What were their ages? In the annual "Who Killed Laurel Kent" they didn't seem very young.
And then in the post ZH Legion they were parents to Impulse and XS. Impulse I know was aged quickly but was XS as well?

Pre-Crisis, they were the same age as the Silver Age Legionnaires and yes, their super-speed was temporary to honor their ancestor, Barry Allen.
Bart's origin is based on the pre-ZH/5 year later Legion and appears in a text piece. If I remember correctly, he's named "Barry" to honor his (post-Crisis version) grandfather Barry Allen.
Post-ZH, the above origin remained intact (just without the Legion connection as such) and is supposed to happen sometime prior to the founding of the Legion. When XS joined, it was shown that the "Tornado Twins" had died as adults earlier due to Dominator experimentation. Therefore, Don and Dawn Allen were much older than the ZH-Legion and Dawn mothered a daughter the Legionnaires' age.

Nightcrawler is correct. not all ages translated equally; Shvaugn was also significantly older in Reboot (if not as much as the Allens).

So 5YL, when the Tornado Twins die shutting down the Dominator lab, did they give themselves speed again, or was it retconned that they'd always had speed naturally?

Wally's kids were introduced by in Kingdom Come/The Kingdom, weren't they? I don't remember them being called twins though.
They were named after Barry and Iris IIRC.

EDE, I'd always read that as Don was having a moment-of-death fantasy of saving himself and Dawn, as evidenced by the final panel where they're both fried anyway.
The obit/news piece that follows mentions that their speed powers were only temporary.

Apparently Jai is either about to go through a tremendous growth spurt, or he can 'bulk up' at will. And Iris has a truly freaky flying pose on the last page. Or is she running? Not Acuna's best, IMO.

I like the new kids lots! It's like the Fantastic Flash Family.
Anyone else think that Don or Dawn should join the Legion? It would be cool to have Barry's kids on the team. I really liked them in the original story.
