I agree with Sketch Lad. Mekt's hair was originally red but turned white because Garth zapped him. It would be rather silly to say electric shock turned someone's hair blond. That would be like having Jacques's hair turn blond from fright at seeing Darkseid.
Dream Girl's hair is white too. It didn't turn platinum til many years later.
