It is not.

Here is something interesting from a book I just read called "Incredible Insects."

"Before they mate, male dance flies give the female a dead insect wrapped in silk. While the female is busy unwrapping her present, the male mates with her. This way he can avoid being eaten!"

Otherwise, female will kill the mate. Oh, the femme fatale. Men have to be ingenious. [Wink]

Is it a bird?

It is not a bird.

And yes, while the male dance fly is not carnivorous, the female is.

Nope, not a fish.

Speaking of fish, didja know an adult swordfish has neither scales nor teeth, but a young swordfish has both?

Is it a mammal?

Oh, similar to humans... we lose teeth and hair as we grow old. [Wink]

Is it an amphibian?

Here's something that might interest both geography and biology fans. The megadiverse countries are 17 nations identified by Conservation International as harboring the majority of Earth's species.

They are: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, India, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, South Africa, Madagascar, Papua New Guinea, Australia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
