No, I'm a bad son (and son-in-law) rarely calling my own parents or inlaws - though, trust me, they more than make up for it by calling me.
It was, in fact, a fellow IT consultant. He and I worked for the same company last year and got laid off at the same time. We both landed on our feet, however, and the other day we chatted about how, in retrospect, getting laid off was the best thing that happened to our respective careers.
