I nominate the 6-part MORDRU arc that originally appeared in 5YL LSH #s 43-48 (which I am currently rereading), plus pages 1-3 & 12 of LSH ANNUAL 4.

Why? Multiple reasons.

1) Zombie comics are poplar right now and a large bulk of this story features the team battling Mordru's armies of the risen dead, and even a Legion of Dead Heroes!

2) Artwork by fan-fave Stuart Immonen.

3) Guest stars: Martian Manhunter and Amythest fans will want this.

4) A tale dripping with revenge, mysticism, horror, drama, pathos and great character moments.

5) Current 'toonverse fan-fave Infectious Lass vs. zombies.

What's your nominee and why?

Keeping it down to two:

White Triangle (LSHv4 66-71, Lgs 23-28, LSHv4Ann6 (Kinetix story only), LgsAnn2)

A big TPB running through from the end of the Beginning of Tommorrow TPB and with the whole of post-ZH Andromeda's character arc.

Legion Lost (Lost 1-12)

Intense, self-contained, and I'm sure Coipel's name wouldn't hurt sales these days [Smile]

Doesn't it feature tons of cameos of heroes who were dead in the early 90s, and some of whom may still be?

Come to think of it... doesn't current Countdown star and all around pivotal figure of the current DCU Jason Todd make a cameo?

Well, SOMEone in a Robin costume does! He attacks Blood Claw in LSH # 45!

That's right before zombie Magnetic Kid kills the apparently homophobic Khund in issue 46 (Firefist, also apparently a homophobe, calls Pol an "human aberration"!)!

Not an arc per se, but how 'bout a "Best of Matter-Eater Lad" TPB, featuring his three TMK spotlight issues (with select scenes from #50), plus earlier Matter-Eater Lad-centric stories, like his first appearance, the Tenzil-Vi date issue and Renkil Kem issue!

With him being exclusive to Marvel is DC allowed to do a collection featuring his work? Just wondering as I'm not sure how for these exclusive contracts go.

Right now I'd only add Legion Worlds to those already mentioned for a collection. I'd have to do more thinking on other, post-boot, stories for their worthiness.

Earth War? I keep hearing good things about this yet I never read it. From what I've heard from people around here and other places it's one of the best Legion epics.

EARTHWAR started out strongly with some ABSOLUTELY AMAZING James Sherman artwork in the first 2 issues, but the ending issues were hurt for me by rush-job artwork.

LLOST would make for an expensive TPB but is definitely worthy.

An all Matter-Eater Lad tpb? I'm so there I have it already!! (I wish)

Oh yeah - Ed Brubaker's Marvel-exclusive, and DC did a Gotham Central TPB just this week.

It's all about the putting pen to paper/fingers to keyboard in the present (and sometimes, they even write in exceptions then, like PAD's Fallen Angel clause in his Marvel deal), not past stuff.

Otherwise, if you're going to do both Lost & Worlds, rather than Lost as a standalone, you should probably do a Damned/Rifts TPB ([Lgs78 (epilogue only?)+79-81, LSH122-125, SF&O2? (lead only, if included]) as well...

I'd like to see them continue directly from the upcoming LSV storyline they're going to release in TPB. It's a good starting point, since it kicked off with a new #1. Once completed, the 5YL issues should be collected, followed by the reboot LSH, at least through the Shrinking Violet/Emerald Eye story.

If they chose not to follow the archiving route, I'd like to see a thematic recreation of the old 100-page giants from the '70s.

Mixing eras.

How about pairing the WHO IS SENSOR GIRL? arc with Mystery Lad's origin (theme-- secrets entrusted to Saturn Girl)?

Reprint the Nardo super-hero camp from ADVENTURE with the Levitz UNIVERSO version. Maybe toss in a new story featuring the animated version?

Or a LSH wedding TPB-- Chuck and Luornu, Garth and Imra, Val and Jeckie, reboot Jo and Tinya... actually, I guess that'd have to be two volumes, wouldn't it?

The LSV story from the beginning of the Baxter series. I'd love to have a shelf copy of that so I don't have to dig when I want to look at it.
