Also, all three musicals were based on the non-musical plays (at least, the famous three musicals that I am thinking of, don't know if there were others that the stars appeared in)

They were indeed all dubbed by the same person: Marni Nixon. She pretty much made a career out of singing for other people.
Oh, and yes: The King and I was based on Anna and the King of Siam; West Side Story was based on Romeo and Juliet and My Fair Lady was based on Pygmalion. All three were originally not musicals.

Maybe, although that's not a very strong distinction. It's not what I had in mind, although you've correctly guessed that it has to do with the movie version of each of these titles.
