Here is the story of the Legion World Triumvirate, told from a historical perspective. There is some brief backstory where it needs to be, and this history will help anyone curious udnerstand how and why the Triumvirate came to be.

Part I: The Sad State of the Universe
It was the worst of times for the LMB and the worst of times for the universe itself.
Previously, new threats had arisen to such a severe degree, that the LMB goes against tradition and elects two leaders and two deputies to deal with these constant crisis (Iron Rat and Lucien Lad with Poverty Lad and Freekinos), to split the forces of the LMB in as many directions as possible.
After a massive corporate takeover of Earth, the LMB is forced to disband by the new world powers, as they pursue their own greedy intentions. Before any coherent plan could be formed, a great Crisis arose as a freak anti-matter storm began destroying everything in its path. In one last ditch attempt at saving the universe, the LMBer Space Tart sacrificed her life for to stop the Anti-Matter storm and succeeded, although many of the LMBers were caught in a spatial rift that took them to an anti-matter universe far away.
The universe continued to suffer. With the United Planets overrun by Corporate greed, the government began to fall apart. Suddenly, and without warning, alien barbarian tribes began invading the known portions of the universe. Separate from each other, but equally dangerous, these armies began conquering small sections of the universe planet by planet. Chaos ensued, and many were displaced, seeking to flee from the terror that was overrunning their lives. Large groups of nomads began wandering through the universe by any means possible looking for a new home.
The LMB went through an equally painful period, lost in the anti-matter universe. Broken, divided, and with many members dead and lost, the LMB persevered as best as possible. Many were split apart by far distances, and it appeared that the once great unity of the LMB was lost. Finally they returned home from the anti-matter universe, although were they would go from here was in question.
Two men, however, developed their own idea of how to survive in this post-modern, apocalyptic world. Nightcrawler and Lightning Lad, who previously had purchased the rights to a backwater farming planet, saw the potential for a great colony that could act as a beacon of light in the universe. They quietly began the construction of the planet known as Legion World, hoping to use it as a sanctuary for those looking to escape pain and persecution, as well as a center for promoting the values of justice and peace.
As the LMB returned to the main universe, they found themselves on the run and hunted by the authorities, accepting the irony that they were being hunted by the very institutions that they had protected for so long. In addition, an army from the anti-matter universe followed the LMB home, and also hunted them, looking for revenge. These ‘naturals’, as they were called, only cared about revenge and furthering their own destructive ends. Eventually, the remnants of the LMB took refuge among a Pirate community, ‘Ships ‘N Giggles’, although they looked for something to change the great catastrophic state of the world.
They found it. A relatively new member of the LMB, Kid Prime, was able to make contact with Lightning Lad and Nightcrawler, and begin planning the next step in fixing a universe that had gone so terribly wrong. Nightcrawler, Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl created a sterling Metropolis known as Legion World, which could be a center for justice in the universe. Kid Prime and Princess Crujectra soon brought the LMB to Legion World, as a place to set up their headquarters and make their home. The LMB quickly became immersed in the community, and began shaping the foundations of Legion World for the future.
Quickly, the lines between Legion World and the LMB became blurred. What was obvious, though, was that the two had the same goals of peace and justice, and restoring order to a universe gone awry. As the LMB prepared to elect its next set of leaders, it was voted that the LMB leader would occupy a position of leadership on Legion World, since the founders, who had many more important logistical matters to attend to, did not want any part in day to day Legion World politics. The newest leaders of the LMB, and first to occupy a position of leadership on Legion World, were voted into office, and Princess Crujectra and new LMBer Eryk Davis Ester were voted into office as leader and deputy leader.
There was still much to do in establishing Legion World. The infrastructure needed to be worked out, the city needed to be completed and an active bureaucracy needed to be created to solve a large variety of problems. How would the population be fed? How would the economy run? How much of Legion World should be dedicated strictly to farming and feeding the population, and how much should be industrialized for the economy? These were all problems that needed to be worked out by the founders and the LMB. Many LMBers were still scattered throughout the galaxy, and needed to be found and told of this new safe-haven, so they could rejoin their comrades.
Most importantly, the universe was unsafe. Alien hordes still spread their armies, hoping to conquer large portions of the universe. The Naturals, the army from the anti-matter universe, targeted the LMB. Earth’s corporations wanted the LMB for their own devious ends. And millions were still being displaced and persecuted brutally for evil reasons—millions that the LMB had sworn an oath to protect. Legion World was a target, and it would not be long before it was attacked. The LMB was in a rough state to protect it, and too much needed to be done on Legion World to fend off so many problems. Legion World needed an army.

Part II: The Rise of Eryk Davis Ester
It became apparent immediately, that the LMB itself would not be enough to defend Legion World from so many numerous threats. They were spread too thin, and too many were lost or feared dead. Even more, there was too much to do on Legion World in the early days, to worry about these potential threats.
What Legion World needed, the founders and LMBers decided, was an army. Word had spread throughout the universe, almost immediately, that there was a safe haven open to all refugees that could house and protect them, and provide food and healthcare for any who needed it. Immediately, large caravans of refugees began coming to Legion World by the droves, hoping to become a part of this growing community.
This created more problems than it solved. There was plenty of work to be done, and plenty of jobs to be filled. The majority of the planet-side was for farming, and farmers were needed by the thousands. To the shock of everyone, thousands of farmers soon arrived. Positions for technicians, clerical workers, laborers and a variety of infrastructure jobs were open—and these two were filled. Although it was a logistical nightmare, the incoming refugees were helping get Legion World on its feet quicker than it was previously thought possible.
However, the numbers continued to come in. Most of all, it was mainly young males, between the ages of fifteen and thirty, that were the most common in this group. It was Crujectra who realized quite suddenly that Legion World needed an army, and yet right in front of them Legion World had an army.
There was a scare that room would run out on the planet, and that there wouldn’t be enough jobs. Yet, if the young men and women who were coming in could take on the role of soldiers for the army of Legion World, two major problems could be solved. The call went out. Would these young refugees sign up as soldiers for this army? The answer was an overwhelming yes, and the first army of Legion World was created.
It came to Eryk Davis Ester, the deputy leader and administrator, to control and train the army. Princess Crujectra was far too busy, and Eryk Davis Ester suddenly found himself a general overnight. He would train the army and begin preparing for mobilization—the enemies of Legion World were too numerous and had to be stopped before the reached Legion World space.
Lightning Lad and Nightcrawler secured the means to obtain weapons and ships for the army to use, and Princess Crujectra allowed the Psyionian royal treasury to fund the payment for such an investment.
Eryk Davis Ester, nervous and unsure, assumed the role of a general and began building the first Legion World army. The numbers were good, but they were not great. The army was strong, but not that large, and still untested and untrained. It would not be greatly efficient. The training was unbearably rugged and strict, and discipline was drilled into them. Every day, Eryk Davis Ester trained with them and began winning over their hearts.
It was decided immediately that Eryk Davis Ester would need a second in command to help run the army, and it would need to be someone experienced in war matters and soldering. The best candidate, and most readily available was recognized to be Faraway Lad, a long-time LMBer that had joined them on Legion World. Faraway Lad had previously served as an officer in the army of King James, and was from the noble lineage of the line of Coulthard, a noble family that held high-ranking positions on his homeworld, and were lords of Hadrian’s Wall, an infamous military position. Faraway Lad had the perfect experience in administering and training an army, and he passed on as much wisdom to Eryk Davis Ester and the other officers, as he helped train the army of Legion World.
It took a longtime, even though they were rushed and on a schedule that seems ludicrous by any sane standards. Yet, the army was created, was organized and was trained, and then was prepared for the oncoming wars. Eryk Davis Ester, and his second in command Faraway Lad prepared strategies for their future, and became more confident in their positions.
Suddenly, it was time for them to go. Word reached them that an invading alien horde, the Khunds, had gotten close to Legion World space. Even worse, they were intercepting and destroying all passengers on cruisers attempting to enter Legion World. The time for war was at hand. Eryk Davis Ester, with a solemn face, saluted the flags of the LMB and Legion World, and headed off to war.

Part III: The Victories of Eryk Davis Ester
The battle with the Khunds, although feared well in advance and a terror in all Legion Worlders, was quick and decisive. The discipline installed by Eryk Davis Ester and Faraway Lad worked well, and the Legion World army cut through the Khundian army with incredible efficiency.
The Khunds were decimated and sent back to their territories. Eryk Davis Ester was not done yet. He pushed his army on, out of Legion World territory and into the conquered areas the Khunds had taken earlier in the year. Now he planned to push them back to their old borders and free the conquered peoples that were being persecuted.
The first campaign was long and hard, and battle after battle ensued, each one more victorious than the next. Eventually, the Khunds were beaten, and pushed back to their old territories. Humiliated, they sent envoys to sue for peace, to stop the Legion World army from conquering the Khunds own planets. The campaign was victorious. Eyrk Davis Ester had won.
Without a second thought about turning home, both Eryk Davis Ester and Faraway Lad decided that this was only the first step in what must be done. They believed the universe must be won back by these invading empires, and freedom must be rebirthed throughout the universe.
They next turned to the other invading empires, and pressed on in battle.

Part IV: From Dead to General, the tale of Cobalt Kid
Before Earth was taken over by a massive corporate conspiracy and before a variety of crisis had arisen to hammer the LMB, the first great tragedy they saw was the death of one of their most beloved members, the founder Cobalt Kid.
Cobalt Kid was a founder of the LMB and had served two long terms with the team. He had many great friendships and was beloved by both the team and the public he served to protect. Recently, he had completed a term as LMB Leader and finally married his longtime sweetheart, the LMBer Space Tart. He hoped to slowly decrease his status and take on a slower life, so Space Tart and he could enjoy life more and worry less about the pressures of being a super-hero. However, one day he went on a minor diplomatic mission that finished early. On his way home, he boarded a cruiser that had a bomb planted on it by an act of terrorism, and was killed in an explosion. His fellow LMBers mourned for a longtime, and his wife Space Tart never truly recovered. Cobalt Kid, the heroic young LMBer, had died.
Unbeknownst to the rest of the LMB, Cobalt Kid had been kidnapped by his secret arch-nemesis Dr. Albert Hoffman, and his barbarian partner, whom Cobalt had jokingly named Dark Conan. For the previous four years, Dr. Hoffman and Cobalt waged a secret war that Cobalt never spoke about to anyone but Spacey, as Dr. Hoffman kidnapped and tortured Cobalt repeatedly, in sickeningly gruesome acts that often resulted in his loved ones being killed. Dr. Hoffman was responsible for Cobalt’s previous disappearance as well. This time, he imprisoned him for months. Finally, after being pushed well past his breaking point, Cobalt escaped from prison, and had his final confrontation with Dark Conan and Dr. Albert Hoffman. He brutally killed Dark Conan with his magnetism, and stabbed Dr. Hoffman through the chest with an ancient sword, killing his ancient enemy. Finally, he left this pocket dimension and returned home.
Months had passed. Cobalt was in a deranged state of mind—he had been tortured and malnourished for months, and had just killed two men, an act he had sworn to never do. He knew he must return to his friends, but they seemed to be lost. He had arrived right in the midst of the troubles, and Earth had been taken over by the corporations, the LMB was lost and wanted by the authorities and alien barbarian hordes had begun invading and conquering large parts of the galaxy.
Somehow, Cobalt managed to find his way to the epicenter of a major invasion, as a large group of refugees were fleeing from the invading army of Okaarians. Without a second though, Cobalt fiercely defended the crew, and used his magnetism to not only beat the Okaarians, but to brutally destroy any trace of their army—clearly the result of his warped state of mind.
The men swore they would fight by his side, and he promised to stop the Okaarians throughout this part of the world. Legend quickly spread of this, and many young refugees who remembered reading about and watching the LMB in the previous years recognized Cobalt’s name and came to join him. Soon enough, a small army began following him on his journeys.

Part VI: Loyalty and Love for the General
Cobalt Kid based his army on the old principles of the Roman Republic, three thousand years earlier. It was divided into Legions, and the chain of command was strikingly similar.
Whenever Cobalt could secure new arms or new transportation, he would, so the fleets grew in immense size, and the rag-tag appearance of the army soon became a uniform crimson and bronze, with arms for each member. Cobalt trained them all brutally and harshly, undergoing the training with them himself. He schooled them all in being able to use the new technology available to them. More importantly, he taught them how to be efficient in hand to hand combat, specifically with a sword and a spear. Each man was forced to become brutal in these two categories, relying on Cobalt’s own words that “technology may fail you, but a healthy and strong sword arm will not.” Cobalt also tried to use his magnetism as little as possible in training or in battle, so he could be not only as equally efficient as any other member of his army, but one of the best at every aspect of their battle style. However, he never hesitated on using his magnetism to end a war quickly if it was possible.
Cobalt won the respect and admiration of his army for above all else being one of them. He slept on the ground with them, he carried his own weapons, rations and tools, and he did not accept any ideas about the men doing his share of the work for him. He was their general and their commander, but he instilled into them a sense that he was a soldier like they were, and that he was just as loyal to them as they were to him. They were unlike any other army in the universe, as they had no planet or territory that they fought for. They fought specifically for Cobalt Kid and they followed his every order.
The army grew into a harshly disciplined, heavily regimented warring machine, and was capable of destroying the armies that it warred against. Quickly, Cobalt’s army began moving through the universe, conquering back the invading empires to their borders, and showing no quarter to any of them. Cobalt gave strict orders to destroy any emissary of the Corporate heads of Earth. He also learned of the fate of the LMB and was greatly saddened by it. In truth, he not have any idea what to do with himself, so he continued to push on, fighting back against what he saw as these evil empires.
He gave strict orders that no one was to be forced off the land that was traditionally theirs before they were conquered, and that his army did not make war on women and children. Rape would not be tolerated—although women eager to please his soldiers was always a welcome part of heroically defending a planet from an invader.
Scipio was Cobalt’s chief lieutenant and served him well. He was a military genius, and was one of the most skilled men at battle strategy that Cobalt had ever seen. A large portion of their victories were due to Scipio’s brilliant plans. Even more great than Scipio, was Martyrious, a great general who had brought his own refugee army to join Cobalt Kid’s in his pursuit of justice. Martyrious was known to be a hard man, and one of the roughest warriors the universe had ever seen. It was said that he could cut off both of your arms before you pulled your sword from its sheath. Previously, he wife and children had been killed by invading Okaarians, and it was said that he only felt truly happy again when he was engaged in the middle of a war. Martyrious also was known for a variety of funny gallows humor type sayings, often finding it terribly amusing that he his men would almost certainly die. He was equally loved by Cobalt’s army, as was Scipio, and the two of them ensured that Cobalt was both victorious and exalted and worshipped by his soldiers.
Finally, after months of campaigning against what he saw as his enemies, Cobalt was able to take his army in reach of the old LMB Outpost, which he believed to be long abandoned. He approached alone, not wanting his soldiers to see him show any emotion on the fear that he would. He was shocked to find the Outpost not only open, but functioning well, and with people inside. These people, he was shocked to find, were Crusader and his boyfriend Maxx.
When the LMB returned from the anti-matter universe, they went on the run from the authorities and abandoned the Outpost. One LMBer, it was decided, would be elected to remain behind and man the base. It was Crusader, a LMB founder, who volunteered and stayed behind. Upon seeing him for the first time in months, Cobalt became visibly choked up at the knowledge that his friends and only true family might still be alive. It is not recorded about what that emotional meeting was like, although it is apparent that Crusader and Maxx consoled their obviously traumatized friend after all he had gone through, and renewed his hopes that the LMB could still exist in this post-modern apocalyptic world. Crusader also used his empathic powers to heal Cobalt emotionally as best he could, to help him deal with the personnel trauma of such a long and painful period of torture. Cobalt left the Outpost, with a renewed sense of hope, and began searching for Legion World, where he heard his fellows had taken residence. His army followed suit.

Part VII: The Great Specter of Evil
Eryk Davis Ester pushed his army forward and began clearing out many of the alien hordes that had threatened the universe. However, they were so numerous, that it would be impossible to be rid of them all—that would have to be a long-term goal. He also avoided any contact with Earth and the Corporations, as far as he was concerned, they could left to their own vices.
However, the great specter of the Naturals hung over his head. They were a powerful army that had followed the LMB from the anti-matter universe and they were coming to Legion World with the intentions to destroy it. Every day, Eryk Davis Ester received word that the Naturals were growing ever closer and the biggest battle of all was just over the horizon.
Soon, both he and Faraway Lad agreed that it would be time to abandon any further conquests against the invading alien hordes and focus exclusively on the naturals. He began preparing for the most major of all campaigns.
On Legion World, the population feared the oncoming battles every day. The LMBers, hard at work at establishing a working Legion World, tried to ignore their anxiety as best they could, but it was to no avail. Every day, people waited to hear about Eryk Davis Ester.
Among his army, Eryk Davis Ester had grown in immense popularity. For some reason, every time a major battle was about to occur, a great catastrophe would occur in tandem, such as a major tidal wave or a volcano erupting, or a meteor shower reigning down, so that the other army was devastated by natural causes. Eryk Davis Ester’s luck powers were helping wipe out the other armies, and his own superstitious army began whispering that he had been “touched” by the Gods. Other rumors floated around about him, such as he having a beautiful mistress named Teeds who awaited him to come back home to Legion World, and that this mistress was an even fiercer warrior than he was.
One day, it happened. He received the word that the Naturals had arrived, and they were going be entering Legion World’s space within a few days. The battle had come, and their army was even larger than was expected, at over twenty times the size of Eryk Davis Ester. Anxiety and nervousness filled the men. The time had finally arrived.

Part IIX: The Decision of Grey Birdboy for War
It as upon feeling this anxiety, that Grey Birdboy came to the conclusion that the Legion World army would not be enough.
Grey Birdboy had been a LMBer since the first year of its inception, and had served many terms with the team, coming and going on different occasions. He had been with them throughout the entire period of being lost and being on the run, and had happily settled on Legion World to begin a new era of peace. He was one of the most acute and one of the most brilliant of all the LMBers, and he was known for being very analytically precise and very cunning.
The anxiety of the coming war had gotten to him, and he began to feel that Eryk Davis Ester had virtually no chance. Even if all of the LMB could unite and fight with them, which was not going to happen, it would still be utterly impossible. Putting himself at risk, he left Legion World and made his own preparations.
He quickly flew through space, at a rate far faster than a cruiser, and journeyed to his native planet, Starhaven, with plans of gaining their help. He was a celebrity on his own planet, and although his people were more calm and collected than others, they respected and admired his life with the LMB and what it stood for, and looked upon him very favorably. He arrived and immediately called upon the elders for a council.
At this council, he told them all with great honesty and directness what was going to happen, and what he thought must be done. He asked for an army of Starhaven soldiers, winged spearmen efficiently armed and already trained, to be given to him as his own personnel army, to defend Legion World and the LMB. It is said that this speech, which was not allowed to be recorded, was one of the most heart-wrenching and brilliant displays of rhetoric ever given, and had one over every single member of the council.
Within an incredibly short period, the army was granted to him. It would take sometime to mobilize, and Grey Birdboy anxiously awaited.

Part IX: The Great War
The Naturals finally arrived, and the war began. Battles were fought every day, and strategies were developed between both sides of the army. At first it was a stalemate, and no side was excused from suffering. There were heavy casualties, and it looked like it would be a costly war. However, it began to become apparent that the Natural’s numbers were far too numerous and never-ending, and that the tide was turning in their favor.
And then, on the fifteenth day, word was received by Eryk Davis Ester that a third army had entered Legion World space and that it was coming this way. All that was known about it was that it supposedly was coming in peace, and it may actually be willing to help Eryk Davis Ester’s army. The condition was that they would send their top lieutenant, or ‘primus pilus’ as this army called it, in exchange for theirs, and that would seal the deal, formally allying the two armies. With no choice in the matter, both Eryk Davis Ester and Faraway Lad agreed.
This army was the army of Cobalt Kid. He had entered Legion World space, although he had never been there and did not know what to expect. He sent out eight scouting cruisers to gather information, and what they came back with shocked him. A war was going on, and Legion World, where he believed his allies to be, was on the verge of being destroyed. Legion World’s own army was fighting valiantly and brilliantly, but the other army was far too large. They needed help.
Cobalt decided that he needed to send word quickly, and Scipio came up with the idea of switching Cobalt’s primus pilus with theirs, to make the deal symbolically sealed. Since Cobalt had never heard of this ‘Eryk Davis Ester person’, he was not sure what to expect, but he heard he was a new LMBer and that was good enough for him. He did not reveal who he was just yet, in case he scouts were intercepted by the enemy. His primus pilus, Martyrious, the great grim warrior, was sent to Eryk Davis Ester with a small regiment to join his army. What Cobalt did not know, was that it was Faraway Lad, his old friend, who had been sent to join his army.
Upon receiving Martyrious, Eryk Davis Ester was relieved beyond all relief that another army had journeyed across space to help them. Further, it was an old LMBer he did not meet ever get the chance to meet who was previously assumed dead that was leading them. Quickly, they came up with new plans.
It’s said that when Faraway Lad entered Cobalt’s personnel cruiser, he was unsure what to expect. Unsure of who to address, he asked “Tell me sir, why is it that you all have come here to risk your lives for us against such numerous odds?”. Before any could reply, Cobalt Kid spoke from the corner, unseen by Faraway Lad, saying “come now Darden…you weren’t going to die alone, were you?”. As Faraway Lad turned to see his old friend, it is said that he visibly wept for all to see and embraced his old friend as the two were reunited. From then on, it became clear that this alliance was a forever lasting one and that Faraway would gladly now serve as Cobalt’s primus pilus.
Now, the war became more brutal and harsh. Word spread through Legion World, and rumors of Cobalt Kid’s return as a general were everywhere, so that his old friends curiously and anxiously waited to see if they were true and he would arrive. Both Eryk Davis Ester and Cobalt Kid waged war as best they could, and the fighting continued. The armies of Legion World now began to destroy the armies of the Naturals in large numbers, so that the fighting was becoming more even. Even at this rate, however, their hopes were not great.
Posted by Cobalt Kid on :
Part X: The Finale to the Great War
At one point, Eryk Davis Ester’s armies gained some huge ground by destroying the enemies left flank and began a major rout. Martyrious himself led this rout, and was very successful. Ultimately, however, he and a large portion of his squadron were captured and taken prisoner. The leaders of the Naturals gathered around and held him in a trial, allowing him to remain armed with his sword as he spoke. The asked why he would ever care about the LMB or Legion World and why he would die for them. He replied simply with this: “I know nothing of such grand things. It is for Eryk Davis Ester that I live and that I die,” and then he pulled his sword and plunged it into his own heart. It is also said that he began to cackle and howl with laughter and his fell to his knees and died in front of them all.
From this moment forward, the army of Eryk Davis Ester adopted the words of Martyrious as their oath—that they would both live and die for Eryk Davis Ester. It is generally accepted that it is this point that the first army of Legion World transferred its loyalty to its general Eryk Davis Ester, instead of Legion World itself, so that it adopted the model of loyalty that Cobalt Kid’s army had.
After this sacrifice, the two armies became reinvigorated, and both Cobalt Kid and Eryk Davis Ester wished to end things. They picked a small pass between an asteroid belt and a meteor shower to defend the caravan of cruiser from coming through to Legion World. Meeting up for the first time face to face, the looked each other square in the eye. Finally Eryk smiled and Cobalt grinned, and they shook hands and embraced each other, prompting Faraway Lad to say something along the lines of “yes, yes, we get it, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship…”. This small asteroid belt is known as Thermopolyae.
The Naturals came in large columns, and prepared to bull them right over, blast their way through and head to Legion World. In a display of conceit, they sent an envoy to say that they would fill the sky with explosions so big, it would block out the sun. Eryk Davis Ester, remembering his dead Primus Pilus Martyrious simply laughed and said, “Good, then we’ll fight in the shade”. The envoy, now angry, then demanded that they lay down their weapons and be spared. Cobalt replied simply with a “Come and get them.”
The final battle began at a point that no one could remember being either morning or night, since they were in space. But once began, it was the most bloody in recent history. Casualties were high, and they were mainly the Naturals, being consistently butchered, as the two armies refused to give up the pass. Cobalt Kid, Eryk Davis Ester, Faraway Lad and Scipio all actively joined in the fighting, both aerial and hand to hand. After awhile, it began to be clear that they would all die, although they would take out as many as they could before they did.
And then salvation came, and came in the most famous moment of battles turning the tide in living memory: Greybird arrived with a fresh army, well-trained and well-disciplined, and ready to destroy the army threatening to destroy his home. “Show no quarter,” he demanded, and the StarHavenites attacked with a ferocity unmatched in the war. The Naturals were caught between the two armies, unable to move on either side because they were caught in such a tight pass. They were butchered.
The armies of Cobalt and EDE, now exhausted watched on as their StarHaven allies decimated their enemies. “I’m not letting them have all the fun,” said Faraway, and soon both armies pushed on. Eryk turned to Cobalt, in a famous moment said “Jeepers! I guess this makes it a Triumvirate!”. Little did he know how right he was.
All three armies converged on the Naturals, the anti-matter army was completely and utterly destroyed. Before anyone could give an order of what to do with their leaders, the soldiers marched in and killed them all, although none of the Triumvirs seemed to mind this at all.
The battle was won, and the armies of Legion World had won.

Part XI: The Triumvirate
After the battle, the three armies stood victorious and Legion World had been saved. Even more, the long-standing fear of the enemies of the anti-matter universe had been vanquished. The armies had succeeded with every odd stacked against them.
The three generals finally met face to face, and upon seeing Cobalt, Greybird gave a rueful grin, happy to see his good friend alive and well, said a hearty “welcome back”. After a hearty celebration with all three armies (still in space and aboard cruisers), the focus of discussion turned to the question of where to go from there.
The solution was not simple, but they came to some strait-forward conclusions. First, each army was now loyal to the general of the army, which was painfully obvious. There was no loyalty to Legion World itself. This was both incredibly efficient in administering the army and being successful, but also very dangerous for Legion World. Further, there was not enough room on Legion World for three armies to be given land, employment and the necessities of life. Therefore, the old laws of Ancient Rome once more were applied to Legion World: the armies were forbidden, under ancient law, from ever actually entering the cities of Legion World. The armies also now remained loyal specifically to their general.
Further, there was the continued threat of the various other alien hordes that had invaded the galaxy and were establishing empires. They still had to be dealt with, and so did the Corporations that were running Earth. The three generals concluded that there was an ongoing and necessary need for the armies to continue to exist, and that they would continue to do so in the capacity of conquering these alien empires and pushing them back into their old empires. Further, the armies might also begin venturing into these faraway lands and begin conquering these empires preemptively, which would be economically beneficial to them as well. Although it was unknown at the time, this is exactly what happened in the ensuing months.
The armies were three distinct armies, and it was clear that they could not exist as one. It was also clear that there could not be one supreme commander, since each army was exclusively loyal to its own general. It was then that Cobalt Kid suggested they follow Eryk Davis Ester’s previous comment days earlier, and form a Triumvirate. They could each by Triumvirs, totally and exclusively in charge of their own separate army although with the same goals and loyalty to Legion World and what was best for Legion World. They would follow the traditional values of the LMB when conducting war, and would use the numerous funds to benefit the cities of Legion World through new buildings and investments. They would serve as Triumvirs for life, since no one else could ever gain the love and admiration of their armies as they had done. Thus, the Legion World Triumvirate came into existence.
Afterwards, each army was placed in control of the primus pilus (Scipio for Cobalt’s army, as Faraway Lad returned with him) and prepared to go their own separate ways to begin reconquering the known universe. Eryk Davis Ester, Grey Birdboy, Cobalt Kid and Faraway Lad returned to Legion World, where they were greeted as heroes for saving the planet from destruction. Cobalt Kid was reunited with his long lost friends, and Eryk Davis Ester was exalted as one of the greatest deputy leaders of all time for his sacrifices and bravery. Grey Birdboy was looked on with great admiration for his well-thought out planning and cunning and his bravado. As the three were honored, a large ceremony was held. Unfortunately, Cobalt Kid had just learned that Space Tart, his wife, had died in the previous months saving the universe, and that she did not return with the rest. Solemn, he accepted his place on Legion World, and Princess Crujectra embraced him tightly to console him.
From that day forward, the Triumvirs have acted as a major institution on Legion World, and will continue to do so. They have been extremely effective in the past, during the assault on Taltar, in defending Legion World from Phineas B. Fuddle’s large StuBot army and in a variety of other instances. They will continue to be effective.

You have no respect for Benevolent Possessors of Power, methinks, Reboot.
In any event, a satisfying event to have my memory *ahem* jogged about those illustrious doings, Cobaltus. May all malefactors remember what was forged in those days, especially any remaining Naturals, wherever they may lurk!

Good job with the recording of events, Cobaltus! I only hope when I write the history of the time between the corporate takeover of Earth and the founding of Legion World, I can live up to the model you have set!

Thanks guys! I think this is actually one of my favorite pieces I've ever written in LMB mythology. I hoped (although I figured) that you'd both like it!

Nice bit of writing Cobie.
Some great little one liners as well.
I am looking forward to leading a few cohorts in some independant action.

The one-liners I'm especially proud of
Most of them are all stolen from actual history (the Spartans mainly) and one from a Clint Eastwood movie, but I think their appropriate as a fitting tribute!

If someone possesses power, chances are they're not to be trusted
