Just got a piece of news from C2E2 that has me worried. Apparently in a DC Panel, Dan Didio made an off-hand comment to the effect that Adventure Comics will "probably" shift to a Showcase-style format spotlighting characters from Brightest Day that aren't strong enough to carry their own ongoing titles. Considering that the new Levitz-Jimenez Legion Academy stories have only just gotten underway, it sounds like DC has already decided to pull the plug on them.

Yeah, the updated solicit implies the Legion Academy story is finishing in Adventure too. Can we hope for an ongoing series spin-off?

Don't I remember Phil saying that he and Levitz had all these great ideas for Legion Academy stories that they were hoping to tell? I distinctly remember one was like a murder mystery in space or something. What happened to all of them? They MUST appear somewhere!

if they do that, biggest mistake they ever make!
can someone contact either Phil or Paul thru facebook or can we write a letter to ask them to give Legion Academy a chance like the people are doing with doom patrol?

say will someone go to C2E2 or Wonder Con to speak up to Dan on DC Panel? I unfortunately cannot go there since I ill be on business trip to the East....so if any one of you happen to be there, please take my message to Dan:
"although I love reading Adventure Comics and the Legion Academy's the main reason why I buy it. if you decide to kick the Academy off the Adv Comics, then where will they go? it is a big mistake if you do that, and I will not buy Adv Comics anymore!"

If true, this is a major bummer... it definitely is one of DC's best books -- Jimenez is doing some of his finest work... I'm surprised Didio isn't making it a showcase for characters from "Flashpoint"...

To be fair, Didio gave mixed signals about Adventure back in San Diego as well, and we still got the Academy stuff. Since it actually posted a sales gain (one of the few line-wide), it should be safe (even Didio won't turn down money). Now, whether they move Academy to their own book is another.

Dear Dan Didio,
You can make every book ever into some kind of BN tie-in, but I've never been interested in BN and more attempted force-feeding isn't likely to change that.
Thank for nothing, Dude.

While I'm not much of a fan of Levitz's writing, this is probably the better of the two books. I'd gladly give the Adventure title up however, for just one really good Legion book. Sadly, DC doesn't seem to be all that interested interested in making really good comics these days.

I think its just that the subs is a much easier canvas to paint on. There isn't a lot of background to work in, its fresher than the accumulated 50+ years of backstory of the regular legion, and it can afford to do some smaller stories.

I thought this was always the plan. I do not have the interview to hand but I seem to recall when the Academy stories where first announced they were only going to be in Adventure for awhile before spinning off to (I believe) their own book.
