Anyone remember that skimpy outfit Night Girl wore way back in 1970-something?

Her emblem was located in the crotch area!

Now then, how would Lydda Jath would look in Nightwing's costume-not the current one! I'm talking about the one Dick Grayson wore after giving up being Robin(the very first one he wore!)How would that yellow fringe look on Night Girl and especially the V-neck?!

If you like, you can imagine Night Girl in the current Nightwing costume!

Isn't Night Girl going nearly naked the equivalent of, say, Iron Man deciding that linen would be good for his next armour, or Brainiac 5 deciding his forcefield was too strong?

I vaguely recall some sort of discussion about this... wait, maybe it was a Laurel Kent discussion... anyway, the point was that if these characters... okay, girls... wear less clothing, it lets the sun, or in Lydda's case, the lack of sun, permeate into their skin and bodies more readily, therefore making them more powerful.

And they look sexy!

That makes potential sense for the solar-powered character - but not for the DARK-powered character.

A character with Night Girl's powerset should wear lightproof full-body armour!

Grell wasn't exactly known for his lightproof full-body armour. Perhaps if it was a different artist back then...

My theory is that Lydda's power actually derives from sort of non-visible radiation in the environment that is somehow cancelled out by the prescence of sunlight (in some comicbook science fashion kind of way). Therefore just blocking the sunlight isn't sufficient, unless she can gain access to the source of her powers.

Unlike Shadow Lass, who was shown, in her first story, blocking strong light with her cape so she could activate her powers.

No doubt Lydda just wore that skimpy costume to attract Cos. If I were to reimagine her in any other superhero costume, I'd probably go for Catwoman's zipped-up leather and goggles look.

Except that that makes her pre- and post-Grell costumes inhibitory for the effective use of her powers. Unless the bouffant "caught" the radiation in some special manner...

I'm just going to bask in my pre-adolescent enjoyment of it, and not worry about the science.

Well, no more so than Superman's.

I like the idea that her powers are really the result of absorbing low-level "black light" radiation in the environment.

There's also kind of precedent in that Hourman used to use black light to trigger his super-strength after he gave up the use of miraclo.

Personally, her current costume works best for me.

I like the latest costume as well. Didn't care for the sexy sub costumes.
