We always talk about them. John Censullo compiled a checklist of them in his Legion Outpost II electronic mags (in Special #1). Most of them consist of just a cover appearance, single panel or even just a t-shirt reference on a number of occasions.
I thought I would start a thread where we can share some of those one-shot panel appearances. To start, here is one from Hell and Back: A Sin City Love Story. Just a one panel appearance (page 8 of issue #7) by two Legionnaires:

I'll pass on looking for that Spidey, but that STATIC's a must-find, and I'm pretty sure I have that IRON MAN... I think that was part of the Kree/Shiar War event in the Avengers-related books. I bought the whole thing for the Imperial Guard appearances... I was so gullible then.

I'm sure I already have the Spidey but I know I don't have the Static as I never picked up that book. And the Iron Man was during the Galatic Storm that ran through the Avengers books. It was part six IIRC.

I don't know if this belongs on this thread as it dosen't really count as an appearance, but I thought it was woth mentioning somewhere...
As I was checking in books at the library I volunteer at, I came across a book called "The DC Comics Guide to Writting Comics".
As I always do when I find a new comics-related book, I checked the index for "Legion of Super-Heroes" and found a section of the book talking about the "Levitz Grid" in the chapter describing how to juggle various subplots. The book used Levitz's run on the Baxter series as an example as to how to handle a multitude of characters and storylines.
Even better, the book also pictured one of Levitz's handwritten "character grids" he used while writting the Legion. The grid was the one he used for issues 22-27 of the Baxter series, and was apparently a way he kept track of character development over the course of multiple issues.
The grid doesn't really tell us anything we didn't already know, but I still thought it was interesting.
I liked how under the "Vi and Ayla" section of the grid Levitz wrote about how the two women discuss how their lives had changed. And I liked that Levitz called Dream Girl "Dreamy" in her section.

I'm a firm believer of the Levitz Grid. I must find this somewhere. Geoff Johns is the only other guy I know can handle all those characters and do a good job.

Hmm, the Kree derivation seems to be an upside-down version of Interlac. (at least in the first panel) I got tired of hanging from the ceiling, but I picked out the words "you should" and I think "swell" and "proud of you" ... can't make out the rest...

Not sure if this qualifies as an AR appearance but Durlans are mentioned in this week's issue of Checkmate (#4).
