I have a little project in mind and i want to clarify a couple of points, In the reboot with Kinetix and shikari (Is that the archie legion?) I know there was an issue with polar boy being rejected for the legion and work force and hooking up with night girl and talking of setting up there own thing. I also have a vague recoliction of chlorophyll kid at a later try out so my question were any of these characters seen again and if so what happened?

also could somebody please confirm which characters have been shown as a member of the subs in any version?

thanks

Polar Boy meets Night Girl in the tryout issue, as you describe.

They are also seen during the Mordru arc, where they something to the effect that they aren't ready to help the Legionnaires. I don't remember if other Subs are in the scene.

Polar Boy then shows up as a cadet during the DnA era, though he is never named. There's also a character called "Brek" who is member of Singularity's group, the Credo.

EDE sums it up very well.

as far as the "Archie Legion" term you ask of in your sub-question, it's generally used to refer to the first half of Reboot, when the Moys were the lead artists, employing a more , well, Archieish style (comparatively). Shikari, intro'd during Coipel's era (during DnA) would be post-Archie, but a later portion of the same continuity. (94-99=Archie; 00-04=DnA, in short; basically the two halves of Reboot (94-04).

I'm sure I'll miss some but here are all the ones I can recall.

The Original Five
Polar Boy
Night Girl
Stone Boy
Fire Lad
Chlorophyll Kid

Color Kid
Dream Girl (between stints as a Legionnaire)
Star Boy )between stints as a Legionnaire)
Porcupine Pete
Infectious Lass
Double Header
Antennae Boy

The Subs (second version)
Comet Queen
Karate Kid 2
Cosmic Boy (after retirement from LSH active duty)
Night Girl
Duo Damsel (after retirement from LSH active duty)
Bouncing Boy (after retirement from LSH active duty)

Double-Header and Antennae Lad were actually members of the Subs Auxillary, rather than full-fledged Subs.

Ron-Karr was a member of the 5YL Subs.

As was Sade to some degree!

(Nice responses though fellas!)

Well, were Ron-Karr and Sade actual Subs, or were they just part of the resistance? I thought they were just part of the resistance.

there wasn't an active roster per se; the subs were actually disolved years before (as Polar Boy announces when he seeks to join the LSH), but enough of them stuck together, as we saw, for the name to stick.

Therefore, one could argue that anyone accepted into their ranks was one of them; Ronn-Karr certainly. Sade is arguable either way.

As I recall, Ron-Karr stayed with them after the liberation of Earth, while Sade didn't.

The resistance group were named (or nicknamed) the SUBS during the 5YG. They also included Invisible Kid II and Tyroc. Jacques was their leader, and organizer of the Superhuman Underground Battle Squad.

The 5YG SUBS were:
Invisible Kid II
Tyroc
Stone Boy
Fire Lad
Chlorophyll Kid
Color Kid
Infectious Lass
Porcupine Pete
Ron-Karr

They no longer used their code names, it was all first name basis, and as a group they rocked!!!

They were assisted by many others from time to time, particularly Universo and Grimm (Universo's main enforcer), Tenzil, Laurel Gand, Devlin O'Ryan, and even the SW6 Legionnaires.

Ronn-Kar had the ability to become two dimensional. He was an early Adventure era Legion reject and one of the founding LSV members who all attended Tarik the Mute's villain academy. He stuck with the LSV throughout all their appearances before V4 and later turned up with the anti-Dominator resistance led by the former Invisible Kid II. [Ronn-Kar] (I don't care for the way he was portrayed as a nervous wreck in those V4 stories. Anyone who made a villainous career with only the ability to turn flat has nerve and confidence to spare.)

Sade was a violent teleporter who had been captured by the Dominator's to be experimented on during V4. She was freed by the ex-Subs and was allied with them for the duration of the effort to get the Dominators off Earth. Her final appearance was a big fight with Dawnstar, who was psychically controlled by an entity known as Bounty. Bounty was trying to capture Sade for the reward, but Sade shot her several times at point blank range from behind. (It was one of the most horrible, gratuitiously violent and bloody Legion comics ever. The memory of it still makes me a little angry.)

Comet Queen was a long-time Legion Academy member. She could fly and produce various "comet gasses." Seriously. She also had an annoying futuristic space-Valley Girl speech pattern. She was turned down for Legion membership in the same issue that Polar Boy, Magnetic Kid, Quislet, Tellus and Sensor Girl joined. She made no further appearances during the TMK period through the end of the preboot.

Antenna Boy and Double Header were Adventure era rejects. Antenna Boy picked up broadcasts including ones from different eras, and Double Header had two heads, which argued.

By the way, I've been meaning to add that Brainiac 5 once successfully led the old Subs to victory against the Super-Assasins despite the fact he was all insane at the time. Maybe it helped. At any rate, it's not as though he was a member but I figured it was worth noting.

It's also perhaps worth noting that while the rest of the former Subs became kickass resistance fighters during v4, Polar Boy went off and formed a new team of Heroes of Tartarus, including Policy Pam, Spaceopoly Lad, Sugyn, and Echo-Chamber Chet!

[Echo-Chamber Chet]
[Spaceopoly Lad]
[Policy Pam]
[Sugyn]

The Subs were mostly a joke in DC Comics Presents #59, where they teamed up with Superman to stop Ambush Bug from running amok in the 30th Century. That issue mentioned the auxilary members... you know, heroes who we're up to sub-standards (sub-sub standard?). Double-header and Antennae Lad were there!

And if memory serves, Rainbow Girl made an appearance in the postboot member drive issue... I'll need to go peruse that again.
