ah...Perez is still a cover GOD!!!!!! whoa. I am so glad that I have Legacies on my hold slot. [Smile]

That Legacies shot sure calls up the nostalgia. Nightwing and Captain Atom in their original costumes, dead or forgotten heroes like Sargon the Sorcerer, Jericho and Air-Wave, in action again. Neat.

The Legion cover is interesting. Earth-Man definitely doesn't seem to be wearing a green power ring, and gosh, as if it isn't enough that he's got to work alongside green Coluans and blue Talokkians, Tellus is right there on the cover! (Suggesting that the team in 20th century may actually start appearing again.)

I wonder, as a bit of a xenophobe, would Earth-Man find non-humanoids like Tellus more or less problematic than humanoids? If I were a racist, I'd feel most troubled by aliens who look entirely human, like Braalians and Titanians, and less worried about obvious aliens like Tellus...

YAY! A group shot!

My word. Absorbancy Boy sure has come a long way since the days of having to swipe the Legionnaires' socks and whatnot.

I love that the Legion is featured so prominately on the Legacies cover.

I could stare at that George Perez cover for hours!

That would be nice if that were the back of a wraparound cover - because the "Legacies" logo and cover info is going to mess that image up something awful.

Who is that alien monster thing behind Superboy on the Adventure cover?

Posted by superboymddjr on :

thats Doomsday.

Posted by Jerry on :

It is? Hmm. Thanks.

That just about HASTA be a wraparound...

I thought it was seven for a second there, and that the dude flying above/behind Jericho's head and below Donna's arm might be Sun Boy, but I think it's actually Johnny Quick...

Edit, I missed Thom on the first pass, post edited.

Legion #5 looks good (love Cinar's art as usual), but did they have to go and put that loser at the very front of the group shot? As if he was their leader or something.
Oh well, maybe Absorbancy Boy finally will bite it this month.

Posted by Blacula on :

Nice group shot on LoSH #5. Shame Earth Man doesn't have his back to us to make it look like the team are all gunning for him though - as the solits seem to hint at. Glad it seems like someone other than Earth Man will be becoming the 31st Century Green Lantern at least.

The Legacies #5 cover - [Love] . God, George Perez is incredible. It would be fantastic if that cover was a wrap-around wouldn't it? Once upon a time it would have been. Shame comic companies use every opportunity they can to milk the fans of extra money these days. Notice how that issue ships with two covers? Guess what the other one's going to be of.

Does it also seem weird to anyone else that DC is only halfway through cataloguing its history and it's already reached Crisis? So half of DC's history is post-that? Really? We're not gonna get an issue dedicated to drek like Infinite Crisis or something are we?

Adventure Comics - Did Scott Clark think he was drawing Titano until moments before he had to send that cover in? Still, I kinda like the new look he's given Doomsday here.

Wow, the Legacies cover might just be the best comic book cover in YEARS. Just incredible!!

Also, best Legion cover so far! Possible other Green Lantern? Step forward, Harmonia Li!! She'd be perfect!

Dynamic Superboy image. Art is perhaps rougher than I usually like but I like the idea of it.

I really don't like the rendition of Tellus on the Legion cover. Otherwise, looks pretty good, though it's mostly the same old characters.

Full solicits for the month are now up. There are a few collections that might be of interest.

And now we're updated.

I might just have to get that GDS hardcover! Gonna be hard to resist with so many more issues included (even though I own them all!) I assume the quality of the printing will be superior?

Is it me or does the cover look like a newer version of the old GDS trade's cover? Or is it the exact same?

Glad I already bought mine two years ago.

Is there any chance of talking the DC powers that be into NOT putting Darksied on the cover of the Great Darkness Saga HC?

Posted by Chief Taylor on :

Yeah, goog, it's definitely a different experience reading it originally when it came out serialized than it is in TP/HC form, eh? Kinda takes all the mystery out!

WOW Cobalt Kid, that IS perfect! Harmonia Li as the new GL would be a great choice as an excellent way to keep this new, interesting supporting character around for a long time to come.
I like it! [Smile]

Oh and DITTO what everybody else has said so far regarding the Perez cover of DCUL #5 .... absolutely gorgeous.

George continues to out-do himself with every new project he's given lately. There's just no slowing down for this living legend!

I sort of hope that they come up with a new cover image. I like that cover by Giffen, but I already have it on the TP. Be nice to get something new.

Part of me wishes this could be an Absolute, but then, I'm not sure I'll have the money to buy an Absolute anything that month and I'd rather the book be more accessible to people. Still, how cool would it be to see that story Absolute-ized!

Posted by Chief Taylor on :

Yeah, it kinda pisses me off how TPB and HC collections rarely seem to spring to get an artist to create a new cover for them anymore! It used to be common practice, but at some point the Bigs decided they couldn't shell out for a new creation. Don't get me wrong--there are many great existing covers out there that look good on a collection, but 9 times out of 10, I'd rather see something new.

If they're using the same Giffen cover (which was original for the TPB, though based on 294's design) here, it makes even less sense here because of the difference inside and the inclusion of all of Paul's issues leading up to it and a couple after it. Maybe they'll surprise us? After all they advertized the Legion of Three Worlds HC with the Saturn Girl cover.... [shrug]

According to George Perez Fan Base in Facebook, he said that there will be a 2nd part of the Crisis on the cover of the DC Legacies (#6) which will feature Batman and Wonder Woman (I am hoping to see Dawnstar and Wildfire!!!! *finger crossing* ....wowza!

Posted by Blacula on :

So Crisis will be getting two issues of Legacies? Strange, but very welcome, if so.

Posted by future king on :

Yes, Dawnstar and Wildfire should be there for sure, but also I would like to see everyone else who didn't make it onto the first cover. That would round out the Legion roster nicely and also give all of the exposure to new, potential fans. Plus this would help promote both the new Legion and Adventure books.

Posted by Superboy-Supergirl on :

the original Supergirl-Kara Zor-EL should be on that 2nd cover too.

Posted by Chemical King on :

Anyone got an idea if there's any Legion beyond Superboy in Adventure? Cutting down expenses (damn Euro crisis!), I don't care that much for a Superboy solo story...

As for Legacies, that series definitely is worth its money, I loved the first two issues. Len Wein does a great job as a storyteller. This could be a little bit like the "Marvels" of the DCU... great artwork too. And now a Perez crisis cover? Oh man this is perfect [Smile]

whoa there is one more thing to add for the Sept solicitations...

Cosmic Boy will be #67 for DC Superhero Figurine Collector's Magazine after Black Lightning....I am definitely going to collect that!!!!! it costs $11.20. that's it. I have seen some cool Figurine at some comics book store...and the prices are outrageous. so better buy it online. I will be ordering it through Westfield Comics.

Wow, that looks nice! How did I miss this little tidbit?
Did that issue of ICONS with the Legion story come out yet, and if so which issue was it?
I would definately like to add that to my ever-expanding collection. [Smile]

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

ICONS came out today. I don't know what I expected by the "10 page original Legion story by Lee and Levitz," but somehow this wasn't it. I would have liked more Legion. Only AR collectors should pay the $40 fee to read the story.

Also, looks like Lee is like Ross and loves the 70's version of the team.

Posted by superboymddjr on :

so how many pages did Lee in Icons?

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

It's a 10 page story, but mostly splashes and only a few feature Legionnaires.

Cool, now if Levitz could get Ross on covers and Lee on interiors monthly in those costumes, I'm sure the Legion would be the best selling book for DC again!

Using the pic of PG and the earlier SG variant as samples:

I get that people like Lee, but I don't understand why every woman he draws has to be forever practicing some bleakly generic Vargas/Cosmo Girl pose/expression. Like they have no personality of their own. It's irritating.
