When I was a kid, I was kept busy with studies and extracurricular activities. Resume padding was my life.

I told myself that once I graduated, I'd strike a balance in my life. I kept a list of things I would do once I did.

One Christmas, I finally got fed up with not having any skills besides the academic ones. So I decided to try one of the things which seemed easy - cooking.

My very first dish was a simple omelet (which I don't really count as a dish, it seemed so simple). I'd watched our cook at work and knew just what to do. Beat the egg, add some salt, coat the pan with oil, saute the veggies and bacon I'd mix in, remove, pour in the egg, put in the rest, and fold.

I made it without burning the kitchen down, and my parents were astonished I managed to do it.

My next dish was sizzling shrimp gambas, and it was a hit. Over that Christmas break, I added sukiyaki and tuna pasta salad to my repertoire.

Less than 3 years later, and my friends and family know me as a decent cook. I love trying out new recipes, and I especially love experimenting with whatever ingredients I can find in the kitchen. Strawberry-pineapple chicken anyone?

How about you, any firsts that you are especially fond of?

I know your firsts, but they don't [Razz] Why don't you tell them about the time you swam in the sea?

Thanks for being so supportive [Wink] And here's to you and me going through our to-do list together!

Okay so I was really stoked on the thought of being able to swim with the whale sharks. Although I know some swimming basics, I never tried swimming in the deep sea. I was always afraid I would drown.

An opportunity presented itself when I got the chance to travel in another country and snorkel. I thought it was a good time to practice my skills but boy I was nervous. IB was there, although not physically, supporting me with his ever-encouraging words: "I can do it" and "I will not drown."

I mustered my courage and swam in the sea. Off to the deeper parts I went, the words of my dear IB reverberating in my head. And woohoo! The anxiety quickly vanished until all that's left was the pleasant liberating feeling that... you've conquered your fears!

^you were so cute when you told me that, I just wanted to hold you and say, "Silly kid, you're not gonna drown. I won't let you." awwwww! I wish I had been there to see you conquer your fears [Frown]

Blaze helped me through another first of mine - first time I rode a bike. Blaze so very patiently taught me how to balance, and then... bam! Let go of me, and I was able to keep the bike upright past two parked cars. Whew! Now I can practice on my own, without anyone holding onto me.

Thanks baby [Smile]
