Apologies if this is common knowledge. The interview includes:

quote:
Legion, I can't talk about as much yet, but the idea is to put them in a '70s disaster film, so we can see a side of them we normally don't get to see.
and

quote:
ST: There's a whole load of characters to choose from — past and present — in the Legion of Superheroes. What will define your arc? Are you interested in setting it in current, past, or future continuity?

GS: I may never get to do Legion again, so I confess, I just cherry-picked my favorites. The particular story I'm telling didn't fit for Wildfire, whom I love, but he's pretty much my only regret. Karate Kid, Violet, Ultra Boy, and Chameleon all play huge roles.

ST: What's your favorite Legion story, and why?

GS: I'm goofy over any of the Subs stories.

ST: What drew you to Legion? What do you find most interesting about the concept?

GS: It's a bright future filled with power rings, loyal friends, beautiful cities, and star travel. What's not to love?

ST: Who is your favorite and least favorite characters?

GS: Hm. I love Karate Kid with an unholy passion. No one I dislike, really, just lesser favorites.

ST: Mark Waid is taking over Legion. How closely will your story arcs intersect?

GS: Very closely, though it might not seem so at first.

On another note, should Glorith reappear postboot, she ought to be codenamed Sequential Tart.

Thanks, SD! Interesting, I wonder why Wildfire didn't "fit" in the story? I just hope "70s disaster film" doesn't mean lots of splash pages.

So is Mark Waid confirmed as new writer or what?

Gail's too smart to slip up like that. TPTB must be on verge of making the announcement. Let's get on with it then, huh. It's about as big a secret as Clark Kent's alter ego.

P.S. The story sounds good!

I hope 70s disaster film means 70s costume disasters - woo hoo!

Still nothing on Waid and he never answered my e-mail about joining us here like Barry Kitson did. If there is going to be an announcement I wish DC would make it soon.

Maybe it involves running out of air, or some other type of survival tension that wouldn't effect Wildfire (it's awesome to know that she's a big fan of ol' Drake, but it sucks that she couldn't fit him in the story -- at least the Lightle spotlight should tide me over)

What I'm excited about is that we'll get to see a bit more of Karate Kid. Finally!

I'm a huge fan of Gail's work! I went positively nuts from excitement when I found out she'll be tackling a Legion arc. Two Gail books a month (Birds of Prey and Legion)...even if only for a few months...will be enough to get me through the days. She's got a great writing style and her level of humor is just what a group of young adults need right now (and would have anyway) after surviving impossible odds like Darkseid and presumably the Credo.
