EDIT: Title changed to prevent the Lies thread from getting repetitive, and to contribute yet another "G" thread to MMB!

Oh, no, not this confused again!
Oh, no, not the same mistakes again!

You know,Stealth, that in twenty years or more you'll still look the same as you do today.
You'll still be a young girl, when I'm old and grey.

So, here's a pretty sweet song from the past year from the extended Genesis family. It's Nick Magnus featuring Pete Hicks (both from Steve Hackett's early solo band).

Very nice! [Smile]

Wonderful song!

This is the opening track off one of my favorite Genesis solo albums.

One of my favorite musical "what-if's" concerns what Genesis would've been like had Ant Phillips rejoined after Steve Hackett left. He was really on a creative high in the late 70s/early 80s, and working closely with Rutherford and Collins. It's hard to imagine them becoming the massive stadium band of the 80s with a guitarist who hates to play live, however.

Yes, that would be a barrier.

Thanks for posting the link. I know of Anthony Phillips only as a name; I'd never heard any of his work with or without Genesis before. I liked this song very much, although the singing was too fast. It was hard to understand the lyrics. (I figured out what the song is about by reading the comments below.)

Did you notice that poster who uploaded the video is called "tigertits"? Sounds like a pseudonym for Lash. [Smile]

Phillips' most famous song is probably Which Way the Wind Blows, featuring Phil Collins on vocals. Its pastoral sound is more typical of his style than his ventures into rock, such as Um and Aargh.

Ant's singing is at best average, though it beats the one album that Mike Rutherford tried to sing. Most of his albums since the early 80s have been largely instumental (and often just solo guitar or piano), which is also a bit of shame since his lyrics are often fairly witty when he writes them.

The Classic Era?

I've thought about doing an album by album review, if there's interest.

In the meantime, here's a nice vid of the classic line-up, performing Twilight Alehouse.

I've always loved the lines "Casting just a glance at the churchyard/Casting just a glance at my painted female friend", which seem to sum up so much so succinctly.

Yes, please.

I'll take that as evidence of overwhelming interest!

Reviews forthcoming...
