You didn't answer my question about whether or not it is a mammal.
Is it native to North America?

Sorry lance, missed your Q. Yes, it is a mammal.
So we're looking for a mammal, bigger than a cat, walks on four legs, usually carnivorous but can be omnivorous.
It can be found in North America, but its origins are thought to be elsewhere.
It is not a type of bear.
