I can't believe I'm doing this. But since I mentioned it earlier, I thought I should come through with the goods.
Disclaimer: This was done in a Silver Ageish style back in 1989 when I was 17. Some of these are from scans of photocopies. So, sorry for the poor quality. Please ignore the lack of perspective, anatomy, panel placement, etc. from the art. I should have known better even at that age. I have no idea why I was obsessed with butts , or having lines in people's faces.
Also, sorry for the load times. I tried to get the sizes as low as possible.

Thanks. I still draw. I just did a picture of Ultimate Storm for my Nephew. I really need to clean off my drawing desk and draw more regularly though. It's a great relaxer.

Inventive and witty, amigo! You put character intros and a decent plot across with clarity in 12 pages, what used to be about a half-a-book. (More material than a "backup story," which was shorter.) Your story sense would put many professionals to shame.
And the art is no slouch, especially with your not doing this for a living, nor with its not (apparently) being fully inked with background textures. Being beset with butts didn't get in Coipel's way, either.
You mentioned this piece to me many months ago, and I was wondering when we would finally see it. Don't be this shy about other works, please!
Oh, and Greybird and Greatfire were noted in Dawnstar's write-up in "Who's Who in the LSH" 1, April 1988. (Their only mention in official print other than summaries about her.) So Gary had that name already.
I like how you portrayed "me" at, what, 12 or 13? Younger? Handsome indeed, yet would have relished a tad more dialogue than "ow" Posted by Nightcrawler on :

Would you give us a cast codename-and-realname roster for this group "shot"? Some of the lettering in the original story ended up not being fully legible.

Sure.
Greybird of Starhaven, of course. To his right is Nitro Boy (a name I made up) the applicant from LSH vol.3 #14. Below him is Compu-Lass, Danielle Foccart (Invisible Kid's sister, later became the Legionnaire Computo in vol.4). Next to her is Visi-Lad, an Academy mainstay. To his left is Marvel Lad (A young Daxamite who has taken Mon-El's temporary name and costume). Above him is the Bouncing Boy of that era. Then there's Aqua Girl of Talok VIII (She appeared in LSH vol.3 #54 with no name or powers given). And lastly, below her is Digesti-Boy, my name for Renkil Kem of Bismol, Matter-Eater Lad's brother.

Hey -- great stuff Gary! The pages you did when you were 17 were pretty tight and detailed. The storytelling was pretty clear as well. Your biggest area of improvement there was a better developed sense of anatomy, which you've certainly improved based on the new drawing. Good for you for clearing off that drawing table!
