For the last 20 years or so, HarperCollins has been publishing The Chronicles of Narnia in the United States with the books enumerated in the order of internal chronology of the books, rather than in the traditional order, which is that in which the books were published. Their basis for this is a letter C.S. Lewis wrote to a ten-year-old telling him that he could read them in this order if he wanted to. The publisher claims this means that Lewis preferred this. This puts The Magician's Nephew, not one of the best books in the series, first, displacing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Now, a whole generation of children has grown up reading the books in what many of us feel is the wrong order.

After seeing a Facebook video link by a buddy of mine, I was reminded about a strange glitch in my memory:
I have no idea, among the bands Pavement, Fuel, and Filter, who sings what.
My brain just combines them into a "Bands with vaguely car-related names" which then promptly causes me to stop thinking about them.

And by that logic, you should read A Horse and His Boy before finishing The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

My job du jour has a stray/feral cat which I've never seen. According to the warehouse workers, he's been hanging around there for a year and they've never been able to trap him. Late at night after everyone's gone home, he strolls around the warehouse, tears small holes in the bags of cat food, eats a few bites of the "spillage" and then disappears again.
Yes, my job is in a facility that stores pet and animal feed.

Just found the three flight rings that came with the founders figures from DCD. After years of looking for them, I finally came across them. Hannah squealed when I gave her hers. She is so happy.
Jon is pretty geeked too, but Hannah has read through all the Archives and loves the Legion.

This morning my doorbell rings. I had been up for a couple of hours so no big deal. I go downstairs and there is an old man and old woman standing on the porch. I open the door and say "Can I help you?" The old man starts talking. He has an Italian accent. He says 'Are you from the third floor? Sorry signore. She wants the second floor." I go "Who are you looking for?" The old woman, who has a cane, start to try to come in. The old man says "There is no name on the second floor. We 'll just knock on the door." I go 'I can't just let you in. Who are you looking for?" He says "Her daughter lives on the second floor." I did not think this woman was my neighbor's mother. "What's her daughter's name?" "Lena" "There is no one named Lena living here." At which point they look around and the old man realizes that they are at the wrong address and points to the house next door.
I think the old woman didn't speak English.

I was afraid my computer needed work because it was so s-l-o-w the past couple of days. Then this evening it updated itself with Internet Explorer 9, and voila!...I have a zippy computer.

I tried out this new ointment that works great on canker sores. My untreated sores usually last a week, but with this I was completely healed in 3 days.

I was thinking about the friends I had as a kid. My best friend from 4th grade to 8th grade was Sean Doyle. (we went to different high schools, hence the drifting apart) I remember one time while on the bus headed back from a field trip thinking that wen we got older we could live together in an apartment. (1st clue for my sexual orientation)
Anyway, I looked him up on Facebook. Lo and behold, he is gay too. His status is in a civil union with another guy.
I'm thinking of sending a message to him, but am not sure what to say.

Going to a bbq in a couple of hours. I'd thought of baking something, but once the daytime temp went over 85 F, common sense won out. Instead, I scooped out some melon balls (first time I've ever tried Santa Claus melon. It's a little like honeydew but paler and much less sweet) and mixed them with rum sauce and some fresh berries. Then I made some fancy scallops on half the hollowed-out melon rind, which I can use as a "bowl" and set some bamboo picks next to.
Sometimes being a caterer's kid really pays off.
Sadly, there's no time to make an ice sculpture.

Well, you could start with "Hi, and congrats on your civil union."
Then move on to asking if he needs an attorney.
