Have you ever read the Onion's "Our Dumb World"? One of my favorite pages is the "Senegal/Gambia" entry, where they show a picture of a bucket of water surrounded by a dotted line, inside the line is "Gambia", outside it is "Senegal."

Yes, they did try creating the "Senegambia Confederation" in the 1980's. Unfortunately, Senegal wanted their relationship to move to the next level, and Gambia preferred to keep things casual, so the Senegalese broke it off.
At last report, Senegal was seeing John Mayer, and the Gambia, unable to find any other countries that would hook up with it, has been single but is trying to pitch a relationship reality show to MTV.
