Lemnos. It sounded familiar. But like many I was thinking with my Legion cap not my mythology cap. Trust me I cannot think with both at the same time due to heavy continuity. [Wink]

So doing my usual ancient people reading tonight at work when I am bored. This time the Etruscans. The island Lemnos is mentioned? Say what?

It's where Hephaestus & Philoctetes both hung out. Guys with bad legs? Also something about Cybele?Strange.

Dude!! I knew that name was familiar... I just figured I'd heard something about him pre-threeboot or something.

God, I love Greek myth. That's so awesome!! Thanks for sharin'. ^_^

The only connection I can think of is the people of Lemnos were from the Bronze Age (warlike) and the following age is the Heroic Age? ohwell.

Lemnos? Are you sure it wasnt Lesbos?

Lemnos is right by it. Lesbos is the bigger island of the two.

Suffering Sappho! Lesbos got a mention.

The odyssey recounts a story of where Hephaestus pretends to go to Lemnos after setting up a trap to catch Ares sleeping with his wife Aphrodite.

According to the Greek historian Herodotus, the phrase LEMNIAN DEEDS refers to especially evil crimes. Two bloody massacres apparently took place on Lemnos. In the first, the women (who were not Lesbians or even lesbians, btw) killed the men for bringing concubines to the island. Later, they killed all the concubines and the illegitmate children, too.

So, it sounds like our slaughter-minded Lemnos is aptly named, though it might have been more historically resonant if he'd been a woman.

Tromium looks like you hit it on the head. Guy likes to slaughter planets. Lemnian deeds indeed!

Reminds me of Roxxas again.

btw yes Caliente. I rather party on Lesbos(!!!) than get caught in a Lemnian deed. doh!
