This is the official thread in which you are to discuss the current election of the LMB Leader (and Deputy Leader). This thread is intended to make general comments about the election process and the candidates.

All candidates must announce their candidacy in this thread for it to be considered official!

See this thread for the rules and for upcoming announcements.

Huzzah! It begins again!

While I have no political aspirations of my own, I have had my eye on one young fellow who I think is just the type of leader that Legion World needs in these dark times.

Dubbed the funniest poster by his peers, this fellow humbly deferred the title, opting to focus his attention on "serious issues," observing that:

"The earth is an insignificant, wet rock hurtling through a dark and dangerous universe. Doom, I say. I'm frightened for us all."

Now, that's the type of honesty and perspective rarely seen in our leaders. While I can't speak for him, if he's up for the task, I, for one, would like to nominate:

Ram Boy

What say you, RB... is it "The Year of the Ram?"

Posted by The Election Tyrant on :

*ahem* I should also point out that at the moment the Deputy Leader is to be determined by whomever finishes second place in the voting as it was in the classic LSH elections. Last election, we had running mates for the first time with candidates running with their own Deputy candidates as a "ticket". It was stated that an exception would be made for that election. If that exception is to be made again, there would need to be a general consensus as there was last time. Otherwise, the traditional method shall resume.

I feel that there hasn't been enough scandal in the current administration. Boring!

Bring on the back-room deals and the bathroom footsies under the stall and the ethical complaints and the taxpayer-funded 'fact-finding missions' to the Seven Planets of Sin!

Also, orgies.

I'll just pick a random poster out of the book.

Hmm. Not him. Nope. No way! Still owes me money. Aha!

"A vote for Shark Lad is a vote for not getting eaten!" (unless you like that sort of thing, in which case a vote for Shark Lad is a vote for totally getting eaten!)

I nominate Lardi. Because a Legion World Leader Election just isn't the same without corruption, bribes and false promises by the candidate and their promoters.

If Dr. Mayavale runs, I will gladly be his deputy leader on the ticket!

I kind of like the leader / deputy leader ticket idea so I for one am up for keeping that.

Thank you, Exnihil, I hardly know what to say.

Friends and Shark Lad, The other day, as I was seriously considering donating to an organization which takes sad little orphans to the zoo so they can appreciate first hand the baby seals, adorable penguins, intelligent rams and evil blood thirsty sharks, I realized that tomorrow isn’t just a word. No, it's also a place. A place where we can all meet and form bonds of unity, friendship and understanding. Bonds which will carry us through any adversity or - lol - "infinite crisis" - lol - to even more tomorrows. Then, right after I ripped up the check realizing I could always donate tomorrow, I thought, "You know? Tomorrow is cool, but today is cool, too. After all, it's what gets us to tomorrow."

You see, friends and friends to be, it's like we're all together in a car driving someplace, but because there are so many of us, we need something bigger than a car. Something more like… a bus. Not just any bus, though. A Special Bus!“

So hop on board that Special Bus with me and We'll Drive Towards Our Many Bright Future Tomorrows Together Today!

Furthermore, I humbly accept the nomination and vow to put aside any grievances and vendettas for the term of the campaign.

Same here. For what I assume are obvious reasons.

Meanwhile, I'm nominating Sarcasm Kid for LMB leader, mostly because at least that way he'll have an excuse for all those unfinished fanfics.

blah blah blah change hope new frontier blah blah...

That is all.

If we're going to go that way, does the Nominated person pick their running mate?

I'm up for the new way as well...

I am not declaring that I am running, but I will say that I have Mearl Dox's cupcake recipe...just throwing that out there [Wink]

I'm not allowed to run in back-to-back elections, am I? Even if I am, I don't think it's a great idea, especially given the last two terms ended up being about a year apiece! Maybe, however, I'll consider being someone's running mate... [Hmmm?]

Speaking of which:

Hmmm...it seems this concept still has a lot of support. While I'm not opposed, I'd remind everyone that the other way offers a nice consolation prize to the first loser, er, runner-up. Plus it's more in keeping with LSH tradition. But if everyone prefers running mates, I'm for it.

As far as how it worked, generally the nominee asked someone to run with them or someone offered him/herself up. It seemed to pan out pretty naturally.

Didn't realize that Lardi...shows how much I have not been around.

No, well kinda...the fact that you would be serving consecutively.

!!!SHOCKING ELECTION DEVELOPEMENT!!!

Legion World! Imagine my surprise when, a couple hours after waking up, I found this Post-It stuck to my forehead -

 -

Now, aside from the author's ability to write impeccably in comic sans, one of the very first things I noticed was the signature, "D". There's only one conclusion, I'm sorry to say. That being that one of my opponents is using the election to gain a position of leadership so HE CAN DESTROY US ALL!

Since BOTH of their names begins in the letter "D" I say we can trust NEITHER of THEM!

Posted by Dev Em on :

Alrighty then. Let's look at the "facts" here...

We're led to believe that my fellow candidate was awake for several hours before noticing a post it on his head? Says a lot towards the type of leader he'd be...not really noticing important issues until later on.

The other thing. Destruction...I believe that would be DEDMANs type of thing. Outside of his name sounding like "Dead Men" you can also get the word DEAD out of it!

Case closed!

Posted by Ram Boy on :

Interesting theory, "D"ev Em. But, until we get an expert opinion from the Legion World Post-It Analysis Center, I think the wiser course of action would be to trust NO Legion Worlder running for office whose name begins with the letter D and who also has access to red markers. Otherwise we may be risking ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION at the hands of a crazy lunatic mad man!

Case reopened!

(Incidentally, I talked with my cousin Goobs, who works at the Legion World Post-It Analysis Center, and he says they're not expecting any conclusive results until a couple days after the election.)

How convenient for you. I say that yours should be the first handwriting compared to said note.

Anywho...SWEET ASS SWEET!

Posted by Dev Em on :

I think Furball likes you more than Ram Boy.

Posted by dedman on :

I deny having anything to do with said note.
In fact considering I run and live in the Fusion Powersphere, I feel I am at more risk from this threat than anyone.
I call upon my former security office comrades to provide me and the powersphere with 24 hour protection.

No one can be trusted (except me!)

Posted by Dev Em on :

I'd also like to submit that the note was scrawled in red ink...who is associated with the color red here...DEDMAN. Just look at his profile pic!!!

Besides...my writing is much worse than that.

Memo from the Office of the LMB Leader--

Sorry I haven't had much input or commentary (other than a few snide debate questions [Big Grin] ) thus far in the election process, gang.

I've been kinda out of the political arena and letting cleome do most of the day-to-day since I ceded my consciousness over to my past-life during the Zardi crisis a few months back.

The good news is that the spell is starting to wear off and my own consciousness gradually returning since just before my birthday! Right now, I'm about 50/50 Lardy/Lardi and expect to be my full self before long. We're still keeping an eye on the Zardi situation, but it seems for now he's ceased all aggressions. I'm not sure, but I don't think he accounted for my bringing back Lardi and decided to rethink his approach. As we all know, no threat will ever be too big that Legion World and the LMB won't be able to beat back!

Anyhow, I'm pleased to see such a terrific trio of candidates to be my successor. Whoever wins is bound to represent us well!

I'll be at the Lair continuing to recover my full personality as the election process rolls on. Meanwhile, I hope our candidates will choose running mates soon, so that all citizens can make an informed choice as to who will be the next in a great tradition of LMB leadership. (And it might help me decide who gets my endorsement!)

SWEET ASS SWEET!!!

Posted by Dev Em on :

SWEET ASS SWEET Lardi. Glad to hear that you're doing better.

Take it easy and you can fully rest soon enough.

Steps up to the podium...ahem...

I'd like to take this time to thank the people that have gotten me this far in the process this far.

We must remember that the office of Legion Leader is one of great power and prestige. For ten years various members have bribed, embezzled and done things not fit to print while in office. I intend to do my best if elected to live up to the greatness that has come before.

I would also like to announce my running mate. This young man has more ideas than pretty much the rest of the LMBP put together...I'd like to welcome SARCASM KID to the Dev Em ticket.

My dearest Legionworlders.
I too have a running mate. She is a bright and energetic young woman.
A frequent poster across all boards. I am excited to have her as part of the run to LMB leadership.
I present to you my awesome running mate....Stealth!

Friends!

Romans!

Roma-ro-ma-ma!

Gaga-ooh-la-la!

Watch out for romance!

A vote for Dedman and myself means another useless bit of pop culture trivia will be disseminated through the internet. It means fans of the pre-"Lovedrive" Scorpions and post-"Lovedrive" Scorpions will be united in peace (although there would have to be a consensus that "Savage Amusement" was their last good album and that they didn't have a clue without Dieter Dierks producing.)

But I digress.

(Like that doesn't happen all the time.)

Horror movies and Hello Kitty. Heavy metal and classic Europop. Only the Dedman/Stealth ticket could bring such groups together in harmony.

Vote for us, and the LMBP will be even crazier and more inane!
