Yera's back on the Lost covers, but still no Gates. Hmm...
So Dragonwing is firmly established to be from China. I look forward to seeing China in the 30th century, like how we see Jacques' home in Africa (Cote d'Iviore, I think?) under Levitz. Speaking of, Jacques really needs a spotlight soon!

China as a political entity has been around for centuries so I can see it still being a place in a thousand years, unlike the Cote D'Ivoire, which is a colonial name (Ivory Coast in English) that is well past its sell by date even now.
Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :
Not sure what you mean by that, SAL. Cote d'Iviore is the name the country itself chose to be called even now.
I don't know if Levitz meant for it to still exist as a political entity in the 30th century, or it if was called as such in the actual comic - I'm just going by what I read online here: http://www.cosmicteams.com/legion/profiles/InvisibleKidJacques.html. Posted by Blacula on :
Why do colourists constantly get Jo's symbol wrong? It can't be that hard to remember that it's meant to be green.
Nice Batista cover otherwise. Love Vi and Cham's costume updates.
Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :
I also just noticed that Dawnstar seems to be wingless on the Legion Lost cover. For that matter, Yera seems to be bald!
Posted by Set on :
Love seeing Violet in the old black and green Cockrum design!
Posted by Candlelight on :
It's sort of the green and purple outfit combined, imo. Which I like.
I don't see Tellus on the LOST cover, either, or am I just missing him?
Posted by Exnihil on :
In between Dawny and Yera. He sort of blends in with the rubble if you look quick.
Posted by Quislet, Esq on :
The missing wings are a mistake that will hopefully be corrected before the issue comes out.
IB, Yera was originally drawn as bald like Chameleon Boy is bald. I prefer her bald to the hair on her.

but does that Legion Lost #6 remind you of another Legion cover...kind of ...sort of...well you know? I am talking about Legion of Super Heroes first Baxter edition #1 where Wildfire, Dawnstar, Blok, Timber Wolf bursting out of the wall (tearing apart the wall) drawn by Keith Giffen? am I misremembering?

There was an interview somewhere (and sorry, can't for the life of me remember where) that said that the picture was rushed, that only part of it was inked before it was scanned, that the penciled-but-not-yet-inked parts didn't show up on the scan and that there was another missing part that would appear on the finished cover. I know that on the DC boards the various guesses to what was missing besides Dawny's wings that would be added were: Gates, Yera's hair and the Logo. In that order.

Seeing that Secret Origin cover really makes me miss that look Vi had there. Thats a costume they should bring back in some form in the currnet series. Her current one is just blah.

Thanks, Quis, I remember that as well. It just seems odd, since in the Retroboot she's ALWAYS been depicted with hair, that I can remember.

Thanks, NLL! I'm really hoping "Gates" is the correct answer, and they just didn't want to spoil his return.

Seeing bald Yera again makes me happy, even if it was an art/ink/coloring mistake.
(And we still need a Yera smilie!) Posted by Cobalt Kid on :
The LSH / Star Trek crossover (in the IDW solicitations) has an amazing cover by Mike Allred!

And one can hope she will stay that way for a while. I am personnally hoping for Gates to be the 'missing piece' and pretty much convinced that the Logo is what will be added. Of the 3 possibilities, I think Yera's hair would be the longshot. Looking at the picture: There is space for Dawny's wings. The Logo could be (and probably usually is) just imposed on the image after the picture is completed. There is even space for Gates (if he is somewhat changed, that space beside Yera's thigh could be his head... or Tellus' knee cap). There seems to be no place to put Yera's hair if it really is a case of a finished pencilled but not inked picture though.

She's a freaking SHAPESHIFTER, people... she can have hair whenever she wants it! NOT a big deal!
Posted by LASHbrain on :
I like her with the hair myself.
Posted by Pov on :
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about her having hair! I just have a softspot for the bald, tiny-antennae Lightle Yera My prior post came out crankier than I meant on account of a bad post-Strep earache/infection? ... :@#$%@#$:
Posted by Invisible Brainiac on :
aww Pov! We'll forgive you if you put on some pants. Get well soon
I prefer Yera with the hair myself. I dunno, she just looks better to me with it.
That said, let us focus on the bigger missing piece - GATES! I agree with NLL, there is enough space to sneak Gates in there!

Precisely. No matter which side of the follicle debate you fall on, the 'what is going to be added to the cover' issue is the more important question.
Posted by NoLongerLegion on :
Just noticed Yera's scaly clawed right hand.
Posted by Candlelight on :
Well, the wings are kind of a given, as is the Logo posted on top, I think. Yera's head is highlighted, so I don't think she's going to get hair, and I like her with hair, but bald is okay.
I couldn't find a place to insert Gates but then, I couldn't find Tellus until Ex pointed him out, thank-you very much. sigh
BUT, NLL gave me some hope, !
Get well soon, POV! I hate earaches . Here, I'm sending and your way to help. I hope.

I kind of like the new look, but on a scale of 1 to 10, the Cockrum design is about 11 times better!
Posted by KryptonKid on :
I've kinda just assumed Yera anthropomorphized hair to further her acting career. All the other Legion females have hair (even Sneckie got hair eventually). Lose the hair, says I, and embrace the Legion tenet of strength through diversity.
Let it shine!

I think ChamGirl is sporting a big claw instead of a right hand. Of course, they could still stick Gates' head there or in front of superfluous ruble or anywhere else they sprockin' please.
Posted by superboymddjr on :
surprised that there is no March solicitation out now since I saw two legion covers in DC blog. One Legionnaire may die due to the cover showing the hand with a Legion flight ring melting down rolling down the finger/hand. Sun Boy? Element Lad? or Chemical Kid?
and Dawnstar's wings may be ripped off as the Legion Lost will spotlight on her. sigh.

Gates is a teleporter, anyway. All they need to do is fit in his head and pencil in a teleport gate underneath.

I think it was just a penciling error, so don't worry about the loss of wings

It is a mystery how much punishment a Flight Ring can take.
We've seen Superboy, Mon-El and Ultra Boy unleash some world-shaking punches with their ring hands, without their Flight Rings shattering into a billion pieces, but it's not clear if their invulnerability extends to the ring (as a function of their power, similar to Byrne's explanation of how Superman's 'aura' protected his skintight costume, but not his cape), or the ring is somehow 'in tune' with their powers (so that it grows with Colossal Boy, shrinks with Violet, shapechanges with Chameleon Boy, resists being fried by Sun Boy or Lightning Lasses energy discharges, or triplicates with Triplicate Girl), like the 'Unstable Molecules' plot devices used over at Marvel.
I'd imagine that Element Lad could *deliberately* destroy his own Flight Ring, but most other Legionnaires seem to be able to use their powers full-force without their rings melting or electrically disrupting or being pounded into thin gruel.
Posted by razsolo on :
hmmmmm....maybe Brainy has incorporated some of the forcefield technology into the flight rings? Just enough to protect the rings themselves? Let's say it would use too many resources to have enough forcefields for everyone for more than just that one tiny bit of equipment.
....doesn't even need to be anything the rest of the team are even aware of unless they have asked about it. I can't see Timber Wolf or Garth or Ayla caring that much how they work as long as they work...
Posted by jimgallagher on :
Maybe they're coated in inertron.
Can't really buy Cham's ring changing shape when he does, but he could easily just absorb it into his body temporarily.
Posted by jimgallagher on :
Dawnstar has to have her wings or she can't fly. Their rings aren't working.
Posted by superboymddjr on :
ah....see the Legion Lost #8 cover....its out now in DC Blog - Gates is ALIVE!!!! can see his face on the reflection of the Ravager Rose Wilson's sword edge. but no Cham Girl?
