The green tones (shades? gradients? not sure of proper term) on the cover of #9 are smashing! Goes well with the white and multi-blue logo, too.

Yes was worried about it when the preview was released but the final version was beautiful. Quite different from most stuff on the shelf too.
I wondered what the choice of colour signified too, envy? jealousy? What's green?

In medieval lit, green is the devil. But maybe here it's just indicating Brainy's ascendence to something resembling leadership.

I had not considered the fact that it was brainy's radiating brilliance shining on his companions. He more than megalomanical enough to demand covers of the comics be green henceforth.
The Future of the UP???
Brainy succeeds and becomes leader of the UP. He is inspired by Chairman Mao and have himself painted as a green sun with all the planets basking in his radiating brilliance.
"Bless the United Planets" is replaced as the anthem with a more revolutionary song, "The Dawn is Green". He moves to Naltor so he can make his speeches in a backdrop where the sky actually is green.
Element lad becomes his minister of culture and leads his latest program, The Great Intellectual Cultural Revolution aimed at obliterating ignorance while inspiring love of Brainy.
