The fans. The destiny of the LSH has always been in our hands, whether we've chosen to take advantage of it or not.

We've saved it, and we'll continue to keep saving it--that much I really believe [Big Grin]

Can I define "Legion of Super-Heroes" however I wish?

If we're talking about the memories and what the Legion means to each of us individually, then I agree with CK: It belongs to us.

If we're talking about the intellectually property called "Legion of Super-Heroes," then it unquestionably belongs to DC. The company can do with the Legion whatever it pleases. I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but we fans did not bring the Legion back from cancellation. DC did that. They may have done so because fans showed their support of the Legion, but the power to save the Legion rests with DC, no one else.

My first reaction was who, in the fictional series, owns the team - what sort of entity they are, like NGO, corporation, etc. Presumably, they can't be operating in their free-market economy - or the ruins of it - without paying taxes on purchases, property taxes, having the clubhouse registered and subject to inspection. I would suspect they're set up as something like our present day NGOs, so the group owns itself and is controlled by its officers. We have yet to see a constitution, but I suspect if there's something like a board of directors, it's the three founders plus Projectra. I know they like anarcy, but it seems unlikely that TPTB would let the group function at all without some formalization, if only to permit hassling them through tax and safety law enforcement.

The other idea of ownership is what personality dominates the concept. In the case of the LSH, I would cite Paul Levitz as the person who has left the most lasting impression on the book and who supposedly continues to exercise influence over it.

Given that people like Dan DiDio refer to the Legion as a franchise, then whoever the franchise holder is owns the Legion.
