I had an idea today for a fun project I think I'd like to take to shot at.
I wanted to try my hand at a little video editing and see whether I could make like a 30 second intro for a fake CSI: Legion World show.
It would be the same type thing as the usual CSI intros - a montage of characters and mood shots over a Who song (I'm thinking "Eminence Front" ) - but using different clips from movies and such to represent the most likely LMBers who would be in such a show.
So far, I was thinking Matlock (no brainer) and Saturn Girl as my leads, with Legion Tracker and My Whee Fem as two additional members, and then Dr. One as the "pathologist" type.
I'm thinking I'd like to put maybe two others in it as well (either two guys, or one guy and a girl).
So what two other LMB characters do you guys think would be a good fit in something like that? I'm looking for characters that have either had a "detecting" type background in-story, or whose names would suggest such a thing.
Any ideas?

Well Cobalt Kid was Chief of Security for the longest time.
cleome could be their plant specialist. "These spores are from the rare Yoddian Space Fungi. Which means the killer must be a Coluian."

Do'h! Of course Cobalt Kid. (slaps head).
... and that will actually make for some cool transition clips, as I was planning on using some shots of Alexz Johnson from the "Legion" episode of "Smallville" for Saturn Girl, so if I go with Cobie, I can use the Cosmic Boy from that same episode (Ryan Kennedy) and have them in some shared shots.
For Matlock, in a previous "casting call" I had used Peter Falk, but I'm thinking that won't work here, as it's not sci-fi enough. I might go with Harrison Ford in "Blade Runner".
For Legion Tracker, I'm going to use a Native American actor, maybe Taylor Lautner (still have to look at some clips) and for My Whee, I'll be using Devon Aoki (bits from "Sin City" and "DOA")
I'm a little on the fence on how to do Doctor One. I need some character that is "rocky" like Blok. The first thing that comes to mind is Michael Chiklis as the Thing in "Fantastic Four", but that might be too inseparable from the character to make it passable. Can anyone think of any other Sci-Fi movies or shows that have another rock-based humanoid?
I started working on the music last night to get an idea of the timing and it looks like it will actually run about 45 seconds. It's tricky to get smooth transitions when boiling down a 5 and half minute song to 45 seconds, but "Eminence Front" has a nice solid repeating guitar riff that helps act as a good guide for editing. I should probably have the finished audio by tonight.

Check out Eric Schweig for a Native American actor.
Its funny actually there are a lot that are of mixed descent Native American actors.
& Two GenCars Cobie and I have used over the years, LT. Hutch Starsky and Officer Kenny Ketchem.
And of course, Gladys the sentient disco ball.

Awesome suggestion on Space Ranger - I think that rounds out the main cast (although now I will totally throw a Gladys appearance into the montage.)
So I got the Theme Song edited down. It comes in a bit longer than I wanted - at a full minute (but maybe this is the extended version that they play on the pilot and then trim down later for the regular series).
I'm super happy with how it came out, as this is my first attempt ever at editing music. It totally has that "CSI" feel with the Who song, "Eminence Front" lending itself remarkably well as to a "ready for TV" edit.
I'm particularly pleased with the transitional segue between the "People Forget" and the "Dressed to Kill" segments, as I think that bit totally sounds like something you'd hear in a TV theme. Also I totally dig the sharp drop at the very end... the "go to black" moment before a commercial.
Now... to start working on the video... so excited!

OK, now that the music is done, my head is sort of naturally trying to figure out all the other parts, using the music as a timing guide.
Since the only other video I ever made was just a series of short clips strung together, I'm thinking this will be a little more complex. I figured a good starting point would be to "storyboard" out the way I'm seeing it in my head. I think this will act as a really good guide when I start selecting the different video clips to use.
This is really just an aid for myself but - since comments in some of the past projects I've done show that people seem to enjoy hearing about the process of making these different things - I thought I'd share it here.
This is still somewhat rough, but it should give a good idea about how I plan on marrying up the music, video clips, and effects I want to use:
Ooops... typo... that second Matlock block (at 0:09 - 0:10) should be a "close up".

This looks too cool for words! Thrilled you included Cobie and Space Ranger (the original LMB cop characters) and love the rest of the list. Matlock is a natural choice.
For Doc One, you could always use the late Michael Clarke Duncan if there was a way to make him gray and/or rocky.
This is going to be so cool!

Love it! Very creative, Ex.
Can I be a special guest star?

On it, Huey...
Beat Cop : <standing over a body> No wallet... no phone... no ID of any kind, sir. We think he was a drifter... just wandering through.
Matlock : Well, it looks like this time he wandered... <puts on sunglasses> ... into the wrong part of town.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
<cue theme song>
