THE LEGION #38

Written by Gail Simone, art by Dan Jurgens abd Andy Smith Cover by Kevin Nowlan

The series finale and the thrilling conclusion to the 4-part "For No Better Reason!" Devil, Arrow, Canary and Lantern have sworn to destroy the Legion on its own turf, and with the Legion's big guns out of the picture, it looks like they just might do it.

32 pages, $2.50, in stores on Aug. 25.

And I'm just noticing we didn't even rate extra pages for the final issue. *sigh*

I would interpret that as a good sign. A big blow-out finale issue would mean just that, but a regular issue seems to imply a business-as-usual-mentality. Which I would take as a sign of a short hiatus in lieu of all the rumors running around.

IIRC, the villains are supposed to be disguised as 21st century super-heroes. I get Arrow, Canary and Lantern (the blonde guy, I guess), but who is Devil's 21st century counterpart, if any? And which one is the "classic Legion villain" Gail talked about? Devil=Evillo?

Turner's costumed Kara looks spectacular! Dare we hope for a crossover?

Are these guys the Anti-Color Police? What do they have against Blue, Green, and Black?

Actually, she's Kryptonian [Wink] (sorry, couldn't resist)

Could Devil be the Bat? I can't think of anyone else on the JLA who might give off the impression of a devil besides Batman.

Blue Devil.

Oh, so we aren't just trying to think of serious characters.

How about the Tasmanian Devil then? He was on the Justice League Europe team with the Blue Devil.

Well, since the other 3 have all had colors removed from their names, I assumed that Devil must be based on the same model.

Color me offbase if you will.

Color Kid.

I bet Ulu saves the day by recoloring the villains, thus changing them from bad guys to heroes!

Presumably "Devil" is the dude saying "Do it now Canary" on one of the preview pages:

Devil in a Blue Dress?

Seriously, it could be Evillo with more manly, er, horns.

Poor Kara, she really needs to take a break and eat a bagel or two.

Either that, or Tenzil breaks out the Hostess Fruit Pies!

There's just something wrong with Kara dressing like Britney Spears. If she starts trying to "fine tune" her knockers, I will NOT be impressed.

Yeah Gail, it does. But, when doesn't a Greg Land cover rule the racks?

I love seeing all the different artists' takes on these covers.

They're a treat!
