have children by her.

Back to you IB!

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Name one super-villain that Kole successfully defeated. I'm not counting that monster she beat when the Titans fought the Thia.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

I was going to say made her preggers, but thought "Did Cheshire have 2 kids? I don't think so"

To guess on IB's question:

Dr Light?

Posted by Power Boy on :

I can see this but I can't spit it out ....

Trident?

Posted by Power Boy on :

The Tattooed Man?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Seems unlikely for Chesire to have two kids, but wasn't the second one conceived either after Lian died, or she was sure she wouldn't be able to see Lian anymore?

No to all of the above.

Oh, I suppose Dr. Light would count for animated Kole, but not the comics version [Smile]

Posted by Blacula on :

I assume the Cheshire/Catman-kid thing happened during the Secret Six series, since that's the only place that was giving Catman any story development. If so, I think that would mean it pre-dates the death of Lian.

Seems like a pretty dumb development either way. Why diffuse the probably one thing that Cheshire is most known for and has kept her a frequent antagonist/guest-star all these years (the fact that she had a child by a super-hero)?

Unless they wanted to go all the way and have her have children by a dozen different super-heroes? That would have been hilarious!

---

As for the question, I'm drawing a blank...

Her freaky scientist parents?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

No, not Kole's parents.

Hint - think of someone Kole fought in a series outside the Teen Titans comics.

Re Cheshire, if she did have kids with dozens of people, they could form their own super-team. And they should be named after their fathers, as a homage to Duela Dent.

Arsenal's Daughter
Catman's Son
Guy Gardner's Son
Wildcat's Twins
Hal Jordan's Son
Hal Jordan's Other Son
Hal Jordan's Other Other Son

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

Angle Man?

I am assuming the other series is Crisis

Posted by Blacula on :

I was thinking Crisis too but couldn't think of any villains she defeated there - unless IB is making a call-back to a previous question of his and the answer is Black Adam? [Razz]

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Correct, it IS Black Adam [Wink]

My memory for the Titans comics isn't as sharp as my memory for the Postboot Legion or portions of Justice League runs, so I usually ask questions about my fave characters. Kole is easy (for me) to ask questions about since her existence was so hort [Frown]

Back to Blacula!

Hmmm... Alas, I don't know THAT much about the Titans, so I always have a hard time coming up with good questions.

Atom and Green Lantern because they stuck with their JLA buddies?

Clue: This character is not the only super-villainous descendant of his grandfather.

Over to you EDE.

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Okay, it's well-known that Dave Cockrum originally wanted to use the name "Starfire" for Wildfire, but this was vetoed by DC, apparently because of the pre-existing Titans character. This, of course, did not stop Wolfman from later introducing a new Starfire in his New Teen Titans (and thus forcing the original Starfire to change his name).

There is a certain distinctive characteristic of the second Starfire that actually suggests that the name "Wildfire" would actually fit her better than the Legionnaire. So, name the characteristic, and why it suggests the "Wildfire" name would be appropriate.

Posted by Future on :

Hm. Would it be the trail following her hair as she flies, which usually looks like it's on fire?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

That's the trait I'm looking for, but the reason why is something a little more specific to the name.

Posted by Future on :

Because her hair is so ...wild? Haha. [Spider Girl]

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Nope.

So what we're after is... why would "Wildfire" have been a particularly appropriate name for a character with that effect?

Posted by Future on :

Hm. During her initial appearances, did her hair trail usually leave actual fire behind on the ground?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Not that I know of.

Posted by Kent Shakespeare on :

you mean the third Starfire, actually. There was another in between the original and Koriand'r, a space opera heroine, although as far as I know her only DCU appearance was in Robinson's Starman.

Her tendency, especially early on, to go overboard in combat, to get too immersed in the thrill of battle?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

She's apparently at least the fourth, as there was a one-shot Supergirl villain who used the name as well. Which makes it even more bizarre that Cockrum wasn't allowed to use the name.

Anyway, the trait is the long-hair with energy trail following her when she flies, but what we're looking for is a specific connection between that and the name "Wildfire".

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

Hint: If Drake Burroughs hadn't been named "Wildfire", this connection might be a bit more obvious.

Posted by Quislet, Esq on :

When I think about this question, this Wildfire keeps popping up in my mind

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Is it because of this Wildfire and her rather wild red hair?

Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :

That's basically it. The long-hair merging into energy trail was a distinctive feature of the original Wildfire. I'm pretty sure she originated it, being one of the first female comics characters.

Click for fullsize image

I just thought it was kind of a cool fact amongst the already complicated tangle of characters using the same names, with the original Wildfire not being used in All-Star Squadron because of the Legionnaire sharing her name, while in turn the Legionnaire was originally supposed to be called "Starfire" but was prevented by another character with that name, and meanwhile the most famous Starfire borrowed a very distinctive trait from the original Wildfire.

I'm going to hold it open for people guessing both together for at least 24 more hours.

Though as one of them may be far more difficult to remember, I'll accept the reason the first is no longer heard as an alternate.

[ November 27, 2012, 11:47 AM: Message edited by: Shining Son ]

Posted by Shining Son on :

No? Okay, yes, "Terminator" was one of them, and it's presumably because of the Schwartzenegger movie that they added Deathstroke and eventually all but dropped Terminator.

And though "Deathstroke" also has ten letters, it wasn't used till years later. Slade's first mission involved "promethium".

Ibby got part of it so over to him.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I was going to guess Deathstroke, but doesn't it have 11 letters?

Which Justice League member has, in another reality, first been a member of the Titans before joining the Justice League? In the Pre-Flashpoint canon, this member had always been a Leaguer first.

Posted by Blacula on :

If I'm understanding the question properly -

Atom (Ray Palmer) - who was a JLAer before he was a Titan in the pre-Flashpoint DCU and in the Tiny Titans universe seems to be a Titan first?

^ That was a guess. I have no idea if it's true. I'm just guessing based on seeing Atom in pictures from the book.

Posted by Shining Son on :

Oops, Deathstroke does have eleven letters. Glad it wasn't the answer then, it just wasn't the red herring I thought it was.

On your question, I just want to say Cyborg, but pre-Flashpoint is the "other reality" so unless you made a typo with"pre-", he doesn't fit.

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

I think you both understand the question correctly. Cyborg is the opposite of the answer, yes, since he was a Titan first Pre-Flashpoint, then became a Leaguer first post-Flashpoint.

Re Atom, if he was a Titan first in the Tiny Titans Universe and then joined the League after that, he would be an acceptable answer. But I have another character in mind.

Posted by Blacula on :

So, in the pre-Flashpoint universe, this character was a JLAer first and then a Titan? Other than the Atom, I'm having a lot of trouble coming up with a character who fits that bill.

Thinking cap on... ... ... ...

... Blue Beetle? (Ted in the JLA and then Jaime in the Titans?)

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

No, the character I'm thinking of is the same character, not two characters with the same code name.

I'll make my question clearer. Sorry for the confusion with the Cyborg clue above; Cyborg isn't a complete opposite. Also, sorry for the confusion in my original question - I shouldn't have added the word "first".

In the Pre-Flashpoint Universe, this character was a JLAer, but was never a Titan.

In the alternate reality I am thinking of, this character was a Titan first, then went on to join the Justice League.

Posted by Future on :

Hmm. Huntress?

Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :

Not the character I'm thinking of, though the one I have in mind is also female.
