As long as you leave the "Member Status" blank and then make a post, it should show you your rank within the pages of the forums. If you've put anything in that field, it'll override the board status.

That's what I had to do when I changed from Active to Deputy. The "Active" was auto-filled in when that was my status and I had to manually remove it so that my true status was show up.
