I hesitated to post this here, because it's not quite on topic, but it fits so well, so bear with me.

November is National Novel Writing Month. It's a challenge to write a novel of 50,000 words, starting on November 1 and ending on November 30. Since so many of you love to write, I thought you would like to know about this.

The website is www.nanowrimo.org It costs nothing to register, but a $10 donation is appreciated. (I have no connection with this website, other than having been a participant last year and this year.) BTW, get the t-shirt ($14 or something like that - it makes you very cool). Oh, and there are participants from all over the world. You can write your novel in any language, and fan-fic is considered a novel.

Check it out if you think you're up to the challenge. I think many of you are.

I heard about this -- a friend of mine is doing it. So can we submit one of our round-robin thread stories? It makes about as much sense as "Ulysses" [Wink]

50,000 words? I have trouble keeping up with this forum, can't imagine sitting down to write that much, at least not anything cohesive! What did you write about last year Semi? Are you doing this again?

I did it last year, but I didn't finish. This year I am determined to finish. Last year I wrote about a self-absorbed neat freak lawyer whose world is turned upside down when he gets fired. He can no longer afford his mortgage and becomes homeless. He is befriended by a delusional homeless man who had attacked him the month before. (That was the basic premise - and no, it was not autobiographical. I based the lawyer on a partner at a firm that I used to work at. The bit about being attacked by the delusional homeless man - that really did happen to me, right outside the building that houses our offices.)

I have not decided the plot of this year's attempt. The only rule is that it cannot be anything that you've already started writing.

With some of the stuff I'm writing lately, it's a good chance I'll need more than a support group. Professional Help maybe?
