For those of you not familiar with me and my hobby, I am a huge Legion fan and an action figure customizer. Last year I debuted my Legion figures at a mock Convention held twice per year called "Custom Con".

This year I am continuing my run of Custom Legion Action Figures, and if you're interested you can see the first day's submission here. If you're really interested to read how these were made, there is a "recipe" button at the top of the page.

If you are interested in more than Legion figures, the rest of the day's submissions can be seen here.

And if you are so inclined, or you just plain missed them, here's a link to last year's Custom Con. Mine are the Legion links that appeared each day.

Here's a little taste of what I did for this year (this one was inspired by Dean Lee's drawing somewhere here in The Bits):

And if you check out the rest of the Customs and say nice things [Smile] , Lester here says he'll give each and everyone of you a nice, shiney Space-nickel.

More to come...

Those are awesome Minesurfer! I love the Lester Spiffany and the Chuck Taine.

Now I'm just waiting for the line of LMB Action Figures! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Thanks Lou... consider yourself the owner of one bright and shiney new Space nickel.

LMB figures, hmmmmmm.....I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered it, but I don't know which way my customizing is going to go just yet.

Day two brings you some famous and not so famous Legion Villains

Universo commands you to check out these custom figures. He also commands you to hand over your Space nickels. Mwaaaahahaha!

There's alot of other good stuff today... check out Iron Cow's X-Men Evolution figures. Man I wish I had his talent. There's also three more Legion figures from the 80's by Brad. They are very nicely done.

Follow the index link in the first post on this thread and you'll see all that's available.

With heroes like these around, I'm sure you'll be getting your Space Nickels back in no time.

Well I wasn't expecting Custom Con to go into a sixth day, but it did. I had to do something other than Legion for a change of pace.

Not The Legion

Wow these are so awesome! You must spend a fortune on the base figures!? What's your typical time frame for a figure?

Thanks Mel.

I've thrown down some change on figures in my day... I'm ashamed to admit.

The time frame depends more on my mood than anything else. The Laurel Kent took me overnight basically. Something like Monstress that has epoxy curing as well as epoxy clay curing can take a few days. It's like grouting tile, you can't do it until the mortar sets. If sewing a cape is involved then you can probably double the time. What I like to do is sculpt something, then sew while the clay is curing. If I don't distract myself, I have a tendency to mess the figure up. If alot of sanding and filling is involved, then the time could double again. For a worse case scenario figure (lots of sanding, filling, sculpting, and a cape) if I worked on it straight and wanted good results... If I worked on it straight through, it would probably take the better part of two or three days.

The reality is... I like putting the plastic pieces together alot more so than painting them, so I do that until I get about ten figures ready to paint, then I paint them all over about two or three weekends. Every once in a while I get fed up and quit customizing all together and read books in my off hours. Lately, though it just seems like work ain't giving me too many off hours. [Frown]
