One of my favorite holidays, being almost completely Irish-American! I hope you all have a nice day and are wearing green!

I, for one, have been celebrating since Sunday, although the debauchery was a bit heavy on that day. I'll go easier this weekend and enjoy the atmosphere! All guiness and whiskey all night for me!

Anyone NYC LWers going to the parade? I wish I could go, but alas, I have work. Funny enough, I bet most NYC LWers that live in NYC might not go since when you actually live there, you don't really think of that stuff...

Got my green on, as always. And I'll be stopping to pick up the makings for corned beef cabbage for dinner tonight.

Big family corned beef dinner for me on Sunday! Corned Beef is one of my favorite foods!

I'm wearing green today! Unfortunately, I'm on call this weekend so no debauchery* for me.

Jamie
*Drunken, that is. There still may be some debauchery going on....

I am wearing green. I don't have any Irish blood myself, but several of my relatives in Philly are either married to Irish-Americans or are partly Irish-American themselves.

But I'm afraid I won't be partying. My Alt ID, Amora the Enchantress, has the constitution for heavy drinking, but my Real Life self does not. I pass out after only two or three drinks.

I know what I'll do to celebrate: I'll re-read my Slaine album and my issues of Starslayer.

Yay!! I [Love] this holiday. My one of my mum's best friends is Irish-American so we always used to go to her house for a traditional St. Patty's Day meal-- though I haven't eated corned beef (or any kind of beef) for a number of years. Oh, it was good times. I have so many good stories... like that one time I caught on fire!!

Er, anyway... I only didn't go for the first time in as long as I can remember last year, instead I visited an Irish friend and we drank ourselves stupid. Also fun!!

This year, it's a roommate's birthday so who knows what'll happen? That said... I doubt I'll really do anything too exciting. I'm just lame like that and it's the weekend before finals. Probably just a green shirt and a few green jello shots for me...

How appropriate that this thread was started by the master of blarney himself! [Wink]

SPECIAL note to any posters or lurkers in eastern upstate NY or southwestern VT: All Stewarts shops are giving away free ice cream cones to anyone wearing green.

Have a good weekend, all! Drink and be debaucherous; help show that stoic humorless dead saint that Irish hedonism survived, despite his best efforts!

Meself, I'd stay away from green beer, tho.

There is a stone there,
That whoever kisses,
Oh, he never misses
To grow eloquent.
'Tis he may clamber
To a lady's chamber,
Or become a member
Of Parliament

Had a huge corned beef and cabbage dinner, and a pint of black & tan... had a long drive ahead of me, so I couldn't have a second pint.

Plus mom made me a loaf of Irish soda bread using my paternal grandmother Alice's off-the-boat recipe.

Have a wedding to go to tomorrow, so that'll be my real drinking day (no driving!)

Don't drink. Not Irish. Not Catholic. Don't trust little people. Not lucky. This day blows.

Didelty Dee Potatoes! Soooo Hungover. Green Beer... [Disgusting] what was I thinking?!?

Had a LOOOOOOOT of Guiness last night. Actually, I literally had about 12 glasses. And actually, I literally also had about 6 car bombs. I feel a wee bit unsteady today.

Corned Beef and Cabbage tomorrow with Irish Soda Bread! My parents grand-parents were all Irish immigrants so I'm ready to enjoy the Irish festivities [Big Grin]

My grandmother was Irish and my middle name is really Irish - "Desmond". But on Saint Patty's day I wore Khaki pants and a red sweater - absolutely nothing green. It's a holiday I've never participated in.

I had my birthday dinner party today and we ate -- chicken. Don't know what I was thinking. My mom makes the best Irish Stew...

[Bump]

We had Yuppiemart take-out pork bbq and sauteed collard greens for dinner. I guess that's sort of in the neighborhood, right?

I had a great day two-fold:

First, my boss and I went to NYC to see the Parade and then went to a few pubs. Yes, he's an awesome boss and I've been very lucky. Even cooler, we ended up playing flip cup with a couple of college kids--my boss & I and two girls versus a bunch of kids. They thought it was funny because my boss in his 60's. Little did they realize that I totally dominate flip cup and helped our team win most of the games. My suit was the perfect cover: they had no idea I'm a legendary partier from Uconn. Plus, I know how to cheat in flip cup in at least two different ways and I employed them both (in drinking games, if you're not cheating, you're not trying).

Then, as my "work day" came to a close, I headed back home and my wife cooked for us corned beef and cabbage (which we both love) for the first time. And it came out pretty good! We're both almost completely Irish-American. There was also Irish soda bread (not as good as my Mom's we both agreed) and carrots.

After that day, now that I'm all old and stuff, I was exhausted and only posted for like 15 minutes last night before zoning out on the couch.
