Who would you want writing Teen Titans, or Titan-related characters, so it could stop being so, damn, horrible.
These are writers who've never worked on Titans books.
Posted by Set on :
What, no Rob Liefield? No Justin Thyme?
On a more serious note, Gail Simone could be interesting as a Titans scribe.
Posted by Mattropolis on :
I voted. But neither of the two names I would have chosen are on there
Steve Englehart (I know, I know that he is long since out of comics, but he will ALWAYS be my favorite)
Kurt Busiek

I wanted to put up people who've never worked on Titans books before. That includes Liefield. And I know you're joking.
And I'm mad at Thyme. He knows what he did.

I voted for Paul Dini. In addition to being a talented and seasoned writer, he was also story editor on Season 1 of Lost, so he knows something about juggling large casts with complex relationships and multiple plot threads.
I'm sure some people expected me to vote for Alan Grant, but he works better on dark books with gallows humor than on the bright and shiny Titans.
Posted by Mattropolis on :
Dini would be good

ohhh i was looking for marv wolfman!!
Posted by MLLASH on :
My # 1 pick would probably be Mike Allred, doing story and art, but he wasn't on the list so...
I went with Arcudi.
Posted by Cobalt Kid on :
Great idea for a thread, SK!
I went with Roger Stern. If anyone could handle the Teen Titans in a way that made it unique as its own franchise but tied into all the mentor's lives, he would be it.
Plus he can write icons like Robin with the b-listers better than anyone.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
I should've already mentioned this, but I had voted for Jill Thompson.
You didn't really think I'd vote for myself, do you?
Posted by Dev Em on :
Dini. Guy has proven time and time again how great a creator he is.
Posted by KryptonKid on :
dr kevorkian
Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :
I'm tempted to say Darwyn Cooke.
Then again, Darwyn Cooke is my first choice to write just about anything.

Nice.

If not Allred on writing/art, definitely Cooke.

Same here. But I have like 15 other series Cooke needs to do first!
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
I'm sorry I didn't put him in the poll, I forgot. Sorry.
But no votes for me? Oh, now I'm hurt.
Posted by Eryk Davis Ester on :
As soon as you've written something as massively awesome as New Frontier, I'll completely support you!
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
And if I brought Lian Harper back to life?
Posted by MLLASH on :
I'm still waiting on the Scarlett/Madame 44 story to finish...
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Sorry about that.
Paul Dini's currently in the lead.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Bump.
Posted by CJ Taylor on :
I'm going to write in JT Krul!
I wouldn't mind seeing Matt Sturgis try his hand with the kids.
Fabian N. has a history of writing young adults. I'm sure he could make them work.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Krul's already been stated to start writing Titans later this year.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Another vote for Jill Thompson, but Dini's still in the lead.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Dini with 5
Thompson with 2
Morrison, Arcudi, Stern, Ross and Straczynski with one each.
Posted by Crymsun on :
McDuffie.. contrary to popular opinion, I think he did a great job with the Justice League, considering the hand he was dealt. I've loved his other past work, and I think he would be a perfect fit for the Teen Titans.
Posted by MLLASH on :
I liked McDuffie's stint on JLA also.

Posted by MLLASH on :
Great Space! Only 3 weeks to vote, peeps! Get on with it!!
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Three votes for me? Wow.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Seven! I'm ahead of Paul Dini.
Thank you guys. I promise to forget you all on my way up, and then beg for your attention when I drunkenly fall off the top
Posted by MLLASH on :
WOW!! Apparently the people have spoken, although there is a bit of time left to vote...
Posted by dedman on :
Though I have no idea who he is I voted for:
James *God Help Me* Robinson
soley because the wording of the poll was designed to get people to NOT vote for him.
Posted by Pov on :
Robinson is an otherwise AWESOME writer... Leave It To Chance, Starman... but he wrote the abominable Cry For Justice wherein Arsenal was mutilated and his daughter was killed.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Don't forget he also turned Tasmanian Devil into a rug and pretty much destroyed the Global Guardians.
It's nice to know people have such faith in my writing abilities.
Posted by Pov on :
Well, Global Guardians was a throwaway idea from the sucky Millenium event, and c'mon, Tasmanian Devil??
Still not a sign of a great or even a good writer to kill off characters he didn't create just to show how bad@$$ the villains he's writing are...
Posted by Fanfic Lady on :
Pov, I think you're getting your teams mixed up. The Millenium spinoff was New Guardians, and the Global Guardians had been around since pre-Crisis. I personally liked them, including Tasmanian Devil, but to each their own.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
But if he is thinking of the New Guardians I might have to agree. Jet and Harbinger I liked, but they created an openly gay magician named Extrano and a vampire that spread HIV called the HEMOGOBLIN.
Posted by MLLASH on :
Yes, the Hemogoblin actually infected half the team with HIV. I HATED that story.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
Voting has finally stopped.
In first place: Jude Deluca. Second place: Jeph Loeb. Third place: Paul Dini. Fourth place: Jill Thompson. Fifth place: Dwayne McDuffie.
Sharing sixth place: Grant Morrison, Robinson, Mary Bierbaum, Roger Stern, Alex Ross, John Arcudi, J. Michael Straczynski.
Posted by lil'rhino on :
As soon as you start writing it, I'll start reading it!!
Posted by MLLASH on :
Agreed!!
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
I have an idea for an Arsenal back-up. Roy's redeemed, Lian's brought back, and pretty much everyone involved in Rise except for Lian is brought down a peg for what @ssholes they were. Oh and the Legion is heavily involved.
Posted by Cobalt Kid on :
We're going to need an outline of the first 6 issues stat!
(I voted for Sarky!)
Posted by Pov on :
You should make Lian Roy's Arrowette.
Posted by Sarcasm Kid on :
It's actually a back-up feature.
Posted by MLLASH on :
So give us a practice proposal, SK. Make me want to read teen Titans again!

I deleted my summarization of what I'd do if given the chance to write Titans. You never know who could be looking for ideas.
Instead, here's a couple of pictures of why I want to write Teen Titans.
