So here's the story... There is a bill that I recently have that must be paid every month, so I was buying the money order at my grocery store and I noticed the store also sold stamps in a little machine... $1.25 got me TWO stamps. Two 44 cents stamps. Of course, I was outraged by this surely-illegal upcharge!!!!
So I went to the Post Office-- which i never ever do because I hate lines... but the line moved quickly and the lady was SO smiley and sweet! I asked her if it was legal for stores to upcharge stamps, and she said it was.
SO I bought $8.80 worth of stamps from her. She was really nice to me and walked me through the whole process. She pulled out a book of stamps, I gave her money and she gave me my change and thanked me.
It wasn't that hard!!!
I did hate parting with my $8.80 though... but the convienience of having stamps on hand cannot be denied...

Lash, They should also have vending machines at the post office where you can get stamps at the "cover" price, no mark up. Usually there is no line for the vending machine.
Of course going to the window, you get a choice of design on the stamps.

Cool thing about post office vending machines:
In my experience they are one of the most convenient places to trade paper money for groovy dollar coins!

The machines to get a subway ticket here in Boston also distribute dollar coins. It is always amusing to see a tourist buying a $2.00 ticket, putting in a $20, and getting 18 dollar coins back.

Lash buying stamps? It's akin to the first time Batman overcame the Scarecrow's fear gas!
