Boom Boom Boom, echos the sound of the drum urging the warriors forward to the oars.

Hrun stands in the bow of his ship, one hand resting on the neck of an ornately carved dragons head, the other grasped firmly around the hilt of his sword.

Staring intently forward, his eyes seek anxiously for a first sighting of his intended landing place.

“Faster my warriors” he shouts, “I promise you much carousing, food and drink will overflow and the women.......ah my friends let me tell you of the women”

Swiftly the ship surges forward, its target

Excuse me, Mr. Barbarian. Do you have the proper border-crossing papers?

Yes, for yourself... and for each of your warriors.

Yes, that's correct. Please fill out each form in triplicate.

Thank you!

Pressing an axe to the boarder officials throat
Hrun clicks his fingers and a female slave, almost dressed in two thin slips of lace, hands over all the relevant forms in triplicate.

As the Border guard looks in confusion between the paper work and the sensuous lithe attractive slave, the Barbarians slip across the border and into Legionworld space

The paperwork looks to be in order, but the Legion World dress code mandates that you wear something other than those "two thin slips of lace."

You'll have to accompany me to the Security Office to be... interviewed. This way, please... step lively. I'm most eager to begin the, um, procedure.

Hrun nodds to the slave and she walks off with STU

With a coy smile she beckons him into a small interview room to begin the ....procedure

Posted by Quislet, Esq. on :

Quislet, Esq. sees STU about to enter the interview room and grabs him. Pulling the struggling STU away, Quislet, Esq. repeatedly says "I'm saving you!"

STU manages to break free and Quislet, Esq. vanishes from the role play.

Hrun!

If you can spare a few minutes, I'd like a word with you.

Firing a broadside at Space Rangers craft, Hrun shouts into the sub space communicator,

"Imposter, the true Ranger is dead as thou shalt be for this insult"

Posted by Space Ranger on :

<Exits craft and catches Hrun's cannonballs in space.>

Okay Hrun...

<Starts juggling the cannonballs>

I believe these belong to you. You want them back one at a time or all at once?

Truth and Justice shall Prevail!
(Zero-Gee juggling, just one of my many talents!)

Ranger hears a ticking sound and one by one the cannon balls explode, covering him in a thick viscous fluid that slowly starts to harden around him immobilising the Ranger and leaving him floating in space helpless.

“Leave him” commanded Hrun, “We must press on to our prey”

And Hrun laughs

<Ranger flexes and the black coating shatters.>

You forget a little something Hrun?

<Ranger gathers the cannonball fragments and begins heating them with his super-vision.>

I think you get these back all at once now...

<A stream of hot viscus black liquid begins coating Hrun's Super-Longboat... of Space!>

Truth and Justice shall Prevail!
(Let's see how you get out of your own trap.)

Causing it to shear to windward.

Hrun uses his axe to cut the rapidly cooling and solidifying liquid away.

The boat speeds off into the distance.

A voice reaches Space Rangers ears.

"Fare thee well warrior, I must leave thee now. We shall no doubt meet on the field of battle on the morrow"

Posted by Space Ranger on :

On the morrow then, Hrun.

And if there is to be a battle...

At last. At long last. The tides are changing.

And how shall I play it? Which side shall I choose...?

<grins>

The same one I've always been on, of course...

[STU appears out of the interview room. He looks drugged, disheveled, and in a state of deshabille.]

Dude... that female slave... wasn't.

I think my... mind... was probed... Secrets of the Security Office... compromised...

Why didn't I listen to Quis...?

Posted by Cobalt Kid on :

But was it just your mind that was probed?

better your top than your tail ...

“A slave girl on the monitor for you Lord Hrun” said Earl Sigismund

“Report wench” said Hrun.

“My lord, I have probed the one known as Iron Rat, he is no longer as hard as Iron my lord. Whilst I probed he resisted some of my .......blandishments.....but I have the information about the security office you need. I am transmitting it now”

“Excellent” replied Hrun “well done my slave, now return to my halls and await further instructions”

Turning to Earl Sigismund Hurn gave a grim smile, “now it begins, if only we can avoid the one known as Space Ranger for a few hours more we may be able to do this”

<turns to STU>

Well, your return heralded the start of what I've been waiting for many months old friend. Time now for all the plans we set in motion long ago.

Once Hrun begins it, there's no turning back.

<grins widely>

Yes, it is time for the plans to move forward.

It seems my Legion World counterpart, STU-W, has once again fallen to dark influences. And there are disturbing portents about other troubling events to come...

For the good of the common Legion Worlder... we must march on!

Lo, though many of them will hate us for it, we must do what is best for Legion World.

Posted by Legatus Ferrous Rodentus on :

Yes, we must put the needs of Legion World's citizens above all else.

To paraphrase a great scribe: we may not be the leaders they want... but we are the leaders they need.

Posted by SharkLad on :

Careful you don't become the leaders we kneed ... or donkey-punched, for that matter ...
