Pulsar Stargrave was retconned from Brainiac 1 to the surviving Computer Tyrants of Colu in the old L.E.G.I.O.N. series. IIRC, when last seen, he had managed to get himself appointed Planetary Champion of Talok VII.

Yes but that was pre-infinite crisis...and Brainiac was then Vrill's dad...now he's not anymore. I dont think...

If you don't like Brainiac's origin/place in continuity, then just wait five issues, and it'll change again.

As far as Pulsar Stargrave bring the mother of Brainiac 5.1, did we ever see that on-panel, or was that just a "clever" after-thought?
