I've finally wised up and taken seriously the invitations of our Legionworld crew to join the boards formally, and I thought the week of SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION #16 would be an appropriate time to check in. Wish I had more time in the upcoming weeks to participate here--until we get past Tax Day April 15, I'm afraid I'm gonna be hip-deep in voucherable work--but I did want to take this moment to once more thank my partner Barry and all our fine collaborators for making this re-energizing of the Legion franchise one of DC's 2005 success stories!
I'll do my level best to check in here from time to time to add my voice to Barry's. As I say, right now's an awkward period for me, but as my schedule lightens a bit in the next couple of months, I hope to be more participatory. Regardless, hope you all enjoy issue #16!
Best, Mark Waid

Welcome to Legion World, Mark!
Feel free to drop by any time, but be warned: Legion World can be an addictive hangout. Once you've begun to post, it will be in your blood

Man, I sure am getting the munchies...
Mark, great to see you on here... you'll find that this is a great group, all of who love the Legion! (I've been a fan ever since Kingdom Come, myself... so this is just swell!)
Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :
Okay... so he's posted now, but still no indication of his opinion of Calamity King, Lester Spiffany, Infectious Lass, or Dr. Landro's hot nurse. Are we positive this guy's qualified to write the Legion?
Welcome, Mark.

Welcome Mark! You'll find a legion of fans here not only of the Legion of Super-Heroes, but a whole host of your other work over the years!
Looking forward to any participation you can squeeze in!
And since all I've heard for the last ten years is how great at obscure trivia you are, I fully expect you to get all the references in the Legion forum about one-off panel appearances by characters more than 30 years ago! (Bring back Sugyn! Nardo! Sinde! )

Not a hoax, not a dream, not an imaginary story! Welcome aboard, Mark!

I don't know if I can respect a man who caved in to peer pressure...
Yeah, I can!!!
Welcome to the party Mark! Longtime fan of all your work, particularly the Flash and Legion stuff!!

(Good thing we aren't "clique"y any more, or poor Mark would feel like such an outsider here!)
Wait a minute, maybe we are cliquey, but I'm on the outside too...

Welcome Mark! Glad to have you aboard!
The others may be looking forward to S&TLSH but I'm more looking forward to your contributions to the Trivia sections....

I'm picturing the Legion trivia thread turned into a 3-way battle between Jim, CM, and Mark! Now there's a moopsball match worth its weight in metal!

Welcome to Legion World Mark! Don't take the badgering too seriously and you'll survive the experience.
As to this week's issue, a quote from my favorite author (sorry, not you Mr. Waid ):
Click Here For A SpoilerAll that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.
I enjoyed #16, even if it did seem to end too quickly.

After being rendered speechless (Because, dude!! Mark Waid!!! Omgwtffangirlyayness~!!) I've finally managed to find my voice enough to risk humiliation and say welcome to the man who finally got me to read the Legion of Super-Heroes and Fantastic Four!! Seriously, whoa.
Anyway, yeah. Enough fangirlish squeeing from me. Hope to see you around soon, Mr. Waid.

Welcome to Legionworld Mark. Hope you took the time to look around first so you know just what a bunch of loons post here.
We dont bite (much) and there are fans of all eras here. So pull up a chair, pour a glass, and let us sing songs of the legion by the fire light.

Hey, I'm not a loon! I'm a Penguin!
Welcome Mark! We're glad to have you.

Thanks for joining up Mark!
We'll be happy for whatever time you can spare with us. Please bring plenty of teases!
If you haven't noticed from the front page, I'm among the many fans of this new Legion. It's been nice anticipating rather than dreading the new issues each month. Thanks!

At least I got to get my "fanboy gush" out at the convention in Dallas. It's great to see you sign on, Mark. Welcome aboard!
I can't say anything about the new issue yet, all three comic shops that I frequent in my (relatively) immediate area sold out before I could snag my copy. I had this really mixed emotions moment of being ticked off 'cause I didn't get one but was extremely excited that you've generated so much excitement for the book.
That's what The Legion should always do as far as I'm concerned!

Hi, Mark. Welcome to our super-hero club. What is your power?
Posted by CJ Taylor on :
Welcome Mr. Mark Waid. Feel free to chat about the new Legion title with some of the fans. Talk about other comics you like, we've got lots of different favourites around here. There are topics about politics, everyday life, and even a few games we play around here.
Oh, there's even a forum for posting fan fiction if you've got any ideas you want to share.

Ohmigaw, I just now saw this!
Welcome Mark Waid!
But enough pleasantries, let's cut to the chase!
Infectious Lass! Matter-Eater Lad! Bouncing Boy! A non-dead Dream Girl!
Thanks!
Your pal,
MLLASH

Said the guy that asked Mark, "Are there going to be people that eat things?" *chuckle*
I swear it's the ONLY time I've ever seen Lashie at a loss for words.

"They ALL eat". BAH!!!

Welcome Mark! What's that saying, 'Welcome to Legion World, hope you survive the Experience!' ?
Posted by legionadventureman on :
Hey, Mark...Whether or not you were responsible for starting off that wildly bizarre 5YL series, you will be forgiven if...
NO MORE LEGIONNAIRES DIE!
You do actually intend to place Dawnstar, Tyroc and/or Blok in the group
Despite the title, please don't use it to overexpose Supergirl...I'm a Legion dude from the late 60's and I hope nobody intends to mess with them - no matter where - or when - they came from!
Posted by Yellow Kid on :
Umm, LAM? Despite rumors to the effect, Mark Waid and Keith Giffen are NOT the same person...even though I can't think of a single instance where I've personally seen them both in the same room at the same time.
See? Glasses...no glasses. No resemblance at all. Really.
Posted by Beagz on :
HEY MR. WAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT TO SEE YOU HERE!!!!!
(So what happens to Bart Allen??????)
Posted by legionadventureman on :
I thought it must have been a writing group effort to begin with, YK...Mark Waid plotted/scripted issues 1-5, and then Giffen and the Bierbaums took full duties after Mordru revamped the Legionverse and introduced Laurel Gand as the new "Supergirl" look-alike.
If my facts are in error, so be it - I can dig it!

WHOA, Mark Waid sure does a great NYC accent when he's giving interviews in his alternate persona of Keith Giffen. ***Sorry I couldn't resist a free chance at an Alt-ID joke***
Welcome Mark, I've love your stuff.

lam, while Mark was the editor on those early issues of v4, Giffen and the Bierbaum's were already the primary plotters/scripters.

But then - Clark Kent (glasses) - Superman (no glasses and silly cows lick hair) - and there's a rumour going round that they might possibly be the same person ........

If Mark is here, and Barry is here, who's working on the latest issue? I mean come on, how are they ever going to come out with weekly issues if they are surfing the net?
