Val's back and man is he kickin' bootie! The Kid's reappearance in the DCU involves a dust up with none other than Batman! Val practically wipes the floor with Bruce's face. (figuratively speaking)

I loved the dialogue between the combatants during the encounter. While I was worried about KK when Batman smacked him pretty well in the JLA comic I finally got to see the rest of the fight in "Countdown 50" and Val was untouchable.(hey, I missed that issue and had to wait for a re-order) Karate Kid hasn't even raised a sweat and Batman is ripped and bruised, not yet beaten but definitely bested ...that is until Black Lightning puts the Legionnaire back to sleep but as Val says, "You cheated" (heh heh) Great scene.

What a ride! Karate Kid hits the scene in his prime and proves that he's DCs undisputed Martial Arts champion! His moment in the sun is dazzling, KK is one of the greats of the Legion of Superheroes and it's about damned time he gets noticed by the rest of the DC Universe.

And it is hard to believe that he is your least favorite Legionnaire, Yellow Kid. [Wink]

I agree. The fight over in Countdown was very gratifying.

Oh yeah. I wanted top do a bit of cllipping from the fight page but I guess that neither Gary or Scott have scanned it yet. Drat!

Still though, I loved seeing KK supremely confident and absolutely in control of the physical fight. I have no problem with the fact that Black Lightning stunned him from behind afterall poor Val had been hypnotized for weeks (maybe months) and I wouldn't expect him to be at his peak ..yet even when NOT fresh for combat he schooled the Bat. Hard to do. Nice work.

not to be a wet blanket, I actually take issue with "nass" meaning "butt." From the context of DnA, when this slang seemed to have the most usage, "nass" seemed to me to refer to feces, not anatomy, based upon the context provided. I don't recall any LSHer using the expression "kick nass" or anything remotely similar.

maybe that's just me.

according to newsrama blub - Karate Kid will be in Countdown and be seeing the Oracle for some reason - Am gonna buy Countdown for his appearance - when I was a kid, I collected all of his series #1 - #15 and thought that his logo stood out as the best design in late 70s. Loved Batman's reaction when he found out that Karate Kid is 3 points level better than him from Superman...heh. "Gonna have talk with Clark..." oh... right. [Smile]

I didn't bother, since you can see it all here.

"Bloody nass" is the most common expression, for what it's worth.

Though, since "kicks sh*t" and "sh*t-kicking" are also legitimate expressions, I don't think it really matters.

Maybe I should've titled this, "Karate Kid kicks Batnass!" ?

I'm just so pleased to see some old Legionnaires that I think the whole crew deserves their own discussion threads.

Why no Wildfire thread from the Drake Burroughs fans?

I'll concede the point, EDE. It's just that "kicking s---" gives me a different visual than "kicking "a--," although "kicking the s--- out of [person X]" works.
