Tyroc, or... a female character called Scream Queen? Only difference between the two characters would have been their sex. Otherwise, the exact same thing.
Just think a female character named Scream Queen that could do the same things would have been a very cool twist on the "helpless female that screams in movies" and instead uses the power of the scream.

I wonder how a hero who has to maintain a secret identity would go over in the LSH?
Sensor Girl sort of has or had one, but all of that never really came up as in-story material, did it?
Hmmm. For about half a minute Element Lad's power and background was supposed to be secret, but again, that never really was grist for the story mill.
What do you think of the prospect of a hero with a secret identity becoming a Legionnaire?
OR- a nickname for the next gal to attach herself to one of the single Legionnaires... the running gag- a different Legionnaire has to resuce 'Scream Queen' from the villain-of-the-week each issue.

OK, here are my theories. 1) Imagine if one of Tyroc's specialized screams turned the bad guy into a screaming little girl!
2) Tyroc is secretly a drag queen.
He hides this fact behind the facade that noone would think to connect "scream" and "queen" together and therefor expose him for the true, SCREAMING FLAMING DRAG QUEEN THAT HE REALLY IS!!!!!
There you have it. My thoughts on the subject.
P.S. 3) Tyroc is really a woman.

Ummm. Most of the drag queens I've seen tried to look like women. Ummmm. Tyroc looks awfully male most of the time, especially in that Grell costume.
Silver Banshee was shown to have had male predecessors who shared a version of her costume, a VERY close version. SHE might be a Scream Queen version of them.

Was Grell gay or straight? HE's the one who dressed them, after all.
Grimbor, Rokk, Gim and Tyrok as a band? That's a fascinating idea. Add Laurel Kent and Lydda as the lesbian back-up singers. Call them 'the Screaming Grellsters'.
