Of the current Shooter-penned LSH, that is.

Or is it?

Who do you think is being referenced in LEGION OF THREE WORLD #2?

Posted by Mystery Lad on :

The more literal choices would be Light Lass (though she was standing right there!), and Sun Boy, whose been abscent so much, it'd be a stretch to call him the 'anything' of the LSH.

Does Dream Girl mean light as in inspirational? As in Cosmic Boy? One of the other founders?

Does she mean light as in sunny disposition and morale boosting? Not sure who'd fill that bill in this crew.

Could it be that she's dreamed of another Legion's 'light'?

My first thought was that she was talking about Rond Vidar. My second thought was Sun Boy, and my third was that she was just talking about the Legion in general facing hard times.

I 'd go with choice number 3, Matthew.

Me, too. It's obvious from the context that she "sensed" the Legion about to face their greatest challenge-- and the Legion not making it out of it intact.

I bet she's referring to Sun Boy. He's being all pouty and burnt out and I've lost my passion, wah wah wah. Sounds like a set up for him being the next sacrificial lamb to me. The Legion has a long history of Legionnaires having a personal crisis and feelings of low self worth right before they prove themselves, while getting the axe.

I'm betting he somehow regains his powers and self-confidence just in time to go down in a blaze of glory, sacrificing himself for the good of all.

i wasn't sure if she meant sun boy or the loss they'd already suffered with brande...

I think they're foreshadowing.

Sun Boy? Could be... but I'm still sure that comment about the Legion's light going out refered to the Superboy-Prime/Legion(s) war.

And, yes, I think they're foreshadding too. I mean, could they possibly less subtle? "...the light of the Legion was going to die"??

Like I wasn't exited enough about this serie enough?

Brande is a good guess, I think.

Along the same lines as Matthew E's more philosophical idea, maybe it's the dropping of the 'no-killing' rule?

Although the Waid LSH never adopted that one, did they?

I'm actually having a hard time fitting this line in with the Waid LSH.

Unless- what if it's Star Boy?

Light Lass's "light" is an adjective, not a noun. It takes a noun to die, or burn out or fade out or whatever. Adjectives don't do anything but describe nouns.

If it's not Sun Boy, then I think it's a symbolic light. i.e., the Legion is headed for dark days. It could refer to the UP disavowing the Legion. Heck it coul refer to the Legion's latest cancellation/reboot.

The 'Green Lantern light' maybe? i.e. Rond. That's what I thought anyway.

I doubt it'll be Dirk though. Geoff's said that he's one of his faves and he'll be getting some spotlight soon.

According to Schoolhouse Rock:

Adjectives are words you use to really describe things,
Adjectives are often used to help us compare things,

So: Next time you go on a trip,
Remember this little tip:
The minute you get back,
They'll ask you this and that,
You can describe people, places and things...
Simply unpack your adjectives.
You can do it with adjectives.
Tell them 'bout it with adjectives.
You can shout it with adjectives.

Thanks for that blast from the past, Quis. I don't really remember that one. I do remember the conjunction junction one though.

Geoff Johns re-introduced Rainbow Girl for a reason surely? I'm sure she will play a part in Lo3W

Or it could be the original, real Superboy.

Let's see. Sun Boy was forced to use his powers to turn Earth's yellow sun to red during the Action arc. Superboy Prime's only real weakness is a red sun (as emphasized by the GL ring in issue 2).

Hmmm....

He seems pretty powerless right now, although that is logical thinking. Man, I hope you're wrong. Despite all his character faults, I've always liked Dirk as a hero.

I agree. He's been down for too long in too many versions now. It seems a little too obvious to make the "bad boy" of the legion the target this long.

'course, i don't understand or like Giffen's intense desire to kill KK all the time, either.

He just has a problem with "Super Karate." As opposed to, say, "dreaming" or "matter-eating" or "bouncing" or someone who splits in two (or three) and otherwise has no real power other than surprise and basic hand to hand combat, or someone/thing who goes "poop-a-doop." (Sorry, no offense Quis.)

I just think he's jealous. I think if we looked way back into KG's past, we'll see a scrawny kid who couldn't hack it in karate class. Or not.

I'll have to get my husband to take me comic buying tonight!

It WOULD be kind of a nice redemption for Sun Boy to die a hero this time
We really haven't seen much of him since the Giffen era.

I could see he AND Rainbow Girl working together somehow to defeat Superboy-Prime.

Just have Color Kid turn the sun red and no more Superboy Prime.

or Dirk again
