Sweet!
Not only did we get to see the LSV in action but there was also a Legion Tryout!
Subs everywhere, Plant Lad, Fire Lad,Infectious Lass, Stoneboy, Polar Boy and a heckuva bunch of others!

I'm not absolutely positive but I think that was Night Girl in a cool black mini skirt, a character that might be Invisible Kid and perhaps Quantum Queen too.

Great episode! I love it that the creators are using the richness and depth of the Legions history to really fill out the universe arouond our hreoic teens.

I can't wait to see this one again!

I agree. Didn't expect to see them, so it was a thrill. Drura looked GREAT!

The Substitutes commercial for next week's episode!

That looks like an absolute blast!!! I can't wait!

Color Kid!

I love the tone of Brainy's voice at the end of that teaser!

YAYAYAY Fat Chlorophyl Kid!

Invisible Kid II took me a moment though. I thought it might be Kid Quantum I at first because of the spikey hair...and I called Chlorophyl Kid "Plant Lad" how embarrassing...sorry..and I forgot to mention Antennae Lad!..and the ad for next week shows even more of the gang.

How cool.

Who was the guy with the miner helmet supposed to be? When Color Kid changed him to all gold, I thought it might've been a Reflecto homage, but his chest said "QK"

Loved the flower exchange between Chlor and Infectious Lass -- cute moment!

Yeah that was priceless. Drura was all happy when he gave it to her but then she went frowny when she picked it up causing it to wilt.

"Quake Kid" perhaps

It would kind of make sense for Quake Kid to wear head protection...

I thought I saw Double-Header in there, too! [Double-Header]

There's an additional preview of the actual try outs at KidsWB

It is also already up here.

say did I see Polecat there? or someone else?

The Mess! Upon second viewing I noticed the Mess was trying out too! He's in the scene of Breath Boy, um, holding his breath!

You mean Blowfish Boy?

I think we may have Alya?!? The flame headed girl with the big white boots, blue uniform and butterfly wing logo ala 'Gossamer' Alya?

I love how lots of them have got personality traits in the few seconds we seen them - Color Kid is theatrical, Porcupine Pete gets nervous, Stone Boy is stoic and calm...

I thought the flame-headed girl might be Comet Queen, but y'never know... (if we're thinking of the same girl - I thought she had a gas cloud type thing on her chest)

Posted by DrakeB3004 on :

And was that skunk-looking guy with the gas halo someone we should've recognized?

Posted by Nightcrawler on :

Polecat. [The Polecat]

And I agree that that was a cartoonified Comet Queen.

Comics Continuum has posted more info on this week episode "The Substitutes":

quote:
"It's that time of year again -- Legion Auditions! This year's crop is hardly promising, with most hopefuls turning out to be comic duds. But when the Legion is overwhelmed fighting a mysterious foe in Earth's upper atmosphere, a group of rejects takes it upon themselves to save the world below... with outrageous results."

"This one might be a fan-favorite," Legion producer James Tucker told The Continuum. "There was a Substitutes annual that Keith Giffen did that was just off-the-wall and totally different. And that's where the Substitutes were really first presented as really bizarre. We took a lot of cues from that one.

"Itıs a fun episode. Itıs got a lot of cameos in it, from other Legionnaires, not just the Subs. And two Legionnaires join the team."

Lots of screen caps too.

I'll guess Matter Eater Lad and Ultra Boy!

Tenz was a star of the Subs Special that's being referenced as source material, so I'm guessing he might end up with them.

I would also guess that Ultra Boy will be joining, however.

We saw Invisible Kid as well. He has a good chance of making it onto the main team.

Well, the symbols of all three show up in the opening credits. We actually see Matter-Eater Lad in the flesh in the credits, but I don't remember off-hand if we see Ultra Boy.

10 more hours to go!!! can't wait tmw!! I am tickled pink (or "colorkid") [Big Grin]

7 more hours for me! I better get some shut eye!

Tenz and Star Boy!

My favorite few seconds of the whole episode though was seeing Blok and Tyroc.

Long Live the Legion!

I missed Polar Boy, but Drura was kinda adorable.

It was great to get at least snippets of all these characters. Tyroc, Blok, Double-Header! As well as the subs. I really didn't miss Night Gil and Fire Lad so much since Infectious Lass and Porcupine Pete are definitely better for some laffs. I want more! Honestly the core group bores me a little bit. At least next week we'll get Cosmic Boy!

I'm kind of thinking that we'll probably get at least one tryout/Subs episode per seasons, which seems really groovy to me!
