Sorry to do this early, but I have to work tomorrow, so if I don't do it now I may not get the chance until Sunday.
This is very rough, but I really didn't have time to add color and stuff to it.

A truly adept, utterly crafted in anatomy, Legion-history-rich composite portrait, and he calls it "my feeble attempt." These artists are never satisfied ;) ... I would be astoundingly pleased to have one-tenth Gary's ability. It's more like one-hundredth.
And MELad's photomanip glistens, as well.

Hey, Vee!
I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of loading the image to here and editing it into your post. I had to log into Yahoo! in order to see it before.
I wanted to be like Drake and wait until the end to add some comments, but everybody has done such a great job so far it's hard to stay silent.
I love the hair on Vee's manip. Drake shows us another pro worthy image. MEL's manip (like all of his others) is so realistic, it's scary! And Cru and I seem to have had similar ideas. He's conveyed a lot with a few lines. Very Nice! Great job everybody!
Now where's the poems and stories?

Minesurfer, having read the thread about how these are actually made, I'm even more impressed with how you make them turn out.
Gary, I wish I had 1/10 the talent you do when it comes to drawing and graphics in general.
Cru, I really love the concept behind yours.
MEL, maybe someday my manips will be in the same league as yours. They are utterly amazing!
Drake, your talent for depicting Legionnaires is just phenomenal. You are definitely one of the top Legion artists of all time, in my opinion.

THE FINAL MOMENTS……
He’d had enough of this place, he thought for the 10th time this hour.. Come to think of it – he’d had enough of this place 35 years ago, shortly after he’d arrived. After he and Mano had been sentenced to spend the rest of their lives here. Mano had managed to survive here without any problems, even without the all-powerful hand, which had been gnawed off, justifying his own sentence. Mano was mad enough in the first place, so this was more like coming home, rather than a punishment. Mano revelled in the anarchy, played the games and even had managed to obtain a certain amount of freedom after all this time. In fact Mano was the celebrity here, the maddest amongst the mad.
For him, however, this was like a lifetime of insanity every day. He may have been a bit of a loner, but to be chained to a wall like a beast was almost unbearable. To be caged like the wild beast that he had proven he was. But then it was no wonder that he had lost the plot. Still, thirty-five years and counting – longer than he’d been free.
He was glad that there wasn’t a mirror in the cell, because he dreaded the thought of how his boyish good looks had fared. No sunlight on his skin for such a long time, and not even a comb through what was left of his hair. He had always thought of himself as good-looking, bur he hadn’t had a complete nights sleep since he had been incarcerated all those many years ago. You learned to live with it though, cat-napping when the opportunity arose. The daytime was noisy enough, but the nighttime was even worse. Listening for every noise, squeak, creak, and groan outside his cell, knowing that certain elements wandered after lights out, trading “justice” for favours…..
Timberwolf wasn’t one for favours. He’d taken his share of beatings, and given his share in return. He was seen as the scum in this world of disease addled brains. He was the enemy even more so than the wardens. His was the scalp that they all wanted hanging on their belts……….And, hell; he had to admit that he was getting old. He wasn’t sure just how much more of this shit he could stand. That was why he was still chained. Caught once too often defending himself in his own cell, though he had a feeling he’d been set up nicely, though for what reason he wasn’t absolutely certain. But the whispers in the wind were that Mano had joined the darkness patrol now, and had a score to settle. His hand…His power…. His revenge.
Who would have thought that almost 1000 years after it had been destroyed that the Far Right Wing do-gooders had managed to re-build an Insane Asylum on the same spot. There must have been evil spirits at play when they even named it after the original Arkham…..And the very same spirits had stayed around to infuse every brick, every sheet of plexiglass, right down to the very foundations of the building.
It seemed to be the detention centre of choice for celebrity, due to its high profile nature. The trial of Timberwolf had certainly been high profile. Live on 40 channels every day. Not a sentence, not a facial tic, not a drop of sweat that didn’t go through analysis on each of the 40 channels.
Perhaps threatening to eat the judge’s entrails with Fava beans and a nice Chianti hadn’t been the smartest move after all. Live throughout the known galaxy. Not one of his finer moments. He might have been paroled by now if not for that. Perhaps it had been his calm demeanour, the fact that for once he hadn’t lost his cool that had freaked everyone. My, but how the press had a field day on that one. A frenzy, in fact. Trial by press – not the first and not the last. After that even the Mini Mouse Channel had a correspondent in court.
But how would they all have felt if they had seen their families, for that was how he had seen the Legion, destroyed, one by one by that bastards hand. The power diluted so that they went painfully slowly in some cases, blood vessels exploding individually in a wave, ripping up their bodies, their lives draining away amidst the screams. At least the women were killed quickly and almost mercifully compared to the men. Heads exploded one by one, like watermelons dropped on to concrete.
How Mordred and Mano had managed to capture most of the Legion had never been ascertained. The fact that they had, however, had been the death knell of the once proud band of heroes. At least Timberwolf had managed to kill Mordred with Manos dismembered hand. But had saving the world stood him in good stead during the trial? Had it hell! He was an animal, and the Legion had been renegade deathmongers who invited attempts at world domination so that they could prove their mettle. Simply by existing. Fucking lawyers.
Now the last remains, Jo and Zoe were away taming dragons somewhere. They’d only come to see him once, to bid their fond farewells. He wasn’t enough to keep them here, and their dropping past had been much appreciated. But the law is the law, and he understood that his pleas for a breakout had fallen on deaf ears. No offence taken. Upholders of the law were supposed to uphold the law after all.
Lights out had been three hours ago. The guards would be supping on their coffees in tha guard house, possibly even watching the Plaything Channel. They didn’t want to be around this building any more that anyone else after the lights went out.
Timberwolf could hear a swelling, a chant starting up, but he couldn’t quite distinguish what the chant was yet. He strained to listen. Strained every muscle in his body, but being manacled in an X to the wall didn’t actually help his cause any. All he could do was wait, and that wouldn’t be for long.
“Man-o, Man-o, Man-o, Man-o” the volume rose, making the chant distinguishable against the well-nigh constant background screams and cries.
Through the small barred window of his cell Timberwolf could see a slight lightening, casting shadows, getting brighter, drawing nearer as the chant grew louder. This didn’t look good.
“MAN-O! MAN-O! MAN-O!”
It sounded now as if everyone in the building was making their way to his landing. Tables were being thrown over. Broken into handy sized torches. The light was increasing as these were handed around the approaching crowd. There was blood-lust in the air – Timberwolf could smell it mingled in with the smell of burning.
“MAN-O! MAN-O! MAN-O!”
Timberwolf strained at his bondage, but the cell had been made especially to detain him and he didn’t stand much of a chance of breaking free.
“MAN-O! MAN-O! MAN-O!”
The chanting seemed to reach a crescendo, right outside his door and then went silent.
A torch came nearer to the window, but Timberwolf could not see through the flame to who was standing behind it. He had a fair idea who it might be, though.
He watched the door handle, trying to get his breathing in check.
A key turned in the lock – a throwback to the olden days, chosen because electronic signals could always be manipulated. And possibly because it had seemed “quaint” to the establishment. So, they must have had an insider on the staff. Well, that didn’t come as a surprise, it only took one bent screw to give the system a bad name.
He may be old and bound, but by Christ! his teeth were still sharp. A snarl started in the back of his throat as he strained forward, as ready as he could be for whatever entered his cell.
The doorhandle turned. The door started to open very slowly.
CreeeeeeaaaaakkkkkkKKKKKKK…………………

Well, I suppose I can't let the spotlight on my fave Legionnaire pass by without offering something. This is an extract from a story that I have been messing around with forever. (I actually had to work this part over, since I had only worked out some of the dialogue til today.)
It's sort of a flashback ca. the Bates/Cockrum era, using the TMK continuity. Brin, Ayla, Garth and Imra are on vacation on Winath, at the Ranzz family farm and the guys are camping out.
********
The campfire was a welcome source of warmth against the cooling Winathian evening. For Garth, the fire was a nostalgic reminder of the days when he and Ayla frequently camped out on the Ranzz family farmstead. Sometimes Mekt joined them, but not often. For Brin, the fire was a strange sight. On Zuun the few native trees which remained were scarce and the idea of burning them would have struck Brin as sacrilegious. His mother had tried hard to change things but people like his father had turned a deaf ear.
Garth turned to the quiet young man. “Brin, it’s funny. You’ve been with my sister for a while now, but we’ve never really gotten to be friends. I guess now I wish I had.” Brin mirrored Garth’s movement, facing him over the fire. “Really? We just travel in different crowds. No big deal. That’s how the Legion is.” Garth’s face registered some surprise. “What do you mean? We’re all on the same team, right?”
Brin showed a small smile at Garth’s slight naiveté. “Yeah, but face it. Your part of the A-list. Me, I don’t want the spotlight like that.” Garth looked a little hurt. “Grife, it’s not like I’m Dream Girl or something. I don’t go looking for glory.” Brin’s smile broadened. “No, you just wear it well. Nothing to be ashamed of.”
Garth relaxed, feeling pleased at his teammates compliment. There was a pause, the quiet punctuated by the crackling of the fire. After the moment paused, Garth reflected, “Well, it’s not like we don’t have anything in common.” Brin’s eyebrow arched slightly. “What do you mean?”
Garth pondered. “Well, we’re both orphans now. We both love the outdoors. We, uh…” Brin gave a slight laugh and added, “Huh. We both “died” too.” Garth chuckled at the thought, both serious yet ridiculous. “Yeah, that too. Of course, I really was dead.” “Don’t rub it in!” Brin replied, then added more seriously, “What was it like for you when you came back?”
Garth stared off into the distance. “It was weird. I didn’t remember things from before very well unless I thought really hard. Imra helped me out a lot with it. Dating a telepath has its rewards. We really got a lot closer when I came back. It’s like I had to die to get her to let me past her guard. Everyone made such a big deal when I came back. No one on the team had died before that. Plus, you know, Ayla had joined while I was “gone.” It helped having her around too. Separation is hard on Winathians, and we’d been apart for a long time. I guess in a funny way, things were better for me after I’d died. What about you?”
Brin grimaced. “I don’t know. Everyone was glad I was back I guess. But then having that sprock Tyr mess with my head. Making me try to assassinate the President. It made me so mad, you know. I’m sick of being manipulated like that.” Garth felt a pang of sympathy, remembering how he’d been similarly used by Lars Hanscom. Something else the two young men had in common. Brin continued, “I guess I feel more on the outside than I did before. Even with Ayla, things seem different now.” Garth now turned back to face him. “What do you mean?”
A sigh escaped from Brin. He was not particularly used to these kinds of conversations, much less with someone who he had never really been friends with. “When we’re apart, I worry. Like she’ll never come back to me. And when we’re together it’s not much better. It’s like she’s trying too hard to please me. Like she’s making up for something.” Brin paused, swallowed nervously. “Garth, let me ask you. When I was gone, was there anyone else?”
Garth put his hands up in protest. “No, no, there was nothing like that that I know of. She spent a lot of the time with Imra and me, that’s about all. She was worried sick at first. Then when it looked like you didn’t make it… it was pretty bad going. We did what we could for her of course.”
Brin could not keep the obvious look of relief from his face. “I’m glad. I didn’t really think so, but you know…” Garth reached across, put his hand on Brin’s shoulder in a gesture of reassurance. “I don’t think you need to worry about Ayla. You’re the only one that she loves.”
Brin sat up straighter, feeling apprehensive after his uncharacteristic show of vulnerability. The conversation lapsed once again. He stood up. “The fire’s getting low. I think I’ll go find some more wood. I’ll be back.” As he walked away from the clearing, he stopped and turned. “Thanks Garth.” From where he sat, Garth couldn’t quite make out Brin’s expression, but he figured he could guess it. He knew that he would honor Brin’s confidences, staring into the fire and thinking about Brin. He certainly wouldn’t be able to only think of him as his sister’s boyfriend anymore.

I'm a Legion Fan, first and foremost (otherwise this'd be X-Mansion.net ), so of course Brin wins. He came first afterall. The real Wolverine is a member of the Strangers and an enemy of Outsider (and future Legionnaire) Nightcrawler, in my universe at least.

And to make a quick addition:
"The Two Paths of Brin"
Walking alone gives him no fear His company, he's not always willing to share He goes his own way, that much is clear He walks alone as the Lone Wolf Legionnaire
Although he comes across as distant and cold He's proven he's loyal, courageous and bold As a teammate he's there through thick and thin Lone Wolf he may be, but a true friend is Brin
Two paths he walks, as hard as that may be But those paths are his own; he makes his own desiny

Posted by Harbinger on :
There are so many great peices on show here, fab art, poignant stories, comedy, tragedy and the deepest respect for everyone's favourite feral legionnarie.
And it's great!
And I keep thinking I've yet to add to it!
And everytime I've looked in here there's been more and more on display. Reminding me that I've still to write something for here.
And I have still to rustle up something for it!
But that's not the whole story.
And if there's one thing I like it's a long story!
There's this idea rattling around in my head about writing a peice about Brin's withdrawal symptoms and how Alya helped, but it's too mushy for me, lots of "lightening the weight from his shoulders" type of comments you know. Pretty obvious stuff really. I started it and couldn't face it the second night. The opening line was "Alya had learned to hide her emotions at times like these as, like all animals Brin could smell it on her!"
Tosh!
Another idea I had was that an ex-girlfriend turns up and discusses his sex life with Alya - they'd compare notes and I was left with either he's always been an animal in bed or he was a totally dull lover before and now he's a wild thang I was going to use lots of wolf imagery, howling at the moon was the title I had planned on.
There ws a third choice but it was my least favourite. It was going to be an action peice were brin rescued the damsel in distress by manfully defeating the robot guard, facing an Indianna Jones type puzzle cave and deciding to just go for it and charge on ahead. And after rescuing the girl he'd leave with only a chaste kiss as his heros reward.
Anyone who knows me knows that'll never happen.
It would have to be a full on tongues, wandering hands, ripping bodices and leotards type ending. And I couldn't bring myself to do that. I didn't want to write that about poor Brin Londo. Not Fuzzball. And that was the problem you see, the first two are about pre-boot Brin, I really like him! The last story is about the new Brin and while he's alright it isn't the character I cared for.
And whilst on the current booted Brin - "think fast!" as a catch phrase? Oh dear god please punish the writers now with plague and hailstones please!!
So in the end there's nothing from me but these ideas. Not as great as the effort and skill on display from everyone else but I did try.
and no-one else has, I believe, in the illustrious history of Legion World entered an essay on "Why The Work Ain't Been Done" as a peice for the gallery.
hope you enjoyed it! Bxx
<grade D - must try harder!>

With Twilight out, I guess Brin is in a great place for finding beautiful shots of 'him'.
If I were designing a look for Brin, I'd keep it super simple, sleeveless and denim/shirt like. I'd also give him a short beard rather than Throm (especially with Star Boy's head and face cover!) Acturally, I looked at his currant look and it's very similar to the way I see him, so I just went with that when I up-graded the image.
His symbol is on the belt and I liked it so much that I left it there when I added his wolf symbol to his shirt.
This was labeled 'Ryan from TW'.

I don't know if I like the symbol on the belt AND the shirt personally, but I love the white tanktop with the wolf that is actually colored like a real wolf (how novel, LOL)
I agree that Brin's costume is one that works loads better with no sleeves, and I like the goatee/beard idea as well.
I think his current costume is WAY too busy with too many conflicting elements, but I don't think it would take too much tweaking to make it workable either...
Posted by Candle on :
I think the wolf emblem on the Red TW is more realistic, wolf wise, than the gray version and I like it a lot better. sigh
I've thought of removing the emblem on the shirt altogether and just having a flat color with maybe a Legion emblem on the shoulder.
I'd give him a leather jacket, too, even though leather jackets have been done before, lots. I'd make them part of the Legion 'look', in general, or something like them. It's hard because X-Men used them in their movies. Anyway, thanks for the comments, even the ribs.
And maybe, I'll try another upgrade!
