although both have since been crossed off the list, I did give serious consideration to both. U of C has a scholar I wouldn't mind studying with, but the overall program wasn't a good fit. UCR (which I looked @ because of a conference a key department is hosting) was the opposite; great program, but no one in particular whose specialty aligned with mine.

UC Davis was at the top of my list for a while; now it's at the top of tier-two.
U-Indiana is supposed to have a great prog, so I did really thought it over for a while, even though there didn't seem to be a key faculty person to work with.
