Hot pepper sauce (basically vinegar soaked in those itty hot green peppers). I *love* it. Never had it before very recently.

It's been about a year now, but scotch. For the longest time I was purely a whiskey & gin drinker (and had had scotch a few times before) but about a year ago I just started to really love a good scotch. Now I've been drinking several different ones that I like.

Running.

It's not like I've never run before, but in the past it's always been either competetive (track, cross-country) or compulsory (army). So after a decade of not doing it at all, to get back out there first thing in the morning before the sun comes up and just go at my own pace and distance has been so remarkably liberating.

I think (no promises here, so don't hold me to it) that it might actually be the life change which finally gets me to give up the smokes.

Using the oven! So many foods that can be microwaved taste MUCH better oven-cooked. Pizza rolls, for example...

Have you taken Sam fishing yet?

Posted by rickshaw1 on :

Oh yes. We did that with his new rod and reel several weeks ago. He's a big softie. "We gonna put him back, Da?" "Yes, son, we are." He's so fast on the uptake. I told him only once he had to wet his hand to touch the fish first, and after that, he did it every time.

Love that kid.

He is lucky to you (and his mom) and you guys are lucky to have him!!

You ain't just whistlin' Dixie, hoss. Weren't supposed to be able to have kids. I haven't regretted a single moment of him.

I can verify that both Rick and Mrs. Shaw are THE MOST AWESOME 'rents EVER!

(as long as they don't mind being referred to as "'rents" in about, say, 8 years by li'l Mr. Ricky-shaw!... or me LOL)

Naw, it's fine. he's starting to enter the "testing" stage, where he wants to test his boundaries. But when I drop the deep voice on him with his full name, that little runt comes a'runnin'.

*Runt being a relative term, he looks as if he's about eight now, and he's not six yet.

Sounds like he's going to be tall, like his daddy.

Strawberries > snack foods. I've always KNOWN they were better for me, but now that I'm cutting a lot of bad stuff out of my diet I'm surprised by simply how much better I feel after eating them versus how I feel with junk food.

Pilates. I expected it to strengthen my core, but it's making new muscles all over my body! (And my salad-based diet is making them show up.)

Handyman work.
I always kinda liked messing around with stuff like electrical and stuff, but my new fixer-upper house requires quite a bit of work a lot of which is the type of stuff I haven't really done before.
Nothing major wrong with the house, but tons of little projects.
I've been picking away at them on my days off and I am loving the work.

I'm not sure what style my kickboxing class is . . . it's called "Turbo". But I've been to two sessions. I had to quit the first one 5-10 minutes early. I stayed for the second until the end (and what kept me there: Psy's "Gangnam Style"!).

Though I can't keep up with everyone else yet, I feel great afterwards.

Work.
Not that I hated me job or anything, but I always felt a little out of place and not quite as good as the other operators.
However the lineups have changed recently and I am now the only field worker who has any experience running the sulphur plant in winter.
Its feeling pretty good to be the guy people are turning to for help.
