I've used 2 of them already.

I bought some of the forever kind last week, as otherwise I always seem to have the wrong postage.

So here's the story... There is a bill that I recently have that must be paid every month, so I was buying the money order at my grocery store and I noticed the store also sold stamps in a little machine... $1.25 got me TWO stamps. Two 44 cents stamps. Of course, I was outraged by this surely-illegal upcharge!!!!
So I went to the Post Office-- which i never ever do because I hate lines... but the line moved quickly and the lady was SO smiley and sweet! I asked her if it was legal for stores to upcharge stamps, and she said it was.
SO I bought $8.80 worth of stamps from her. She was really nice to me and walked me through the whole process. She pulled out a book of stamps, I gave her money and she gave me my change and thanked me.
It wasn't that hard!!!
I did hate parting with my $8.80 though... but the convienience of having stamps on hand cannot be denied...

Lash, They should also have vending machines at the post office where you can get stamps at the "cover" price, no mark up. Usually there is no line for the vending machine.
Of course going to the window, you get a choice of design on the stamps.

Cool thing about post office vending machines:
In my experience they are one of the most convenient places to trade paper money for groovy dollar coins!
Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :
The machines to get a subway ticket here in Boston also distribute dollar coins. It is always amusing to see a tourist buying a $2.00 ticket, putting in a $20, and getting 18 dollar coins back.

Lash buying stamps? It's akin to the first time Batman overcame the Scarecrow's fear gas!

J'adore buying stamps. I always ask the postal worker to show me the groovy, colorful ones.

Funny this is bumped... I'm down to my last 2 of those stamps I bought.
I will soon have to venture once more into the unknown that is... The Post Office!

There are always cute, stamp-buying guys at my local post office.

Bah! Just suck it up and go to the P.O., Lash.
Posted by Power Boy on :
You can buy them online and have them mailed to you ...
They charge for shipping and handling though ... which I find really funny since they are ... the shipping company

I still have my DC & Marvel character stamps. Remember those?
Posted by Power Boy on :
me too, I framed the DC ones and put them up, I haven't gotten around to framing the Marvel ones.
I used one sheet of the DC stamps for special missives ... but now I wish I hadn't even done that.

*choke*
$8.80 used to get you tramps in the 70's, but now it only gets you stamps! Tell 'em, Abin!

It's always been my policy not to pay for anything that you can get for free...

I'm excited because they will start sending out 2011 Holiday stamps soon! The kid in me just cannot get enough collector stamps!!!

I bought stamps this week. The USPS sure doesn't make interesting commemorative stamps like they used to. Bonsai trees, of all things, was the best of the choices.

I love this thread.

I'm almost out. Time to buy more stamps.
