Well, the fellow who designed it is a prominent long-term member of Cthulu's perennial Presidential campaign. FWIW. He sent me swag in exchange for some art of mine he liked. You can see mr_cleome wearing its mate.
Though the designer has not confirmed it, I suspect these creatures have no true gender (as we humans would understand it) and reproduce much like retconned Durlans.

It's hard sometimes keeping track of how many diverging realities Our Leader appears in-- not to mention making sure there's enough clean, pressed suits for them all. You'd drink, too.
