i made my very first pumpkin pies, two of them, now cooling on my kitchen counter. Didn't turn out too bad, but one of the crusts got a little crispy.

nope. One my train trip to San Diego, we went through a little bit of Iowa. And there was one stop in Iowa and I stepped off the train for a few minutes.
